Objectives : The aim of this study is to develop the official Korean translation of the CARE guidelines. Methods : CARE guidelines were developed in 2013 though a consensus of experts led by the CARE group. It is the first reporting guideline for case reports that includes a 13-item checklist. We contacted the main author of the original manuscript and obtained permission to develop the Korean translation. The translation process followed a systematic protocol designated by the CARE group which included an independent back translation and confirmation from the original author. Results : The Korean translation of the CARE guidelines was completed with approval from the original author. The Korean checklist is posted on the official website (www.care-statement.org) and the final translation of the manuscript is introduced in this article as an appendix. Conclusions : We hope that this will help introduce the CARE guidelines to Korean authors and other stakeholders, induce a more active use of reporting guidelines, and eventually contribute to the overall improvement of the reporting quality of case reports published in Korean literature.

In contemporary society, many fishery industries face a serious problem of having an insufficient number of junior ship officers and engineers. Even though many fishery high schools in Korea made significant effort to produce many talented junior officers and engineers, but after graduation, the students are reluctant to get a job on the fishing vessels. Furthermore, Korean government also invested a large amount of money to train students for ocean-going and costal & near-ocean fishing vessels. However, despite the government's great effort on the training program and education, only a few students wish to work on the fishing vessels. In this article, the author tried to find answers for various questions such as what are the factors that the student prefer, where the student to want to get a job in fishery industries, and how student feel about working at fishing vessels. Furthermore, the author also analyzed the differences between high school student group and Korea Institute of Maritime and Fisheries Technology(KIMFT) student group about occupational orientation by utilizing SPSS statistical program. Additionally, the author surveyed the current onboard status of job position of the high school and KIMFT alumni. This study's results and data will be used for aiding further stimulation and advertisement of job position in fishing vessels and continued daily lives on board.
Objectives : The purpose of this study is to examine if Radix Aconiti herbal acupuncture may be effective to the neuropathic pain(mechanical allodynia, cold allodynia) in a rat model of neuropathic pain. Methods : To produce the model of neuropathic pain, under isoflurane 2.5% anesthesia, L5 spinal nerve was ligated by 6-0 silk thread. After neurophathic surgery, the author examined if the animals exhibited the behavioral sign of allodynia. The allodynia was assessed by stimulating the medial malleolus with von frey filament and acetone. Three days after the neuropathic surgery, Radix Aconiti herbal acupuncture was injected at Hwando($GB_{30}$) one time per two days for 2 weeks. After that, the author examined the withdrawal response of neuropathic rats' legs by von frey filament and acetone stimulation. And also the author examined c-Fos in the midbrain central gray of neuropathic rats and the change of WBC, RBC, HGB, HCT count in the blood of neuropathic rats. Results : The Radix Aconiti herbal acupuncture injected Hwando($GB_{30}$) decreased the withdrawal response of mechanical allodynia that assessed with von frey filament in RA1-$GB_{30}$, RA2-$GB_{30}$ group as compared with control group. The Radix Aconiti herbal acupuncture injected Hwando($GB_{30}$) decreased the withdrawal response of chemical allodynia(cold allodynia) that assessed with acetone in RA1-$GB_{30}$, RA2-$GB_{30}$ group as compared with control group. The Radix Aconiti herbal acupuncture injected Hwando($GB_{30}$) showed the significant between control group and RA2-$GB_{30}$ group in the c-Fos expression. The Radix Aconiti herbal acupuncture injected Hwando($GB_{30}$) did not show the significant between control group and RA1-$GB_{30}$ group, RA2-$GB_{30}$ group and RA3-$GB_{30}$ group in the WBC, RBC, HGB, HCT count. Conclusions : We have noticed that Radix Aconiti herbal acupuncture at Hwando($GB_{30}$) decreased mechanical allodynia and cold allodynia in the model of neuropathic pain compared with the control group. C-fos expression in the central gray of that group was also decreased compared with the control group. This study can be used as a basic resource on a study and a treatment of pain.
Rhabdomyosarcoma is relatively rare in general pediatric population. Furthermore, the primary site in the thorax is one of the least sites. Because most patient, when first seen, are extensively advanced and bad in prognosis, an adequate work-up prior to any definitive therapy must be undertaken. Author experienced 2 cases of embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma originating from chest wall. Both 2 cases are included in Group III [Rhabdomyosarcoma-Intergroup Protocol Grouping], one case is treated with radical surgery and radiation therapy, and the other case is treated with radiation therapy and chemotherapy. So author present 2 cases of embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma with reference.

