Development of Automated Tools for Data Quality Diagnostics (데이터 품질진단을 위한 자동화도구 개발)

  • When companies or institutes manage data, in order to utilize it as useful resources for decision-making, it is essential to offer precise and reliable data. While most small and medium-sized enterprises and public institutes have been investing a great amount of money in management and maintenance of their data systems, the investment in data management has been inadequate. When public institutions establish their data systems, inspection has been constantly carried out on the data systems in order to improve safety and effectiveness. However, their capabilities in improving the quality of data have been insufficient. This study develops an automatic tool to diagnose the quality of data in a way to diagnose the data quality condition of the inspected institute quantitatively at the stage of design and closure by inspecting the data system and proves its practicality by applying the automatic tool to inspection. As a means to diagnose the quality, this study categorizes, in the aspect of quality characteristics, the items that may be improved through diagnosis at the stage of design, the early stage of establishing the data system and the measurement items by the quality index regarding measurable data values at the stage of establishment and operation. The study presents a way of quantitative measurement regarding the data structures and data values by concretizing the measurement items by quality index in a function of the automatic tool program. Also, the practicality of the tool is proved by applying the tool in the inspection field. As a result, the areas which the institute should improve are reported objectively through a complete enumeration survey on the diagnosed items and the indicators for quality improvement are presented quantitatively by presenting the quality condition quantitatively.

  • In this paper a VLSI design for the automatic magnetizing and inspection system has been presented. This is a design of a peripheral controller, which magnetizes CRTs and computer monitors and controls the automatic inspection system. We implemented a programmable peripheral interface(PPI) circuit of the control and protocol module for the magnetizer controller by using a 0.8um CMOS SOG technology of ETRI. Most of the PPI functions have been confirmed. In the conventional method, the propagation/ramp delay model was used to predict the delay of cells, but used to model on only a single cell. Later, a modified "linear delay predict model" was suggested in the LODECAP(LOgic DEsign CAPture) by adding some factors to the prior model. But this has not a full model on the delay chain. In this paper a new " delay predict equation" for the design of the timing control block in PPI system has been suggested. We have described the detail method on a design of delay chain block according to the extracted equation and applied this method to the timing control block design. And we had descriptions on the other blocks of this system.

  • The Infrared Camera usually detects only Infrared waves emitted from the light in order to illustrate the temperature distribution. An Infrared diagnosis system can be applied to various fields. But the defect discrimination can be automatic or mechanized in the special shoes total inspection system. This study introduces a method for special shoes nondestructive total inspection. Performance of the proposed method is shown through thermo-Image.

  • Using the real-time image processing technique, we have developed an automatic visual inspection system which detects the defects of the surface muonted components in PCB( missing components, mislocation, mismounts, and reverse polarity, etc ) and collects the quality control and production management data. An image processing system based on a commercial parallel processor, TRANSPUTER by which the image processing time can be largely reduced was designed. Analyzing the collected data, the proposed inspection system contributes to the productivity improvement throughthe reduction of defective rate.

  • 본 논문에서는 표면실장기판을 위한 자동 광학 검사 시스템에서 사용되는 데이터 산출방법에 대한 알고리즘을 제안 한다. 제안된 새로운 부품검사 알고리즘은 검사영역을 분할해 템플릿에서의 매칭률이 가장 높은 부분만을 세밀하게 재검사하는 방법을 사용하여 기존의 방법들보다 시간이 단축 될 뿐만 아니라 많은 양의 메모리를 필요로 하는 템플릿의 패턴들의 메모리 용량상의 문제점을 해결할 수 있다. 실험 결과를 제시하여 제안된 검사 알고리즘을 검증한다.

  • Developed is an optical auto-inspection system to detect some microscopic defects on the Inside surface of the hydraulic automobile brakes at the production line. A small cylindrical detection module with a solid laser source at its center has two rings of optical fibers to separately collect light reflected and scattered from the defects on the surface. The cylindrical brake part rotates with respect to the detection module that will move parallel to the rotational axis of the cylinder.   • In general, the purpose of packaging fasteners is a series of management activities to maintain the condition at the time of production until they get delivered to the end user. An automatic packing system for fasteners is consisted of bucket conveyor, slide feeder, vision inspection system, box-magazine conveyor system and automatic packing machine. Also, the automatic packing machine is consisted of six modules including charging device, clamping/opening device, sealing/cutting device, feeding/air-shower device, supplying/adjusting device and device frame, etc. In this paper, we proposed an automatic packing mechanism of the one station concept for packing work of fastener objects where the continuous batch work is performed in a finite space. The proposed one-station packing mechanism has been optimized through mechanical, dynamical, structural and fluid analyses. And it had been manufactured as the prototype of automatic packing machine. The field test for validation of performance was performed directly at the production line of bolt and screw. In the field test, this packing machine showed an efficiency of about 4.5 times the manual operation. It also showed 30% reduction in the consumption of packing materials compared to the manual operation. This automatic packing machine for fastener objects will be commercialized soon.

  • Recently, UUVs (unmanned underwater vehicles) have increasingly been applied in various science and engineering applications. In-water inspection, which used to be performed by human divers, is a potential application for UUVs. In particular, the operational safety and performance of in-water inspection missions can be greatly improved by using an underwater robotic vehicle. The capabilities of hovering maneuvers and automatic image mosaicking are essential for autonomous underwater visual inspection. This paper presents the development of a hover-capable autonomous underwater vehicle system for autonomous in-water inspection, which includes both a hardware platform and operational software algorithms. Some results from an experiment in a model basin are presented to demonstrate the feasibility of the developed system and algorithms.

  • This paper proposed an efficient manufacturing system using the OMM (on-machine measurement) system. The OMM system is software-based 3D modeler for inspection on machine, and it is interfaced with machine tools via RS232C. The software is composed of two inspection modules; one is touch probe operating module, and the other is laser displacement sensor operating module. The module for touch probe needs the inspection feature extracted from CAD data. The touch probe moves to workpiece by three operating modes as follows: manual, general and automatic mode. The operating module of the laser displacement sensor is used to inspect profiles and very small holes. An advantage of this inspection method is the ability to execute on-line inspection during machining or afterward. The efficiency of proposed system which can predict and define the machining errors of each process was verified, so the developed system was applied to inspect a mold-base (cavity, core).

Analysis and Probability of Overestimation by an Imperfect Inspector with Errors of Triangular Distributions (삼각 과오 분포를 가진 불완전한 검사원의 과대 추정 확률과 분석)

  • There always exist nonzero inspection errors whether inspectors are humans or automatic inspection machines. Inspection errors can be categorized by two types, type I error and type II error, and they can be regarded as either a constant or a random variable. Under the assumption that two types of random inspection errors are distributed with the "uniform" distribution on a half-open interval starting from zero, it was proved that inspectors overestimate any given fraction defective with the probability more than 50%, if and only if the given fraction defective is smaller than a critical value, which depends upon only the ratio of a type II error over a type I error. In addition, it was also proved that the probability of overestimation approaches one hundred percent as a given fraction defective approaches zero. If these critical phenomena hold true for any error distribution, then it might have great economic impact on commercial inspection plans due to the unfair overestimation and the recent trend of decreasing fraction defectives in industry. In this paper, we deal with the same overestimation problem, but assume a "symmetrical triangular" distribution expecting better results since our triangular distribution is closer to a normal distribution than the uniform distribution. It turns out that the overestimation phenomenon still holds true even for the triangular error distribution.
