It is prevalent to research on the energy saving systems using daylight. Daylight responsive dimming systems are to automatically control lighting output by available daylight for maintaining target illuminance on the workplane. The system application is not popular because of blocked daylight by shading systems. Automated roller shading systems automatically control shade height by sun position and sky conditions. Both daylight responsive dimming systems and automated roller shading systems should be integrated for energy savings and visual luminous environment. In this research, software are developed and integrated for control of integrated systems.

The purpose of this study is to develop a control software for daylight responsive dimming systems and automated roller shading systems. Developed software in this study is to used determinate sky conditions, calculation of solar profile angle, control height of roller shade, calculation of dimming level(%) for daylight responsive dimming systems.

A recent research trend on the Daylight Responsive Dimming Systems, using available daylight for energy savings, is to integrate automated roller shading systems and venetian blind systems which are vertically controlling daylight to indoor based on sun profile angle. Therefore, this paper suggests Grating Louver System into a pair glass as a new shading system, which can control daylight vertically and horizontally. The optimized spacing of louvers, which is to block direct sunlight into a space, was calculated. And then, the system was simulated for analysis and evaluation of characteristics of daylight by Desktop Radiance 2.0.

Daylight responsive dimming systems are one of lighting control systems which are to control artificial lightings using available daylight for energy savings. This system is not popular because useful daylight is usually blocked by uncontrolled passive shading systems in buildings. It is necessary to integrate daylight responsive dimming systems and automata! roller shading systems. In this research, mock-up test is performed to analyze the daylight distributions in three different rooms for integrated systems. Roller shades are installed in two rooms. One is fully downed and the other is controlled by sun profile angle. The other room has no shading system as a reference room.

Daylight responsive dimming systems are energy saving systems using available daylight. It is not popular to be adopted in buildings because of blocked daylight by shading systems. Therefore, both daylight responsive dimming systems and automated roller shading systems should be integrated. In this research, prediction process of yearly lighting energy savings is developed for application integrated systems in buildings, and then the process is applied to an example building. The predicted data which are yearly lighting energy savings using developed process in a building are useful as a part of feasibility study for determination of application of such integrated systems.
