Assessment of speckle image through particle size and image sharpness

  • In digital image correlation, speckle image is closely related to the measurement accuracy. A practical global evaluation criterion for speckle image is presented. Firstly, based on the essential factors of the texture image, both the average particle size and image sharpness are used for the assessment of speckle image. The former is calculated by a simplified auto-covariance function and Gaussian fitting, and the latter by focusing function. Secondly, the computation of the average particle size and image sharpness is verified by numerical simulation. The influence of these two evaluation parameters on mean deviation and standard deviation is discussed. Then, a physical model from speckle projection to image acquisition is established. The two evaluation parameters can be mapped to the physical devices, which demonstrate that the proposed evaluation method is reasonable. Finally, the engineering application of the evaluation method is pointed out.

  • In this paper, a lens actuator for mobile devices is proposed using stack type piezoelectric materials. In general, the deformation of PZT actuators is not enough for lens motion when the allowed voltage is applied. The small stroke problem can be solved by accumulating a lot of small displacements in high frequency. In this paper, a new inch-worm type model for focusing actuator is suggested based on the interaction of inertial and frictional forces. Theoretical analysis and simulation using ANSYS are performed to verify the feasibility of the inch-worm PZT actuator model. Various types of clamps are considered to determine the effect of frictional force on the motion, and appropriate clamp-actuator models are proposed. The proposed models are experimentally verified and the experimental results show high correspondence with theoretical and simulated values. The inch-worm type focusing actuator enable a large stroke with 7.79 mm/sec with 10kHz and 10V.

잡음에 강인한 초점 값을 이용한 피사체 중심의 자동초점 알고리듬 (Subject Region-Based Auto-Focusing Algorithm Using Noise Robust Focus Measure)

  • 본 논문은 잡음에 강인한 초점 값을 이용한 피사체 중심의 자동초점 알고리듬을 제안한다. 제안된 방법은 영상의 엔트로피를 이용하여 피사체가 존재하는 영역을 자동으로 추정함으로써, 배경에 의해 잘못된 자동초점 결과를 얻는 문제점을 개선하였다. 또한 이산 코사인 변환 계수를 분석하여 새로운 초점 값 계산 방법을 제안하였고, 실험결과를 통해 기존의 알고리듬에 비해 제안된 방법이 가우시안 잡음과 임펄스 잡음이 있는 경우에도 초점 값 특성이 강인함을 검증하였다. 제안하는 자동초점 알고리듬은 지능형 감시 시스템의 팬-틸트-줌 카메라 등에 적용 가능하다.

미세조류를 이용한 폐수처리 효율에 관한 연구: 영양염류 및 응집을 중심으로 (A Study on Efficiency of Wastewater Treatment using Microalgae: Focusing on Nutrients and Flocculation)

  • 본 연구에서는 영양염류 및 응집을 중심으로 미세조류를 이용한 폐수처리 효율에 관한 연구를 수행하였다. 미세조류 배양을 통한 폐수의 영양염류 저감의 가능성을 확인하기 위하여 미세조류의 배양에 따른 인 및 질소의 제거율을 관찰한 결과, 각각 약 92 % 및 99 % 이상의 제거율을 보였다. 효율적인 미세조류의 회수를 위하여 Auto-flocculation 조건 및 다양한 첨가물에 따른 응집실험을 진행한 결과, 응집제인 PAC(Poly Aluminum Chloride) 및 $FeCl_3$를 첨가한 경우에 각각 평균 94 % 및 92 %의 높은 응집율을 보였다. 또한, 최소한의 농도로 90 % 이상의 응집율을 보이는 최적의 조건을 찾기 위하여 응집제별 최적농도 산출 실험을 진행하였으며, 그 결과 PAC는 30 mg/L, $FeCl_3$는 40 mg/L가 최적의 농도임을 확인하였다.

차량 복합판형부품의 설계개선 기법들 (Design Enhancements for Automotive Integrated Shell Structures)

  • Recent attempt to enhance the safety against collision reshaped the simple shell structures into the integrated complex shell structures. Moreover, due to various regulations continuously tightened for environment protection, weight reduction of automobiles becomes an increasingly important issue. Auto parts lightening is mainly accomplished by more reasonable design, adoption of lighter materials and miniaturization of the auto bodies. Focusing on the locally enhanced design approach among the above three ways, we here attempt to develop a patching optimization method, and also to determine the thicknesses of an integrated shell structure, both bringing a specified amount of stress relaxation. We first select a cross member as a patching optimization model. Based on the finite element stress calculations, we relieve the stress of cross member by patching in two ways-nonuniform thickness patching and optimized uniform thickness patching, the latter of which is more effective in a practical point of view for the preset amount of stress relaxation. Selecting a box type subframe as another finite element analysis model, we then determine the thickness of each part by axiomatic design approach for a preset amount of stress relaxation. The patching methodology and the axiomatic approach adopted in this work can be applied to the other complex shell structures such as center member and lower control arm.

