  • In this paper, we proposed an algorithm which could transmit reliable data between smart devices by using inaudible high frequency of audible frequency range and cyclic redundancy check method. The proposed method uses 18 kHz~22 kHz as high frequency which inner speaker of smart device can make a sound in audible frequency range (20 Hz~22 kHz). To increase transmission quantity of data, we send mixed various frequencies at high frequency range 1 (18.0 kHz~21.2 kHz). At the same time, to increase accuracy of transmission data, we send some mixed frequencies at high frequency range 2 (21.2 kHz~22.0 kHz) as checksum. We did experiments about data transmission between smart devices by using the proposed method to confirm data transmission speed and accuracy of the proposed method. From the experiments, we showed that the proposed method could transmit 32 bits data in 235 ms, the transmission success rate was 99.47%, and error detection by using cyclic redundancy check was 0.53%. Therefore, the proposed method will be a useful for wireless transmission technology between smart devices.

  • In this paper, we proposed a method of a hearing aid suitable for the sensorineural hearing impaired. Generally as the sensorineural hearing impaired have narrow audible ranges between threshold and discomfortable level, the speech spectrum may easily go beyond their audible range. Therefore speech spectrum must be optimally amplified and compressed into the impaired's audible range. The level and frequency of input speech signal are varied continuously. So we have to make compensation input signal for frequency-gain loss of the impaired, specially in the frequency band which includes much information. The input sigaal is divided into short time block and spectrum within the block is calculated. The frequency-gain characteristic is determined using the calculated spectrum. The number of frequency band and the target gain which will be added input signal are estimated. The input signal within the block is processed by a single digital filter with the calculated frequency-gain characteristics. From the results of monosyllabic speech tests to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm, the scores of test were improved.

  • An underwater speaker was designed and used as sound source for thronging shoal of squid in squid angling gear operation. The frequency characteristics of the designed speaker was analyzed experimentally and the thronging response of shoals of squid which may be a key parameter for a new sound catching method, was characterized in audible frequency. The field experiment was carried out in the coast of Cheju Island. The results of this study are summarized as follows; 1. Amplitude response of the speaker shows a maximum in their the frequency of 500Hz. 2. The output waveform distortion is not measured in the frequency range of 250~600Hz. 3. A underwater noise of shoals of squid which were thronged by fish lamp in night appeared the center frequency of 300~400Hz. 4. The shoals of squid shows a thronging response, when a manufactured underwater speaker transmits a intermittent audible sound of 300~400Hz in 10m depth of water.

  • The existing methods for control between smart devices in near used Bluetooth, WiFi-Direct, or socket communication using Wi-Fi. However, those have a problem that can not use when operating system of each smart devices is different or when socket server is not working. In this paper, we proposed a new near control technology using High frequencies in audible frequency between smart devices to supplement the problem of existing methods. High frequencies use micro-phone and speaker of smart device and are a control signals that is combined high frequencies within 18kHz ~ 22kHz among audible frequency range. The proposed technology using High frequencies do not need any extra communication modules or socket servers and can use the most smart devices without operating system of devices. To evaluate the performance of the proposed technology, we developed a music play and music control application applied the proposed technology and tested a control experiment using the developed applications. The control success rate was 97% and recognition rate of surrounding people about using high frequencies was under 5%. Therefore, the proposed technology will be the useful technology to control between smart devices in near.

  • Recently, there are serviced user customized advertisement of various type using smart device. Representative services are advertisement service using light of smart TV screen or audible sound of smart TV to transmit advertisement information. However, those services have to do a specific action of smart device user for advertisement information or need audible audio information of TV contents. To overcome those weakness, therefore, we propose an advertisement method using inaudible sound of speaker based on smart device. This method supports the transfer of advertising content to the smart device user with no additional action or TV audio signal required to access that content. The proposed method used two high frequencies among 18kHz ~ 22kHz of audible frequency range which smart TV can send out. And it generates those frequencies synthesized with audio of TV contents as trigger signal which can send advertisements to smart device. Next, smart device analysis the trigger signal and request advertisement contents related to the signal to server. After then, smart device can show the downloaded contents to user. Because the proposed method uses the high frequencies of sound signals via the inner speaker of the smart device, its main advantage is that it does not affect the audio signal of TV content. To evaluate the efficacy of the proposed method, we developed an application to implement it and subsequently carried out an advertisement transmission experiment. The success rate of the transmission experiment was approximately 97%. Based on this result, we believe the proposed method will be a useful technique in introducing a customized user advertising service.

