The authors used association rules and patterns in sequential of data mining in order to raise the efficiency of engineering changes. The association rule can reduce the number of engineering changes since it can estimate the parts to be changed. The patterns in sequential can perform engineering changes effectively by estimating the parts to be changed from sequence estimation. According to this result, unnecessary engineering changes are eliminated and the number of engineering changes decrease. This method can be used for improving design quality and productivity in company managing engineering changes and related information.
Fragmentation is one factor to affect productivity and economic efficiency of mine. Authors investigate the blasting pattern and improve it step by step while observing the fragmentation results. Final pattern was suggested and the fragmentation improved 24 % compared to traditional pattern, with 50 % is passing rate.
This study tried to figure out the framework of safety culture in railway industry to analyze root causes of railway incidents and accidents at Korean National Railway. Through the literature survey, authors found some critical dimensions common to railway safety culture such as employees' belief in the managers' management weight on safety and productivity, recognition of safety importance, risk taking attitude, practice of safety meeting before and after doing work, communication between management and employees and among drivers, traffic managers and infrastructure maintenance workers, safety reporting practice, safety and performance appraisal, effectiveness of safety audit, safety training, work place arrangement, incidents and accidents investigation, and safety knowledge management.

Consumables used in Chemical Mechanical Polishing (CMP) have been played important role to improve quality and productivity. Since the properties of consumables constantly change with various reasons, such as shelf time, manufactured time, lot to lot variation from supplier and so on, CMP results are not constant during the process. Also, CMP process results are affected by multiple sources from wafer, conditioner, pad and slurry. Therefore, multiple sensing systems are required to monitor CMP process variation. In this paper, the authors focus on development of monitoring system for CMP process which consist of force, temperature and displacement sensor to measure the signal from CMP process. With monitoring systems mentioned above, complex CMP phenomena can be investigated more clearly.
Accurate counting and packaging pills is one of the most fundamental works of the pharmaceutical industry. But it is so labor consuming and very hard to be automated. As the pharmaceutical industry is growing bigger, the need of counting and packaging automation is increasing to obtain effective mass production. Precise and quick sensing is required in the counting and processing of quickly dropping pills to improve the productivity. There are many trials for this automation and automatic machine. But the performance of the existing counting machine varies with the size, shape and the dispersion degree of pills In this research, authors design the counting and packing machine of medicinal pills that is more accurate and highly trustworthy After getting analog signal from optical sensor, pill passage is discriminated from chosen characteristic feature using microprocessor.
Since their first inception a few decades ago, software components have received much attention mainly due to their alleged benefits of quality and productivity improvement. Despite this, it is yet to be agreed upon what and how components should be designed. This paper aimed to bridge the gap by proposing a collaborative process where the voice of the customer is captured and documented by employing the event and entity models. These requirement elements (WHAT) are cross-tabulated in three relation matrices in accordance with the weights provided by the business users. The requirements are fed into the algorithm invented by the authors to optimize the component grouping (HOW). This collaborative process has been successfully validated at an enterprise wide software development project. The process was effective to help the users more actively involved in the design of the system and made the whole process faster and more adaptive to the changes.

To compete with large construction companies whose dominance in market share is deepening recently, the needs for improving field production system of mid-size construction companies have increased rapidly. The development of an adequate model that focuses on the organizational size and work process of the mid-size construction companies are needed to increase productivity through the informatization in the construction industry[0]. The authors of this study used case studies on the problems of the mid-size construction companies in procuring work and presented a method to solve such problems so that the managers in head office of those mid-size construction companies can effecitively deal with multiple sites[0].

The purpose of this study is to make a contribution to the effective management of medical literature in Korean libraries and specifically to help to select medical books and periodicals by determining the value and life of medical literature by means of citation counting and analysis. This report will present methods of calculation and data collection to measure the importance, half life of medical literature and the authority of author for Korean medical libraries. The writer conducted comparative studies based on data covering a two-year period, 1970-1971, using about 16,899 citations in 1,032 articles of the above journals. The references and citations are counted and analyzed by the number of authors, periodicals. books and publication dates. By the following ratio. calculated by the citation counting and analysis, we can decide the rates of medical periodicals to books, foreign literature to domestic literature and literature of the most numerously cited. authors, for the selecting method of Korean Medical libraries. (1) It is disclosed that 61 main authors are cited 9 times. Most of them are Western authors, they are cited 14,374 times which represents 88.6 % of the total citations. (2) The cited medical literature is classified as follows: The ratio of cited medical periodicals to the cited medical books is 82.0%. (The books at a rate of 18.0%.) Therefore, the wnter concentrated the efforts on the analysis of periodicals. (3) Classification of the periodicals by countries indicates that about 11.2% of total citations are made from Korean medical literature. The medical activities in Korea are dependent on the advanced foreign countries at ratio of 88.8%. Of the foreign medical periodicals cited, Japanese literature represents only 4.5% while literature of European countries and America constitutes 84.3%. (4) If medical journals are arranged in order of decreasing productivity of articles on a given subject, they may be revealed that it is necessary to have 98 titles of key journals to cover 60% of information in the field of medical science and 60 titles for an average of 50%. (5) For the purpose of measuring the life of medical literature in Korea, the writer has calculated the half lives of periodicals and books as follows: Kinds of Literature 1. Periodicals 2. Books 3. Whole literature Half-lives 7.75 years 4.11 years 6.37 years (6) The half lives of domestic and Japanese literature in the medical science are comparatively short.
Power supply system & environment have been changed according to the universal global electrification, the pursuit of improving productivity and the convenience of life. The various kinds of modem electric facilities and almost of all kinds of digital devices embedded microprocessor are very sensitive to the supplied power quality variations. So, they are stopped and result in large economic damage when even the deterioration of power quality with short duration is occurred, which was not so fatal to the conventional industrial facilities and devices. Conversely, those facilities and digital devices generate many kinds of power quality problems such as harmonic.;, flicker, voltage drop, etc. This paper presents the status of power quality and outlines the development of a new power quality monitoring system based on the experience of a series of authors' researches and field measurements for industrial customers in Korea. It also proposes the functions of the monitoring device and the efficient analysis method based on the Korean electrical act and international standards on power quality. Finally, the authors suggest some countermeasures for advancing the power quality to cope with the competitive electric power market and customers' needs after domestic restructuring of electric power industry.
