  • Because of a large number of subcarriers, the high PAPR(Peak-to-Average Power Ratio) is the major drawback of NC-OFDM system used for wireless communication system. Comb type pilot assignment is more efficient and lower computational complexity for the channel estimation than the block type pilot. However, even if the CAZAC(Constant Amplitude Zero Autocorrelation) matrix transform is used for the PAPR reduction of the data symbols, PAPR increases when the pilot is inserted in comb type with the data symbols. Therefore, in this paper, we additionally use a new SLM technique in order to lower the PAPR again even in the comb type pilot. Also, a new SLM technique suggested in this paper does not need any additional bandwidth for sending selection information for SLM. This combined method has good PAPR reduction performance and efficient data transmission.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to develop a predictive model for patient visibility in Korean ICUs (corridor or continental type). Methods: The measures of static visibility were used to quantify the patient visibility (upper third part of the patient bed) from the nurse station. The measure of space programme and area distribution (patient zone percentage, staff zone percentage and departmental gross square meter per patient bed) were calculated by using AutoCAD and MS Excel programs. Regression analysis was conducted for visibility as dependant variable with independent variables of patient area percentage, staff area percentage as well as departmental gross square meter per bed by using IBM SPSS. Results: (1) Average patient visibility and percentage of patient area in ICU shows a strong negative correlation ($r^2$=0.66), p=0.01. (2) Patient visibility in Korean ICU (corridor or continental type) can be calculated as below with the given conditions: Y= $-1.449(X)+124.3{\pm}6$, Y is the total visibility of the ICU (corridor or continental type) and X is the percentage of patient area in the unit. Conditions:1. Given that the unit has a mixed programme of open bed and closed patient rooms and 2. The unit have a minimum of 20% patient rooms. Implications: This study may contribute to the visibility analysis of existing and future ICU design (corridor or continental type) in Korea to achieve maximum patient visibility and reduced patient mortality.

  • Rainfall data is necessary component for water resources design and flood warning system. Most analysis are used long-term hourly data of surface synoptic stations from the Meteorological Administration, Ministry of land, Infrastructure and Transport and others. However, It will be used minutely data of more high density automatic weather stations than surface synoptic stations expecting to increase the frequency of heavy precipitation. But minutely data has a problem about quality of rainfall data by auto observation. This study analyzed about quality control method using automatic weather station's minutely rainfall data of meteorological administration. It was performed assessment of the quality control that was classified quality control of miss Data, outlier data and rainfall interpolation. This method will be utilized when hydrological analysis uses minute rainfall data.

  • The relationship between household attributes and trip generation can only be found in Seoul Metropolitan Household Travel Survey, which has been implemented every 5 years. However, various household attributes' impact on trip generation has not been analyzed closely. This paper compared and analyzed those impact. The results could be useful when trip generation models are studied in the future. They are as follows. The household size should be an important classification criteria when household trip generation is estimated. The traditional assumption that the relationship between household auto ownership and trip generation is positive and linear correlation should be reconsidered. Weekday travel data only did not showed that housing type has an influence on trip generation. Household income is unrelated with trip generation among single-person household, while multi-person household is related strongly. However, when trips are classified by purpose, impact of household income on trip generation are varied by trip purpose. Especially, the increase in single-person household can not be overlooked when trip generation is forecasted.

  • In this study, the authors develop a methodology for a diagnostic system with a vibration parameter that is influenced by environmental factors. The data tends to have a varying average over time. Often, these features are found in statistical data retrieved from a production line. If we utilize existing statistical techniques for these features, we could derive an incorrect diagnostic conclusion based on the different average values. To overcome the limitations of previous methods, the authors apply a function analyzed through regression analysis to predict the mean value and corresponding upper and lower limits at each stage. This technique also provides corresponding statistical parameters in varying dynamic means. To validate the proposed methods, we retrieve data from the engine assembly line of H Motors and verify the results.

