Testing and diagnosis of analog circuits(or mixed-signal circuits) continue to be a hard task for test engineers and efficient test methodologies to solve these problems are needed. This paper proposes a novel analog circuits test technique using time slot specification (TSS) based built-in current sensors (BICS). A technique for location of a fault site and separation of fault type based on TSS is also presented. The proposed built-in current sensors and TSS technique has high testability, fault coverage and a capability to diagnose catastrophic faults and parametric faults in analog circuits. In order to reduce time complexity of test point insertion procedure, external output and power nodes are used for test points and the current sensors are implemented in the automatic test equipment(ATE). The digital output of BICS can be easily combined with built-in digital test modules for analog IC test.
Z-axis automatic tube current modulation technique automatically adjusts tube current based on size of body region scanned. The purpose of the current study was to compare noise, and radiation dose of multi-detector row CT (MDCT) of lower extremity performed with Z-axis modulation technique of automatic tube current modulation with manual selection fixed tube current. Fifty consecutive underwent MDCT venography of lower extremity with use of a MDCT scanner fixed tube current and Z-axis automatic tube current modulation technique (10, 11 and 12 HU noise index, $70{\sim}450\;mA$). Scanning parameters included 120 kVp, 0.5 second gantry rotation time, 1.35:1 beam pitch, and 1 mm reconstructed section thickness. For each subject, images obtained with Z-axis modulation were compared with previous images obtained with fixed tube current (200, 250, 300 mA) and with other parameters identical. Images were compared for noise at five levels: iliac, femoral, popliteal, tibial, and peroneal vein of lower extremity. Tube current and gantry rotation time used for acquisitions at these levels were recorded. All CT examinations of study and control groups were diagnostically acceptable, though objective noise was significantly more with Z-axis automatic tube current modulation. Compared with fixed tube current, 2-axis modulation resulted in reduction of CTDIvol (range, $-6.5%{\sim}-35.6%$) and DLP (range, $-0.2%{\sim}-20.2%$). Compared with manually selected fixed tube current, 2-axis automatic tube current modulation resulted in reduced radiation dose at MDCT of lower extremity venography.
Recently, great demands are rising around the globe for monitoring and studying of long-term ecological changes. To go with the stream, many researchers in South Korea have attempted to share and integrate ecological data for practical use. Although some achievements were made in the meantime, we still have to overcome a big obstacle that existing ecological data in South Korea are mostly spread all over the country in various formats of computer files. In this study, we aim to handle the situation by developing a semi-automatic data conversion tool for Korean ecological data standardization, based on some predefined protocols for ecological data collection and management. The current implementation of this tool works on only five species (libythea celtis, spittle bugs, mosquitoes, pinus, and quercus mongolica), helping data managers to quickly and efficiently obtain a standardized format of ecological data from raw collection data. With this tool, the procedure of data conversion is divided into four steps: data file and protocol selection step, species selection step, attribute mapping step, and data standardization step. To find the usability of this tool, we utilized it to conduct the standardization of raw five species data collected from six different observatory sites of Korean National Parks. As a result, we could obtain a common form of standardized data in a relatively short time. With the help of this tool, various ecological data could be easily integrated into the nationwide common platform, providing broad applicability towards solving many issues in ecological and environmental system.
In general, based on criteria of subway law, radius 500m from subway station is defined as SIA (Subway Station Influence Area). Therefore, in this paper, selection models of SIA are developed to identify appropriate SIA for specific legions in Seoul metropolitan city based on CHAID analysis. As a result, following outputs are obtained; (1) walking distance from subway station is the most influential factor to define SIA (2) SIAs vary with regions (i. e. Gangnam area: 767m, Gangbuk area: 452m), and (3) walking distance from subway station is influential to land price of SIA. In addition, in Gangnam, the structure of land price of the closest section has a polynomial trend curve rather than linear compared in comparison with other sections. Therefore, it is desirable for current definition of SIA (radius 500m from subway station) to be redefined to reflect characteristics of land use and walking distance according to each region respectively.
In this paper, we have proposed Auto- TSS, an automatic transcription module of three ambiguous symbols-period (.), colon (:) and slash (/)--using their linguistic contexts. Few previous studies have discussed the problems of ambiguities in reading those symbols into Korean alphabetic letters in order to improve the current Korean TTS (Text-To-Speech) systems. We have classified 9 different reading formulae of the three symbols, analyzed their left and right contexts, and investigated selection rules and distributions between the symbols and their contexts. Based on these linguistic features, 30 stereotyped patterns, 53 rules and 5 heuristics determining the types of reading formulae are investigated for Auto-TSS. This module works modularly in 4 steps. The pilot test was conducted with three test suites, which contain respectively 6,979, 3,491 and 2,450 morpheme clusters containing at least one of three ambiguous symbols and Arabic numeral(s). Encouraging results of 94.3%, 93.0%, 94.2% accuracy were obtained for the test suites. Our next phases are to develop a guessing routine for unknown contexts of the union symbols by using statistical information; to refine the proper nouns and terminology detecting module; and to apply Auto-TSS on a larger scale.

Tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding is commonly used in industries that require airtightness, watertightness, oiltightness, and precision. It is a non-consumable welding method that is commonly used for the welding of non-ferrous metals, but it can be used to weld most metals. The methods of TIG welding can be divided into three types. The first, manual welding is done directly on the metal by a welder with a torch. The second, semi-automatic welding, gets help from a material supplying machine, but it is conducted by a welder. Lastly, automated welding is conducted fully by a machine during its process and operation. Depending on the selection of electrode, the amount of heat that is applied to the base material and the electrode rod changes and makes the shape of welded parts different. A direct-current positive electrode was used for this study. Through the change of shielding gas type on a structural steel (SS-400) that is commonly used in industry, the composition and shape changes in welded parts were detected after welding. The heat-affected area, hardness value, and tensile strength were also identified through hardness testing and tensile testing. In this study, it was found that the higher hardness value of the heat-affected is, the weaker the tensile strength becomes.
We propose a new web-based automatic question-issuing system, which automatically issue some problems suited to a learner's level according to estimation and analysis of his answers examined previously and communicates interactively with him by using web. Till now, in many researches system issues problems by a learner's direct choice or randomly. So they lack compensation for learner's misunderstanding and wrong answers. This system allows a learner to determine the ratio of ease and difficulty and the number of problems at initial problem-solving time and then issues problems, which reflect his level, from problem pool. Also its accumulative estimate-analysis and current estimate-analysis make it possible for a learner to study intensively about his faulty area.

Although the approaches implementing strut-tie models are the valuable tools for designing discontinuity regions of structural concrete, the approaches of the current design codes have to be improved for the design of structural concrete subjected to complex loading and geometrical conditions because of the uncertainties in the selection of strut-tie model, in the use of an indeterminate strut-tie model, and in the effective strengths of struts and nodal zones. To improve the uncertainties, a grid struttie model approach is proposed in this study. The proposed approach, allowing to perform a consistent and effective design of structural concrete, employs an initial grid strut-tie model in which various load combinations can be considered. In addition, the approach performs an automatic selection of an optimal strut-tie model by evaluating the capacities of struts and ties using a simple optimization algorithm. The validity and effectiveness of the proposed approach is verified by conducting the analysis of the four reinforced concrete deep beams tested to failure and the design of shearwalls with two openings.

For on-line signature verification, the local shape of a signature is an important information. The current approaches, in which signatures are represented into a function of time or a feature vector without regarding of local shape, have not used the various features of local shapes, for example, local variation of a signer, local complexity of signature or local difficulty of forger, and etc. In this paper, we propose a new technique for on-line signature verification based on a structural signature representation so as to analyze local shape and to make a selection of important local parts in matching process. That is. based on a structural representation of signature, a technique of important of local weighting and personalized decision threshold is newly introduced and its experimental results under different conditions are compared.
Multi-valued decision making for transitional stochastic events was newly derived based on conditional probability of database. The two values (on-off) decision making method without transition had been proposed by one of the author in a previous work for a purpose of realizing human on-off decision making. The current method is an extension of the previous on-off decision making. By combining the conditional probability and the transitional probability, the closed form of the algorithm for the multi-valued transitional decision making was derived. The proposed multi-valued decision making was successfully applied to the determination of the five levels of the vigilance of a subject during the EEG recording; awake stage, drowsy stage and sleeping stages (stage 1, stage 2/3, REM (rapid eye movement)). The method for determining the vigilance level can be directly usable for the two purposes; selection of awake EEG segments for automatic EEG interpretation, and determination of sleep stages through sleep EEG. The proposed multi-valued decision making with a mathematical background of the probability can be applicable widely, in industries and in medical fields for purposes of the multi-valued decision making.
