A Segmentation Method for Counting Ammonia-oxidizing Bacteria (암모니아산화세균의 계수를 위한 영상분리기법)

  • As a method to control the bacteria number in adequate level, a real time control system based on microscope image processing measurement for the bacteria is adopted. For the experiment, Ammonia-oxidizing bacteria such as Acinetobacter sp. are used. This paper proposed hybrid method combined watershed algorithm with adaptive automatic thresholding method to enhance segmentation efficiency of overlapped image. Experiments was done to show the effectiveness of the proposed method compared to traditional Otsu's method, Otsu's method with adaptive automatic thresholding method and human visual method.

  • Automatic exposure control systems are now readily available and widly used in radiography. A device that automatically determines the amount of radiation required to produce an acceptable level of film blackness is called a phototimer, or automatic exposure control. There are limitations in the use of phototimers ; however, equipment can be used much more effectively if one recognize these limitations, and the goal of obtaining a properly exposed, reproducible radiography can be achieved. We have some results in this experimental study. The variations of film density due to kVp are in propotion to below 80 kVp range. But indicate constant level above 80 kVp to 120 kVp. The characteristic density variation by phantom thickness shows the higher the thiner in exit type. AEC system have a density control that is designed to make adjustments increase or decreas the density 10% per step or 25% per step. The automatic exposure control circuits must meet the several regulations of the HEW. Some forms of technique chart is recomened for use of AEC.

  • This paper summarizes the design concepts and implementation of a Ku-band channel amplifier's engineering model for the communication and broadcasting satellite applications. The selected architecture uses the analog gain control for the FGM(Fixed Gain Mode) and the output level limiting using automatic loop control for the ALC (automatic level control) mode. The Ku-band channel amplifier incorporates several state-of-the-art components including voltage-controlled PIN diode attenuators, and various temperature-compensation circuits. The measured characteristics of the Ku-band channel amplifier are in good agreement with the expected performance. The results show a fixed gain control of 28 dB, and an automatic level control of 16 dB over operating temperature range. The designed engineering model could be used as a channel amplifier for Ku-band communication and broadcasting satellite payload system.

  • The automatic detection of artifacts and vigilance level as for pre-processing of the automatic EEG interpretation are discussed. The equations for detecting artifacts and vigilance level were determined such that they would conform to the procedures that an EEGer (one of the authors, H.S.) usually adopts for visual inspection of the actual EEG record. The automatic EEG interpretation was found to be improved by the newly developed pre-processing method even will artifact contamination or in drowsy condition of the subjects.

  • In this paper, we proposed an automatic threshold control method for radar warning receiver. Considering the noise level of the environment, this technique can effectively adjust sensitivity level of radar warning receiver and can offer more accurate radar information for aircraft pilot in noisy circumstances.

  • A control for Steam Generator (S/C) level is very difficult by automatic control mode but also manual control node during plant start up and/or low power level operation with the analog control system because of a non-nominal process responce.   • A tractor is a farm vehicle that is designed to provide a high tractive effort at low speed. It is used for versatile agricultural tasks such as hauling a trailer, tillage, mowing and construction work. As the intensity of work increases, tractors equipped with automatic transmission become popular due to the work convenience. Though manual and power shuttle transmissions are produced by domestic corporations, development for full-automatic power shift transmissions has never been challenged, and so related technology level is quite low. This paper gives a survey of the automatic transmissions from advanced foreign company, which includes layout of gear train, the way hydraulics controls clutches and brakes, electronic control system. The results are expected to be utilized as a basis in the development of original power train design for tractor.

  • We developed an automatic blood pressure control system to maintain the blood pressure of patients at a substantially low level during a surgical operation. The developed system discharges two functions, continuous feedback control of the mean arterial pressure (MAP) by a state-predictive servo controller and risk control based on the inference by fuzzy-like logics and rules using measured data. Twenty-eight clinical applications were made beginning in November 1995, and the effects of the automatic blood pressure control on the operation time and on bleeding were assessed affirmatively by means of Wilcoxon testing. This paper essentially reports the engineering details of the control system.

  • Robot task program is needed to control and manage a Robot without explicitly describing the robot program by user which includes commands, procedures, geometric and signal data in the detail level. To use the Robot task program, a computer system is required to convert the Robot task into the Robot program, which can be understood by the Robot. In this paper, the systemic method for automatic generation of explicit Robot programs (ERP) from task-level commands is described. Specifically, a 3-step procedure including Robot task decomposition, task synchronization and ERP generation is presented.

  • This paper presents an impact control algorithm for reducing the potentially damaging effects by interation of redundant manipulators with their environments. In the. proposed control algorithm, the redundancy is resolved at the torque level by locally minimizing joint torque, subject to tire operational space dynamic formulation which maps tire joint torque set into the operational forces. For a given pre-impact velocity of the manipulator, the proposed approach is on generating joint space trajectories throughout the motion near the contact which instantaneously minimize the impulsive force which is a scalar function of manipulator's configurations. This is done by using the null space dynamics which does not affect the motion of an end-effector. The comparative evaluation of the proposed algorithm with a local torque optimization algorithm without reducing impact is performed by computer simulation. The simulation results illustrate the effectiveness of the algorithm in reducing both the effects of impact and large torque requirements.
