Accuracy of the Automating Program of Log Scaling (통나무 자로재기의 자동화 프로그램에 대한 정확성 평가)

  • Log scaling which decides a quality grade of log is influence the price of log at the market. It is the one of important works at the field until now. So it remains using a ruler traditionally. This study evaluated the automating program through compared the automating program with using a ruler for log. The automating program used libraries of OpenCV concerning image processing algorithm to measure log diameter for scaling. In addition, it applies two panels of checkered pattern beside a pile of logs and tapes on the surface of a log diameter to find a correct value. We analyzed statistical mean difference of both log diameter and volume. In conclusion, the automating program after applying check panel and taping ins't different using a ruler. Therefore we need to considerate about applying it for improving Forest Administration.

  • Expert system for automating HAZOP analysis of batch processes In contrast with continuous processes must consider the discrete variables such as time and sequence. So in this study, we have developed the expert system for automating HAZOP analysis of batch processes to analyse time and sequence on the basis of the relation between discrete variables and continuous ones. Because these variables can not be explained by the method used in the HAZOP analysis of continuous processes. The proposed expert system have been discussed on a Latex batch process to evaluate its effectiveness.

  • The purpose of the research is to solve the problem of automating time & schedule management by the user in office or development environment. Maintaining timelog manually is difficult task for the users that are following the Personal Software Process (PSP). In this paper we have discussed the difficulties in automating this task and proposed a solution for this problem.

  • Gauge blocks are the most widely used material measure in length field in industry. The gauge block interferometer, which is the gauge block measuring system, comprises Twyman-Green type interferometer optics and light sources having precisely known wavelengths. This paper describes the work done for advancing the measurement system and automating the measurement process. The advancing of the system was done mainly by exchanging the spectral lamp with the frequency stabilized lasers, and the automation of measurement was achieved by modifying the hardware and developing the automatic measuring software. As the results of this work, the contrast of interferometric fringes of gauge blocks longer than 100 mm s enhanced about 20 times, and the measurement time has reduced down to 50% by automation.

  • It is important to integrate an enterprise application for automating of the business profess, which is responded by a flow of market environment. There are two categories of method that integrate enterprise applications. One is Synchronous Integration, and the other is Asynchronous Integration. EAI(Enterprise Application Integration) and Web service which of the asynchronous integration is focused in the automating method of the business process. After we construct the application integration for automating of the business process, we have to concern about managing of the business transaction. Many Organizations have proposed the process method of business transaction based on 2-phase commit protocol. But this method can′t supply the phase that classify the transaction by transaction weight. In this paper, we propose an efficient method of transaction process for business transactions, which is composed by ′Classify Phase′ that classify transactions. We called this model "3-Phase Commit Method Applied by Classify Phase", we design this model to manage an resource of enterprise efficiently. The proposed method is compared by the method based on 2-Phase commit that could be a problem of management the resource of enterprise, and the advantage of this method is certified to propose the solution of that problem.

Automated optimization for memory-efficient high-performance deep neural network accelerators

  • The increasing size and complexity of deep neural networks (DNNs) necessitate the development of efficient high-performance accelerators. An efficient memory structure and operating scheme provide an intuitive solution for high-performance accelerators along with dataflow control. Furthermore, the processing of various neural networks (NNs) requires a flexible memory architecture, programmable control scheme, and automated optimizations. We first propose an efficient architecture with flexibility while operating at a high frequency despite the large memory and PE-array sizes. We then improve the efficiency and usability of our architecture by automating the optimization algorithm. The experimental results show that the architecture increases the data reuse; a diagonal write path improves the performance by 1.44× on average across a wide range of NNs. The automated optimizations significantly enhance the performance from 3.8× to 14.79× and further provide usability. Therefore, automating the optimization as well as designing an efficient architecture is critical to realizing high-performance DNN accelerators.

Survey on Developing Autonomous Micro Aerial Vehicles (드론 자율비행 기술 동향)

  • As sensors such as Inertial Measurement Unit, cameras, and Light Detection and Rangings have become cheaper and smaller, research has been actively conducted to implement functions automating micro aerial vehicles such as multirotor type drones. This would fully enable the autonomous flight of drones in the real world without human intervention. In this article, we present a survey of state-of-the-art development on autonomous drones. To build an autonomous drone, the essential components can be classified into pose estimation, environmental perception, and obstacle-free trajectory generation. To describe the trend, we selected three leading research groups-University of Pennsylvania, ETH Zurich, and Carnegie Mellon University-which have demonstrated impressive experiment results on automating drones using their estimation, perception, and trajectory generation techniques. For each group, we summarize the core of their algorithm and describe how they implemented those in such small-sized drones. Finally, we present our up to date research status on developing an autonomous drone.
