  • Software process (SP) authentication is a certification system designed in order to improve software process and ensure software reliability of the Korean small and medium enterprises (SMEs). It is composed of 3 grades, 17 evaluation items and 70 detailed evaluation items (software process). In order to certificate grade 2, 42 detailed evaluation items must be satisfied. In order to certificate grade 3, all 70 detailed evaluation items must be satisfied. SMEs are more vulnerable to manpower and material resources than the major company. Therefore, it is difficult for SMEs to invest in the long term to improve the software process. If we can provide the core evaluation items to SMEs, SMEs will be able to improve software quality more efficiently and effectively. It can be used as a short way to acquire SP authentication. The evaluation items of SP are defined as influencing each other. Therefore, the core evaluation items might be established using related techniques. Although we searched for previous researches and related informations, the associated study was insufficient. In this study, ANP (Analytic Network Process) technique was applied, and the core evaluation items of SP authentication were established. SMEs will be able to acquire SP authentication more easily using the core evaluation items. Finally, we expect that this study will be used as a basis material for creating the SP 2.0 version.

  • In this paper, authentication technologies for X-ray inspection images in container merchandises are introduced and a method of authentication for X-ray inspection images is proposed. Until now, X-ray images of container merchandises have been managed without any authentication of inspection results and environments, it means that there was no any action for protection of illegal copy and counterfeiting of X-ray images from inspection results. Here, authentication identifies that who did inspect container X-ray images and, whether the container X-ray images were counterfeited or not. Our proposed algorithm indicates to put important information about X-ray inspection results on an X-ray image without affecting quality of the original image. Therefore, this paper will be useful in determining an appropriate technology and system specification for authentication of X-ray inspection images. As a result of experiment, we find that the information can be embedded to X-ray image without large degradation of image quality. Our proposed algorithm has high detection ratio by Quality 20 of JPEG attack.

  • Authentication mechanisms coupled with strong encryption techniques are used for network security purposes; however, given sufficient time, well-equipped intruders are successful for compromising system security. The authentication protocols often fail when they are analysed critically. Formal approaches have emerged to analyse protocol failures. In this study, Communicating Sequential Processes (CSP) which is an abstract language designed especially for the description of communication patterns is employed. Rank functions are also used for verification and analysis which are helpful to establish that some critical information is not available to the intruder. In order to establish this, by assigning a value or rank to each critical information, it is shown that all the critical information that can be generated within the network have a particular characterizing property. This paper presents an application of rank functions approach to an authentication protocol that combines delaying the decryption process with timed authentication while keys are dynamically renewed under pseudo-secure situations. The analysis and verification of authentication properties and results are presented and discussed.

  • A new optical one-time password (OTP) authentication method using digital holography is proposed, which enhances security strength in the authentication system. A challenge-response optical OTP algorithm based on two-factor authentication is presented using two-step phase-shifting digital holography, and two-way authentication is also performed using challenge-response handshake in both directions. Identification (ID), password (PW), and OTP are encrypted with a shared key by applying phase-shifting digital holography, and these encrypted pieces of information are verified by each party by means of the shared key. The encrypted digital holograms are obtained by Fourier-transform holography and are recorded on a CCD with 256 quantized gray-level intensities. Because the intensity pattern of such an encrypted digital hologram is distributed randomly, it guards against a replay attack and results in higher security level. The proposed method has advantages, in that it does not require a time-synchronized OTP, and can be applied to various authentication applications. Computer experiments show that the proposed method is feasible for high-security OTP authentication.

  • In this paper, we introduce the UTOPIA Smart City Security Management System which manages a user authentication for smart cities. Because the smart city management system should take care of huge number of users and services, and various kinds of resources and facilities, and they should be carefully controlled, we need a specially designed security management system. UTOPIA is a smart city system based on ICT(Information and Communication Technology), and it has a three tier structure of UTOPIA portal system, UTOPIA processing system and UTOPIA infrastructure system. The UTOPIA processing system uses the smart city middleware named SmartUM. The UTOPIA Smart City Security Management System is implemented in the application security layer, which is the top layer of the SmartUM middleware, and the infrastructure security layer, which is the lowest layer. The UTOPIA Smart City security management system is built on the premise that it supports all existing user authentication technologies. This paper introduces the application security layer and describes the authentication management in the application security layer.

  • While the broadband network and multimedia technologies have been developing, the commercial market of digital contents also has been widely spreading with recently starting IPTV. As the IPTV services are getting to be generalized and popularized, the contents protection and authentication system tends to draw more attentions. So we need a system that can protect contents and allow only authenticated person to use right service by controling user authority and using content encryption. Until now, the conventional protection and authentication system is taking advantages of merits both in CAS and DRM. But the weak point of this system are in high costs, complexity and using HW. For resolving these problems, in this paper, we proposed IPTV contents protection and authentication system using OTP. When we transmit the content encrypted by OTP key using contents delivery technology, we operate XOR with contents using another settop-box's OTP key which was transmitted from distribution server. And contents are reconstructed and transmitted to the settop-box, In the end, downloaded content are encrypted by OTP key and are superior in content protection when contents redistribution. Since OTP use double-authentication elements in encryption process, this method is excellent in content protection. And it is very effective in cost aspect because it could be implemented by SW program. Another benefit is that we can shorten the development time period. In this paper, we propose and find its possibility as a new content protection and authentication method suitable for IPTV services.

  • RFID system is the contact-less recognition technology and use for distribution system, environment, transport, security and so on. However, it may create many security relevant problems such as privacy because constraints of RFID communication environment. So several methods of resolving these problems have been proposed. Recently, Shin and Park proposed an efficient RFID authentication protocol with protecting user's privacy using hash function and exclusive-OR.. But Ahn and Bu et al. poia problem that a attacker can to masquerade as malicious reader because their protocol can't providing mutual authentication.nted out weakness of Shin and Park's protocol and proposed more secure and efficient protocol. Unfortunately, Ahn and But's protocol has In this paper, We propose an improved RFID authentication protocol providing mutual authentication. The proposed protocol has advantages that providing mutual authentication between a tag and a reader, secure against replay attack and spoofing attack. Also, it guarantees anonymity of RFID tag and secure against location tracking attack by collusion of malicious readers.

  • Most web sites, information systems use the ID/Password technique to identify and authenticate users. But ID/Password technique is vulnerable to security. The user must remember the ID/Password and, the password should include alphabets, numbers, and special characters, not to be predicted easily. User also needs to change your password periodically. In this paper, we propose the user authentication method that the user authentication information stored in the external storage to authenticate a user. If another person knows the ID/Password, he can't log in a system without the external storage. Whenever a user logs in a system, authentication information is generated, and is stored in the external storage. Therefore, the proposed user authentication method is the traditional ID/Password security technique, but it enhances security and, increases user convenience.

  • The IEEE 802.1x standard provides an architectural framework which can be used various authentication methods. But, IEEE 802.1x also has vulnerabilities about the DoS, the session hijacking and the Man in the Middle attack due to the absence of AP authentication. In this paper, we propose a WLAN secure system which can offer a robust secure communication and a user authentications with the IEEE 802.1x framework. The user authentication on the WLAN secure system accomplishes mutual authentications between authentication severs, clients and the AP using PKI and prevents an illegal user from intervening in communication to disguise oneself as a client, the AP or authentication servers. Also, we guarantee the safety of the communication by doing secure communication between clients and the AP by the Dynamic WEP key distribution.
