Study on the 3D Design of Bracket with Automatic Module (자동화 모듈을 활용한 브라켓의 3D설계에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, the bracket for car was designed in 3D using Cimatron Die Design, one of the automatic modules. To facilitate the stamping of the product, the layout of the strip was adjusted slightly. The blank layout of the double-width, 2-line, 2-pull out inner carrier was then optimized as a single arrangement. 3D design was completed in 11 processes.

  • Counter shaft transmission is a popular automatic transmission power train in construction vehicles such as wheel loader and forklift. The gear train layout of counter shaft transmission is a very basic and important development stage because it affects the most of components design including hydraulic system and shift control algorithm, etc. This paper presents a design methodology for the gear train layout from the analysis of power flow path and clutch hook-up of the existing counter shaft transmission that is adopted in commercialized construction vehicles. Also, independent constraints for the meshed gear ratios are derived in order to realize forward 4-speed and reverse 3-speed gear ratio. The layout design principle proposed here was applied to the new original counter shaft transmission that is underdevelopment.

  • GDS (Grating automatic Drawing System), which is an automatic design system of a metal product called grating, is a system that produces various detailed drawings on the basis of information within a Plan Drawing that represents layout of the grating such as locations, shapes, directions, etc. However, automatically produced drawings by GDS do not fully satisfy the standard of the general dimension marking method used among the layout designers. The lack of this standard quality mainly results from the fact that overlapping among dimension markings appear frequently. To solve the overlapping problem we applied the rule-based expert system. The rules are designed based on the expertise of skilled layout designers within the grating production lines.

  • With the success of flexible manufacturing systems(FMSs), flexible assembly systems(FASs) have been developed to automatic factories further. As in a cellular FMS, a celluar FAS is considered as the most flexible and feasible assembly systems configuration. This paper presents a method for the integrated layout design in cellular FASs. Unlike the traditional paper, this paper deals with the formation of cells and the layout of cells for jobs with operation times on different machines. The procedure in this paper consists of two distinct phases. The first phase presents machine arrangement in a double rows flowline. cell formation not to allow intercellular movements, and integrated layout design in cellular FASs considering the characteristics of FAS, layout, and production factors This phase uses older optimal algorithm. The second phase proposes to balance the system with an objective of reducing the degree of workload deviation in the cells. Simulated annealing method is used to balance the system. This phase also shows the integrated layout design in cellular FASs with the cost less than total cost of the first phase.

  • Current growth of VLSI design depends critically on the research and development of automatic layout tool. Automatic layout is composed of placement assigning a specific shape to a block and arranging the block on the layout surface and routing finding the interconnection of all the nets. Algorithms performing placement and routing impact on performance and area of VLSI design. Switchbox routing is a problem interconnecting each terminals on all four sides of the region, unlike channel routing. In this paper we propose a genetic algorithm searching solution space for switchbox routing problem. We compare the performance of proposed genetic algorithm(GA) for switchbox routing with that of other switchbox routing algorithm by analyzing the results of each implementation. Consequently experimental results show that out proposed algorithm reduce routing length and number of the via over the other switchbox routing algorithms.

  • An automotive automatic transmission is a popular power-transmitting device in passenger vehicles, as it provides various speed ratios for diverse driving conditions with easy manipulation and smooth gear shifting. The transmission is mainly composed of input and output shafts, planetary gear sets, brakes/clutches, and housing, and it yields multiple forward gears and one reverse gear by actuating the shifting devices of the brakes and clutches. In developing a new transmission, kinematic configurations of a transmission, which presents a brief structure and actuation schemes for speed ratios, need to be checked to determine if the structure can be assembled in a layout. It is impossible for a transmission concept having any interference in connecting main components to be developed further in the design process, since connection interference leads to failure of a layout design in the 2-D plane. In this research, an analysis of the assemblability of a front-wheel drive automatic transmission is carried out on an example concept design by applying the vertex addition algorithm based on graph theory.

  • Today most companies are designing their automobile shapes by using 3 dimensional CAD software, CATIA. And they used to design 2 dimensional press dies to do some elastic work on their products, but they are currently trying to make use of dimensional software, Pro-Engineer. In this case, they have to change the 3 dimensional product design data to the proper format data for the following process. This paper will show the data loss and the deformation during data transfer between CATIA and Pro-Engineer, and then suggest a solution for these problems. Product's surface will be automatically placed by automatic press tipping angle setting in CATIA to prevent the product from being stuck in the press die. The 2 dimensional section view which is based on the tipping angle setting is created by Z-map. And, to remove the data loss and the data deformation in pro-Engineer, the product surface are delivered to the next process after it is changed to the 2 dimensional Z-map curves in CATIA. finally, this paper suggests an algorithm to develop the automatic design program for the press layout which regenerates product shape surface from the previous process.

  • Automatic layout decomposition techniques have been developed for double patterning technology (DPT). As CMOS manufacturing process scales down to 45nm and below, lithography resolution needs to be improved. DPT has been proposed to enhance the limitation of conventional lithography, by decomposing the layout design into two masks to relax the minimum spacing requirement. However, it is not always possible to decompose a layout into two masks. We have developed new automatic stitching techniques to resolve this problem. Experimental results show that the suggested techniques are promising in decomposing layouts for DPT.

  • We developed the first automatic design system targeting a promising hybrid CMOS-Nanoelectronics Architecture called CMOL. The CMOL architecture uses NOR gates to implement combinational logic. In this hybrid CMOS-nanoelectronics architecture, logical functions and the interconnections share the nanoelectronics hardware resource. Towards automating the CMOL physical design process, we developed a model for the CMOL architecture, formulated the placement and routing problems for the CMOL architecture subject to the unique CMOL specific constraints, and solved it by combining a placement algorithm with a gate assignment algorithm in a loop. We validated the proposed approach by implementing several industrial strength designs.
