Development of an Automatic Tool Compensation System for M/C (머시닝센터용 자동공구보정시스템의 개발)

  • The tool wear that is developed by long-term machining in mold manufacturing with machining center makes a severe influence to the accuracy and the surface roughness. in this reason, tool-wear supervising system which has guaranteed high accuracy and high speed is needed to improve the measurement quality. Touching probe and touch sensor are widely used to measure the tool profile at on-machine measurement. In this paper, using the newly developed electric touch point measuring system, the Automatic Tool Compensation System is developed to correct the error of tool diameter resulted from the wear, and the operating method of this system is also provided.

  • Ready-mixed concrete(RMC) has been a major construction materials for infrastructures. However, RMC with poor quality is reported to be social issue since it directly user's safety and convenience. Because the properties of concrete as a construction material are greatly influenced by the variation of water content, to control water accurately is the most efficient method for the quality control in RMC industry. In this study, the automatic measurement technology of fine aggregate was developed by using the microwave moisture measurement. For the various conditions of fine aggregate such as moisture, temperature and pressure, the calibration curve of moisture measurement was obtained by using oven-dry method. From the infield and outfield test, it can be obtained that the accuracy of microwave moisture measurement is very high and the automatic system of microwave moisture measurement is very convenient and useful for quality control in RMC Industry.

  • Moire topography method is a well-known non-contacting 3-D measurement method. Recently, the automatic 3-D measurement by moire topography has been required since the method was frequently applied to the engineering and medical fields. 3-D measurement using digital projection moire topography is very attractive because of its high measuring speed and high sensitivity. In this paper, using different N-bucket algorithm method of digital projection moire topography is tested to measuring object with the 2$\pi$-ambiguity problem. Experimental results prove that the proposed scheme is capable of finding measurement errors that decreased more by using the flour-three step algorithm method than the same step in the phase shifting of different pitchs.

  • In this paper, It does the profile measurement of the cam of diesel engine SOHC of the actual object. It uses the measurement of run-out method. This method is that the surface of the object is measured by the sensor when the object rotate, and calculated and displayed by the computer the signal which acquired by sensor. When we acquire the signals, we have two error because of motion and contacting between cam and probe. In this paper, we compensate the motion error while simply liner equation. And we have a solution that we change the figure of probe when we have a contacting error. We compared the data measuring on developed automatic cam profile measuring system with the data measured on CMM.

  • In this paper, an integrated navigation system based on GPS(Global Positioning System) and Dead-Reckoning (DR) is designed. For the calibration of DR, a self-calibration method and a GPS-based calibration method are proposed. From the field-test results, it is shown that DR can be successfully calibrated by the two proposed calibration methods. Also, a cascaded filter approach and a mixed-measurement algorithm are employed for GPS/DR integration. By using the newly proposed mixed-measurement algorithm, it is shown in simulation that the position error becomes smaller than by using only DR even if the number of visible GPS satellites is less than 4.

  • This study was conducted to develop a grain moisture content measurement sensor for automatic control of rough rice drying by natural air. For the above objective, the electrod type sensor was designed and tested. The sensor was able to produce electrical resistance which changes with moisture content of grain. An A/D converter and a micro-computer wed for processing measurement data of sensor. The developed sensor satisfied most design requirements and the results of statistical analysis show that there it no difference between the measurement method of sensor developed and of the dry-oven. Using the developed sensor and measurement system, we are able to measure moisture content of rough rice automatically in drying by natural air.

  • Purpose: The prevalent use of mobile devices may contribute to musculoskeletal disorders, such as forward head posture (FHP), among users. The measurement of the craniovertebral angle (CVA) using photographic images is frequently employed in assessing FHP. Although manual CVA measurement using photographic images is reliable in clinical settings, computer programs or mobile applications to support tele-physical therapy are not yet fully developed. Therefore, in the current study, we propose an automatic method for extracting CVA from photographic images of FHP subjects to facilitate tele-physical therapy. Methods: To develop the automatic CVA measuring computer program, photographic images were obtained from 10 FHP participants. The location information obtained from the markers attached to the tragus and the spinous process of the seventh cervical vertebra were used as coordinates. Using these coordinates, straight line 1 was generated by connecting the seventh spinous process of the cervical vertebra and the tragus, while straight line 2 was drawn parallel to the coordinate obtained from the seventh spinous process of the cervical vertebra. The arc tangent function was used to calculate the angle between the two straight lines. The automatic CVA measurement computer program utilizing photographic images was developed using MATLAB (ver. 2016b). Results: The results showed that the automatic CVA measurement computer program demonstrated stable repeatability and high accuracy. Conclusion: The proposed approach was able to automatically estimate the CVA using photographic images. The developed computer program can potentially be used for easier and more reliable clinical assessment of FHP.

A Fundamental Investigation to Develope a Automatic Apparatus for Contamination Measurement (오손도 자동측정장치 개발을 위한 기초연구)

  • To reduce the maintenance expense and the possibility of electric outage and/or accident, which causes the decrease in stability and reliability of transmission/distribution line, most of all, accurate measurement for the degree of contamination should be preceded. But the conventional method (brush wiping method), which is recommended in IEC 60815, has sow significant problem in the aspect of man power, expense, error, and so forth. In this investigation, we purpose the development of a new type automatic measuring apparatus, which could measure the degree of contamination on the surface of insulator in outdoor condition. To design and evaluate the apparatus, a FLUX 2D is used, and various laboratory tests, artificial contamination tests, were carried to proof the actual performance. With the result of these effort, we can get the meaningful conclusion to develope a new type automatic apparatus for contamination measurement.

  • This study developed and evaluated a load cell-based automatic weighing system for the automated harvesting of laver (Porphyra tenera) in seaweed aquaculture. The current manual harvesting process was compared with the load cell-based automated system, and quantitative measurements of time, distance, and weight were conducted. The results demonstrated that the load cell-based system reduced the unloading time and increased the throughput compared to the manual method. In addition, statistical analysis confirmed that there was no significant difference from the mean in the weight measurement obtained using the load cell-based system. Based on these findings, the load cell-based automatic weighing system holds potential for efficient production and transactions in laver cultivation, contributing to cost reduction and improving the quality of life for aquaculture workers.

  • AVI (Automatic Vision Inspection) systems automatically detect defect features and measure their sizes via camera vision. AVI systems usually report different measurements on the same defect with some variations on position or rotation mainly because different images are provided. This is caused by possible variations from the image acquisition process including optical factors, nonuniform illumination, random noises, and so on. For this reason, conventional area based defect measuring methods have problems of robustness and consistency. In this paper, we propose a new defect size measuring method to overcome this problem, utilizing volume information that is completely ignored in the area based defect measuring method. The results show that our proposed method dramatically improves the robustness and consistency of defect size measurement.