  • Objectives : HPL-1, a novel herbal medicine which is composed of five herbs such as Kalopanacis Cortex, Chaenomelis Fructus, Raphani Semen, Atractylodis Rhizoma and Pulvis Aconiti Tuberis Purificatum, was developed for treatment of osteoarthritis. This study is aimed to develop analytical method for consistent quality control of HPL-1 and validate chromatographic method. Methods : Chromatographic analysis was performed using ultra-high performance liquid chromatography - diode array detector (UHPLC-DAD) equipped with RP-amide column, column oven, and auto sampler. Marker compounds [protocatechuic acid, chlorogenic acid, liriodendrin, 3,5-dicaffeoylquinic acid, ${\beta}$-D-(3-O-sinapoyl)-fructofuranosyl-$\alpha$-D-(6-O-sinapoyl)glucopyranoside and benzoylmesaconine] were separated by step gradient elution of acetonitrile and 0.1% phosphoric acid/water. The method validation was evaluated by quantitative validation parameters of linearity, accuracy, precision, limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) according to KFDA guideline. Results : An optimized method for six marker compounds in HPL-1 was established by UHPLC-DAD. The correlation coefficient (R2) with each calibration curve was greater than 0.99. The LOD and LOQ were within the range of 0.008-0.090 and $0.023-0.274{\mu}g/mL$, respectively. The relative standard deviation (RSD) of intra- and inter-day variability were less than 4.0%. The result of recovery test was range from 93.3-106.3% with RSD < 4.0%.Conclusions : These results suggest that the quantitative UHPLC method is precise, accurate, effective for quality evaluation of HPL-1. The method may also contribute to improve quality of crude drug preparations used for treatment of various diseases.

  • This paper deals with correction of frequency offset and analysis of quantization angle noise in the IEEE 802.1la OFDM system. The rotation phase per symbol due to the carrier frequency offset is estimated from auto-correlation of the short Preambles, which are over-sampled for the reduction of noise in OFDM signals. The pilot signals are introduced to estimate the rotation phase per OFDM symbol due to estimation error of the carrier frequency offset and the sampling frequency onset. During the estimation and correction of the frequency onsets, a CORDIC processor and a look-up table are used for the conversion between a rotation phase and its complex number. Being calculated by a limited number of bits in the CORDIC processor and the look-up table, the rotation phase and its complex number have quantization angle errors. The quantization errors are analyzed as SNR (signal to noise ratio) due to the quantization bit numbers. The minimum bit number is suggested to meet the specification of IEEE 802.1la properly. Finally, the quantization errors are evaluated through simulations on number of quantization bits and SNR of received signals.

  • This paper proposes an efficient frequency offset estimation algorithm for MB-OFDM based UWB systems. The time-frequency interleaving in MB-OFDM extends the time-interval between two transmitted OFDM symbols in the same sub-band. The extended time-interval causes not only the degradation of the system performance by reducing frequency offset estimation range, but also the increase of the hardware complexity by requiring the larger number of storing samples. The proposed estimation algorithm expands the estimation range by applying the proposed sign detection scheme. Simulation results show that the estimation range is increased above 30 ppm compared with a conventional auto-correlation based scheme. The estimation is performed on only one sub-band, and the frequency offsets of the others are calculated by relation to center frequency. This way reduced the number of the storing samples by about l/3. The frequency offset estimator with the proposed algorithm was designed into the architecture which minimizes hardware overhead by time-sharing operators and memory units, and which was synthesized to gate-level circuits using $0.13{\mu}m$ CMOS technology, and the total gates were about 47K.

  • This study aims to explore mathematical belief system and core belief factors to be found. The mathematical belief system becomes an auto regulation device for students' using mathematical knowledge in mathematical situations and provides them with the context to perceive and understand mathematics. They have individual mathematical beliefs for each of mathematics subject, mathematical problem solving, mathematical teaching and learning and self-concept, and these beliefs of students construct mathematical belief system according to mutual relationships among the mathematical beliefs. Using correlation analysis and multiple regression, mathematical belief system was structuralized and core belief factors were found. Mathematical belief system is structuralized and, as a result the core belief factors that are psychological centrality of high school students' mathematical belief system are found to be persistence, challenge, confidence and enjoyment. These core belief factors are formed on the basis of personal experiences and they are personal primitive beliefs that cannot be changed with ease and cannot be shared with other people but they are related with many other beliefs influencing them.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the foot shape and size specification of male high school students. 3D modeling programs such as 'Artec Studio', 'CATIA', and 'Auto CAD' measured the 3D scan data of 361 male high school students provided by KATS. Through principal factor analysis, 10 factors were extracted, including foot length, medial-lateral ratio, and foot length ratio. As the result of the cluster and ANOVA with post-hoc test (Duncan method), the differences among types were clarified. Type 1 (24.7%) represented outward medial-lateral ratio (M-L ratio) with the lowest instep, ankle and little deformed first toe. Type 2 (41.8%) was characterized by the shortest, even M-L ratio, thin ankle and heel, the highest instep and ankle. Type 3 (33.5%) showed the longest, inward M-L ratio, thick ankle and heel, and deformed first toe. As the cross-tabulation of foot length and ball circumference, 17.2 percent was not covered by KS standard; in addition, the foot length was longer than the KS standard. The correlation analysis of key dimensions showed that foot length and ball circumference were highly correlated with other items; therefore, regression equations were derived to estimate other foot measurements using these two items as independent variables.
