대전지역 대학생의 스트레스와 식생활관리 조사(II) (Stress and Dietary Life of College Students in Daejeon Area(II))

  • 남녀 대학생의 스트레스 정도와 식생활관리조사(I)에서는 조사대상자의 일반적 특성, 체중, 신장, BMI, 조사대상자의 성별에 따른 BMI에 의한 비만도, 스트레스를 받는 정도와 지속성, 스트레스를 받는 경우 음식섭취에 관한 사항, 스트레스의 원인과 해소방법에 대해 조사하였다. 연구 (I)에 이어 본 연구에서는 조사대상자의 일반적 특성에 따른 스트레스 시 선호하는 음식 맛과의 관계, 스트레스 해소를 위해 음식 섭취 후 느낌과의 관계, 스트레스와 생활 습관의 관계, 스트레스와 성격과의 관계, 스트레스와 비만도(BMI)의 관계에 대해 조사하였다. 스트레스 시 선호하는 맛은 매운 맛과 단맛이며 스트레스 해소를 위해 음식 섭취 후 느낌은 조사대상자의 연령, 전공, 한 달간 사용 용돈에 따라서는 유의한 차이가 없었다. 수면과 건강상태가 나쁠수록 스트레스가 심하고 운동량, 흡연량, 음주량, 평소 건강에 대한 관심에 따른 스트레스 정도에도 유의적인 차이는 없었다. 또한 성격이 급할수록 스트레스 정도가 심하며 비만도에 따른 스트레스 정도에는 유의적인 차이가 없었다. 이상의 결과로 대학생들의 스트레스 관리를 위한 올바른 식생활과 생활태도 실천에 대한 영양교육이 요구된다.

마산시 초.중 교사의 건강에 대한 관심도와 영양지식, 식생활 습관 및 영양 태도의 상호 관련성 분석 (Analysis of Correlation among Health Consciousness and Nutrition Knowledge, Dietary Habits and Nutrition Attitudes of Elementary and Middle School Teachers in Masan City)

  • This study investigated the correlations among the health consciousness, nutrition knowledge, dietary habits and nutrition attitudes of school teachers. The subjects of this study were 75 male and 152 female leachers in elementary and middle schools in Masan city. The survey was conducted by using a questionnaire. Even though the average body mass index (BMI) and the obesity index were normal in both male and female subjects, 33.3% of the male subjects were overweight/obese, while 18.5% of the female subjects were underweight, according to the obesity index. The food components of most concern during mealtime were (in order of importance) salt, MSG and cholesterol by male subjects, and salt, fat and MSG by female subjects. The subjects considered self-relaxation as the most important factor in maintaining optimal health status, followed by resting, bathing or use ova sauna, moderation in diet, exercise, decreasing alcohol intake, and no smoking. Newspapers/magazines and TV/radio were the primary sources of nutrition and health information of the subjects. As the degree of health consciousness increased, scores of the dietary habits and nutrition attitudes increased. Nutrition knowledge scores and nutrition altitudes scores increased with subjects'increased level of perception of the importance of acquiring nutrition knowledge and nutrition information. There was a highly significant correlation between the degree of health consciousness and dietary habit score (${\gamma}$ : 0.3, p<0.001). The degree of health consciousness was also significantly correlated (${\gamma}$=0.6, p<0.001) with nutrition attitudes scores. But the correlation between the degree of health consciousness and nutrition knowledge was not statistically significant. The degree of the perception of the importance of nutrition knowledge showed a positive correlation with nutrition attitude (${\gamma}$:0.4, p<0.001) and dietary habit (${\gamma}$:0.3, p<0.001). The degree of perception about the importance of nutrition knowledge and nutrition information was positively correlated with nutrition knowledge (${\gamma}$:0.2, p<0.001) and nutrition attitudes (${\gamma}$:0.3, p<0.001).