나노초 펄스폭을 갖는 자외선 레이저를 이용한 전자회로기판의 저항체 트리밍과 절단공정 특성에 관한 연구 (Study of Laser Trimming and Cutting of Printed Circuit Board by using UV Laser with Nanosecond Pulse Width)

  • Resistance trimming and cutting processes of printed circuit board by making use of high power UV laser with nano-second pulse width have been proposed and investigated experimentally. Also laser-based application system with high flexibility and complex has been designed and adopted power controller, auto beam size control, auto-focusing and control program developed for ourselves. The function of each module shows that they can be reliable for industrial equipments. Resistance trimming method used a plunge and double cut process with $20{\mu}m$ spot size beam. Results show that double cut process is more effective to control resistance trimming in precision than plunge cut process.

  • Defects in the vehicle itself were considered the biggest risk factor for traffic accidents as the electrical and electronic components of vehicles, which were not there before, increase. Therefore, the vehicles have been developed based on ISO 26262 (an international functional safety standard) which is focusing on functional defect safety evaluation of electrical and electronic component systems. However, in the future, as autonomous driving technology is applied, even vehicles without functional defects must be prepared for the dangerous traffic situation that may arise from exceptional or external factors. SOTIF (Safety Of The Intended Functionality) is a concept to prevent exceptional or external factors. The main objective of SOTIF is to decrease Unknown & Unsafe factors as much as possible by finding Known factors and Unsafe factors. In this study, Prescan provided SIEMENS, one of the autonomous driving simulators, is used to make scenarios of IGLAD traffic accident cases. From the simulation results, Unsafe & Safe cases were classified and analyzed to derive unsafe factors.

완전자율주행자동차의 운행 안전성 보장 제고 방안 - 독일 도로교통법 및 일본 도로교통법 개정 사항을 중심으로 (A Study for Improving Driving Safety Assurance for Fully Autonomous Vehicles - Focusing on Amendments of the German Road Traffic Act and the Japanese Road Traffic Act)

  • In the commercialization stage of level 4 or higher autonomous driving, the need for new legal system related to drive safely has increased in order to meet the improved level of technological development. Especially human drivers should not be legally accountable for road safety in the era of autonomous vehicles and thus safety standards for operation of autonomous vehicles are significant. To address this issue, the German Road Traffic Act was revised in 2021, adding provisions corresponding to the commercialization of self-driving vehicle of level 4 and in the similar context the Japanese Road Traffic Ac was amended in 2022. This Article draws implications for legislative discussions on driving-related responsibilities of driverless autonomous vehicle to ensure driving safety in Korea through recent amendments in Germany and Japan.

렌즈 모듈 생산 공정에서 조립 정렬을 위한 자동 초점 제어 (Automatic Focus Control for Assembly Alignment in a Lens Module Process)

  • This study proposed an auto focusing method for a multi-focus image in assembling lens modules in digital camera phones. A camera module in a camera phone is composed of a lens barrel, an IR glass, a lens mount, a PCB board and aspheric lenses. Alignment among the components is one of the important factors in product quality. Auto-focus is essential to adjust image quality of an IR glass in a lens holder, but there are two focal points in the captured image due to thickness of IR glass. So, sharpness, probability and a scale factor are defined to find desired focus from a multi-focus image. The sharpness is defined as clarity of an image. Probability and a scale factors are calculated using pattern matching with a registered image. The presented algorithm was applied to a lens assembly machine which has 5 axes, two vacuum chucks and an inspection system. The desired focus can be determined on the local maximum of the sharpness, the probability and the scale factor in the experiment.

  • 본 논문에서는 얼굴을 자동 초점(Auto-focus) 디지털 카메라의 관심영역(ROI : Region Of Interest)으로 이용하는 시스템에서 요구되는 검출 영역의 안정적인 선택을 위한 방법을 제안한다. 이 방법은 디지털 카메라와 모바일 카메라에 포함되는 ISP(Image Signal Processor)에서 실시간으로 처리되는 프로그레시브 입력 영상에서 얼굴 영역을 관심영역으로 간주하고 자동으로 초점을 맞추는 방법이다. 얼굴 영역 검출을 위하여 사용한 학습 알고리즘은 에이다부스트 알고리즘을 이용하였다. 학습에 포함되지 않은 기울어진 얼굴에 대한 검출방법과 검출 결과에 대한 후처리 방법, 관심영역이 흔들리지 않고 일정한 영역을 유지하도록 하기 위한 안정화 대책을 제안한다. 제안된 ROI 영역 안정화 알고리즘에 대한 성능을 평가하기 위하여 움직임이 있는 얼굴에 대하여 기준 궤적과의 차이를 보이고, 각 궤적의 회귀곡선과의 RMS 오차를 안정화 성능평가의 척도로 이용하였다.