  • Where there are all the flowers, the songs of all kinds of insects and birds are put in, the sunshine and shadows flicker The forest through which the water sound flows is an optimum resting space. All living creatures in these spaces will awaken the five senses of humans and perhaps turn the sensibility index (EQ). The forest meditation in the forest, which can be an optimal shelter for the people who need it, needs to feel the reverence of nature, to refine emotions, to be a self-reflection, to have a mind to respect, Have an important meaning. In this paper, we tried to consider the cause of the influence of forest sounds on human hearing from the acoustical aspect. The type of sound source of forest was divided into four seasons of spring, summer, autumn, winter. And the change in the duration of the sound during the four seasons, so that the general characteristics of the sounds of the four seasons are as follows: It can be seen that the change in the ratio of sub-band energy is almost equal to the change in dB in frequency of the equal-light curve. To compare this phenomenon, the criterion for changing the sound duration of each forest is natural The main forms of the luminance curve, such as the change in the duration of the white signal in the sound, are determined by the minimum, maximum audible frequency and the most sensitive frequency band, and the auditory characteristics of the other three inflection points Determines the overall shape of the equal-light curve.

  • In this study, we analyzed two types of echolocation calls used by the parti-coloured bat, Vespertilio sinensis. Bats were captured in the Naejangsan National Park in October 2013. Call sounds of hand-released bats were recorded at the location of capture within the National Park. We analyzed pulse duration (PD), pulse interval (PI), peak frequency (PF), maximum frequency ($F_{MAX}$), minimum frequency ($F_{MIN}$), and bandwidth (BW). V. sinensis emitted the different types of the echolocation calls depending on the surrounding environment. Frequency modulated-constant frequency (FM-CF) signal of audible range was emitted when they flew in the uncluttered space over the canopy. However, when flying in the cluttered space below the canopy, they only emitted FM signal. FM-CF signal is in the audible range (e.g., low frequency), and FM signal has a harmonic broadband frequency range of two. There were significant differences in PD, PI, PF, FMAX, FMIN, and BW between the calls emitted over and below the canopy. Considering the functional characteristics of FM and CF signals, we conclude that the foraging activity of V. sinensis was observed below the canopy, and recommend the use of FM signal and broadband as echolocation signals.

  • Aerodynamic flow control phenomena were investigated with a low-current DC surface discharge plasma actuator. The plasma actuator was found to operate in three different discharge modes with similar discharge currents of about 1 mA or less. Stable continuous DC discharge without audible noise was obtained at higher ballast resistances and lower discharge currents. However, even with continuous DC power input, a low-frequency self-pulsed discharge was obtained at lower ballast resistances, and a high-frequency self-pulsed discharge was obtained at higher set-point currents and higher ballast resistances, both with audible noise. The Schlieren image reveals that the low-frequency self-pulsed mode produces a synthetic jet-like flow implying that a gas heating effect plays a role, even though the discharge current is small. The high-frequency self-pulsed mode produces pulsed jets in a tangent direction, and the continuous DC mode produces a steady straight pressure wave. Particle image velocimetry (PIV) images reveal that the induced flow field by the low-frequency self-pulsed mode has flow propagating in the radial direction and centered between the electrodes. The high-frequency self-pulsed mode and continuous DC mode produce flow from the anode to the cathode. The perturbed region downstream of the cathode is larger in the high-frequency self-pulsed mode with similar maximum speeds.

  • RPWM(Random Pulse Width Modulation) is a switching technique to spread the voltage and current harmonics on the wide frequency area. Using randomly changed switching frequency of the inverter, the power spectrum of the electromagnetic acoustic noise cab be spread to the wide-band area. The wide-band noise is much more comfortable and less annoying than the narrow-band one. So RPWM have been attracting an interest as an excellent method for the reduction of acoustic noise on the inverter drive system. In this paper a new RPPWM (Random Position PWM) is proposed and implemented. Each of three pulses is located randomly in each switching interval. Along with the randomization of PWM pulses, the space vector modulation is executed in the C167 microcontroller also. The experimental results show that the voltage and current harmonics were spread to wide band area and that the audible switching noise was reduced by proposed RPPWM method.