Objective : Patriniae Herba (PH) has long been used as a remedy for treating infectious diseases in Korea. In the present experiments, the author examined the effects of PH on the cholecystokinin-octapeptide (CCK)-induced acute pancreatitis (AP) in rats. Methods : Male Wistar rat weighing 200 to 250 g were divided into three groups. Normal untreated group, in treatment with PH group; PH (1g/kg) was administered orally, followed by $75\;{\mu}g/kg$ CCK subcutaneously three times, after 1, 3 and 5 h. This whole procedure was repeated for 5 days. In treatment with saline group, the protocol was the same as in treatment group with PH. The author determined the pancreatic weight/body weight ratio, the levels of pancreatic HSP60, HSP72 and the secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines. Methods : Repeated CCK treatment resulted in the typical laboratory and morphological changes of experimentally induced pancreatitis. PH was significantly decreased the pancreatic weight/body weight ratio in CCK-induced AP. Futhermore, the author demonstrated that PH increased HSP60 and HSP72 compared with CCK-induced AP. Additionally, the secretion of $TNF-{\alpha},\;IL-1{\beta}$ and IL-6 the levels of amylase and lipase were lower than that saline. Conclusions : These results suggest that PH may has a inhibitory effect against CCK-induced AP.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the difference about pathogenesis of smoker and non-smoker. Author used DSOM to investigate oriental pathogenesis. Smoke group is consisted of people who have history of smoke, and they don't have history of lung disease(Athma, tuberculosis, COPD, suchlike). Non-smoke group is consisted of people who have no history of smoke and they also don't have history of lung disease. Author carried out each group's PFT(Pulmonary Function Test) by AST(American Thoracic Society) method. DSOM was used for pathogenesis investigation of two groups. There was significant difference between smoke group and non-smoke group in FVC (p<0.05), and In non-smoke group, there was significant difference between male and famale in FVC, FVC%, FEV1, FEV1%. There was significant difference between smoke group and non-smoke group in Heat(熱), Cold(寒)(p<0.05). In Male grouop there was significant difference between smoker and non-smoker in deficiency of Deficiency of Yin(陰虛), Heat(熱). In non-smoke group comparison of sex, there was significant difference between male and female in Deficiency of blood(血虛), dampness(濕)(p<0.05). This result showed that the difference of pathogenesis between smoke group and non-smoke group.
The purposes of this study were to test the negative association between schizophrenia and rheumatoid arthritis(RA) and to clarify the role of prolactin and estrogen as protective factors in this association. The author compared the prevalence rate of RA between 561 patients with schizophrenia and 222 patients with mood disorder. For investigating the role of estrogen and prolactin, the author checked the plasma prolactin and estradiol level in 80 patients with paranoid schizophrenia and 77 patients with RA. The results were as follows. 1) Epidemiological data The prevalence rate of RA in the schizophrenic group was 0/561 and that of RA in the mood disorder group was 2/222. To compare these results between two groups, the author applied the Binomial test using the average prevalence rate of RA(0.8%) in the general population as a reference rate. The prevalence rate of RA in the schizophrenic group was significantly lower than that of RA in the general population. However, the prevalence rate of RA in the mood disorder group was not significantly different to that of RA in the general population. 2) Comparison of plasma prolactin and estradiol level between two groups The plasma level of prolactin in the schizophrenic group was significantly higher than that of prolactin in the RA group(p=0.000). However, the plasma level of estradiol in the schizophrenic group was significantly lower than that of estradiol in the RA group(p=0.017). These results were not consistent across gender. To contrast with the results in the female group, which were consistent with the results in the total subjects, for the male group, the plasma levels of prolactin and estradiol in the schizophrenic group were significantly higher than those of prolactin and estradiol in the RA group. These results support the results of previous studies which confirm the negative association between schizophrenia and RA. These results also suggest that the elevation of plasma prolactin level in the patients with schizophrenia has a antirheumatic effect while the elevation of plasma estradiol level in the patients with RA has a anti-schizophrenic effect, and that these effects act as a possible mechanism in the negative association between two disorders. However, these results suggest that this association is specific to female patients.
In order to obtain the basic data concerning the optimal lasing conditions in using Nd:YAG laser as an adjunctive modality of periodontal therapy of root planing without irreversible structural deterioration of cervical cementum, the author selected 36 human teeth having no cervical abrasion and caries (; 12 anteriors, 12 premolars. 12 molars) extracted due to periodontal diseases, and divided them into 4 groups as Group I, II, III and IV (; each group of 3 anteriors, 3 premolars, 3 molars), and prepared a cementum specimen with thickness of $1.0mm{\pm}0.2mm$ sectioned longitudinally at the middle of mesio-distal thickness (; Group I) or horizontally at 1mm-2mm below the cemento-enamel junction (; Group II, III, IV) from each tooth of each group by low speed diamond wheel saw, and treated them with 0.5 M ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid (; EDTA, pH=7.4) for 2 minutes for elimination of remnants during tooth-sectioning. And the author applied the laser energy from a fiberoptic delivered, free running, pulsed Nd:YAG laser (; wavelength 1064nm. pulse duration $120{\mu}sec$, fiber diameter $320{{\mu}m}$) to cementum surfaces in triplicates of one experiment under the following lasing conditions: 1. stationary mode of fiber in contact to cementum surfaces without air-spray (; Group I )/with air-spray (; Group II), 2. unidirectional moving mode of fiber in contact to cementum surfaces under speed of 3mm-4mm/sec without air-spray (; Group III)/with air-spray (; Group IV), 3. energy per pulse (mJ/pulse) [; energy density ($J/cm^{2}$)] in order of 1.0W/10Hz (100J/pulse); $124J/cm^{2}$, 0.5W/10Hz (50mJ/pulse); $62J/cm^{2}$, 0.4W/10Hz (40mJ/pulse); $50J/cm^{2}$, 0.3W/10Hz (30mJ/pulse); $37J/cm^{2}$, 4. exposure time of 1 second. And the author applied the platinum coating on surfaces of cementum specimens, and evaluated the characteristics of ultrastructural change on surfaces of cementum using the scanning electron microscopy. In general the ultrastructural loss of cervical cementum irradiated under the same lasing condition of laser energy density occurred least in specimens of Group IV. And especially, the ultrastructural loss of cervical cementum irradiated under the laser energy density of $37J/cm^{2}$ almost did not occur in specimens of Group IV. Therefore, it is considered that the pulsed Nd:YAG laser should be applied with the lasing conditions of unidirectional moving mode of fiber in contact to cementum surfaces under speed of 3mm-4mm/sec with air-spray and of laser energy density within $37J/cm^{2}$ as an adjunctive modality of periodontal therapy of root planing without irreversible structural deterioration of cervical cementum.

The Bee Venom Acupuncture injected Hwando(GB30) showed the significant difference between control group and BV-2 group, control group and BV-3 group in the c-Fos expression and U count. Conclusion : We have noticed that Bee Venom Acupuncture at Hwando(GB30) decreased mechanical allodynia and cold allodynia in the model of neuropathic pain compared with the control group. C-Fos expression in the central gray of that group was also decreased compared with the control group. Psin control using Bee Venom Acupuncture was accumulated as time goes by. This study can be used as a basic resource on a study and a treatment of pain.
44 Temporomandibular Disorders(TMDs) patients with non-trauma and non-iatrogenic origin pressented at Wonkwang University Dental Hospital. They were grouped into experimental subjects and 85 persons without TMSDs were classified into control groups. The objectives of this study was to investigate the effects of recent life changes on the symptom severity and treatment course of TMDs. For that purpose, the author used several scales and indices, namely, Social Readjustment Rating Scale(SRRS) devised by Holmes and Rahe, SRRS-Korean revision by Hong and Jeong, Helkimos Anamnestic index, Clinical Dysfunction index, and Visual Analogue Scale treatment index(VAS Ti) transformed from VAS by the author. Data resulted from the investigation were collected by scale or index and processed with SPSS. The obtained results were as follows : 1. Life change units(LCU) and values of indices of experimental group were higher than those of control group. 2. Life change units recorded with SRRS-Korean revision were higher than those with original SRRS in all cases and significant positive correlations existed, between he two Therefore, clinical use of original SRRS in Korea is reliable and valid. 3. In experimental group, LCU were positively correlated with Helkimos Clinical Dysfunction index and VAS treatment index, but in control group LCU were not correlated with any items. From this, increase of life changes in patient with TMDs is likely to aggravate TMJ dysfunction and more likely to complicate treatment course.