체육전공 남학생과 비전공 남학생의 영양지식, 식태도 및 식습관에 관한 연구 (The Nutrition Knowledge, Attitudes, and Dietary Habits of Physical Education Majors and Non-majors of Male College Students)

  • This study was performed to investigate the nutrition knowledge, attitudes, and dietary habits of physical education (PE) major and non-majors of male college students. The subjects were 253 students residing in Gyeonggi area. Nutrition knowledge scores of PE major students were lower than that of non-major students. Both PE major and non-major students reported TV, radio, and internet as their primary sources of nutrition information. Overall dietary attitude scores of two groups did not differ significantly, but PE major students showed more positive attitudes than non-major students for 'Enjoy eating foods that are good for health'. PE major students took more number of meals a day and took more irregularly than non-major students. Also they used more nutrient supplements than non-major students. PE major students drank more amounts of alcohol and drank more frequently than non-major students. But the smoking status of the two groups was not significantly different. PE major students scored higher than non-major students in dietary habits on balance of meals in spite of their low nutrition knowledge scores. 대구 S병원 뇌졸중 환자의 생활 습관 및 식습관에 관한 조사 연구 (A Study on the Food Habits and Attitudes of Cerebrovascular Accident Patients in Daegu S Medical Center)

  • 뇌졸중은 그 발병 자체가 치명적일 뿐만 아니라 다양한 합병증과 후유증을 야기하여 환자에게 심각한 신체적 정신적 고통을 남기고 장기적인 재활치료를 요구하며 환자 가족들에게까지 정신적 경제적 고통을 야기시킨다. 본 연구는 대구 S병원의 뇌졸중 환자들의 생활 패턴 및 식행동 특성을 분석하고 뇌졸중을 일으키는 생활 습관 및 식생활 관련 위험요인을 파악하여 지역민의 뇌졸중 예방을 위한 영양교육의 기초자료를 얻고자 수행되었다. 연구 내용은 뇌졸중 환자들의 일반 특성, 생활 습관 및 식태도 등의 내용을 포함한 설문지를 이용하여 조사자와 직접면접을 통하여 이루어졌다. 2005년 2월부터 8월까지 뇌졸중으로 대구 S병원의 신경외과 병동에 입원한 환자와 신경외과 외래를 정기적으로 방문하는 환자를 환자군으로 선정하였다. 환자군의 선별은 임상적 증상에 의해 신경외과 의사의 진단을 받은 30세 이상의 경우로 국한하였다. 환자군 36명에 대한 정상 대조군은 동일병원에 뇌졸중 질환이 없고, 환자와 유사한 조건의 건강한 환자 보호자 및 원내 직원 36명을 대상으로 하였으며, 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 1) 뇌졸중 환자군에서 체질량 질수(BMI)는 건강인과 비슷하였으나 WHR은 대조군에 비해 유의적으로 높게 나타났다. 2) 뇌졸중 환자의 동반질병으로는 고혈압, 당뇨병, 위장질환 순으로 높게 나타나, 고혈압은 뇌졸중 발병 위험을 높여주는 위험요인으로 사료된다. 3) 뇌졸중 환자는 과거 흡연가와 현재 흡연가의 비율이 대조군에 비해 유의적으로 높게 나타나, 흡연이 뇌졸중 발병 위험을 높이는 위험 요인으로 사료된다. 4) 주당 음주 횟수에 관한 조사 결과, 환자군이 대조군에 비해 유의적으로 높게 나타나, 음주횟수 및 음주량 증가가 뇌졸중 발병 위험을 높이는 요인 중 하나로 사료된다. 5) 뇌졸중 환자군의 식욕을 돋우는 입맛으로 짠맛이 유의적으로 높게 나타나, 뇌졸중 동반 질병인 고혈압과 짜게 먹는 식습관이 뇌졸중 발병에 밀접한 관계가 있는 것으로 사료된다. 결론적으로 본 연구 결과, 뇌졸중 환자에 있어서 위험요인은 복부 비만, 흡연, 음주, 운동 부족, 짜게 먹는 식습관과 관련이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 그러므로 올바른 생활 습관 및 식습관을 유지하고 다양한 식품을 규칙적으로 섭취하면 뇌졸중을 예방에 도움이 될 수 있을 것으로 여겨진다. 아울러, 뇌졸중의 위험인자 관리를 위한 식이요법의 중요성과 이에 대한 구체적인 식이요법 교육 프로그램과 실천이 절실히 필요하다. 뇌졸중은 발병 후 치료하기보다는 위험성을 증가시키는 여러 위험요소를 찾아내어 이를 관리하고 예방하는 것이 더욱 중요하다고 하겠다. 뇌졸중은 다른 질환과 달리 위험인자가 알려져 있고, 위험인자를 관리하느냐에 따라 예방이 가능하며, 또 이미 발병한 환자의 경우 재발 방지도 가능한 것으로 보고되고 있다. 이미 서구에서는 뇌졸중 예방을 위한 범국민적 교육을 통해 뇌졸중에 의한 사망률이 현저히 감소했으나, 우리나라의 경우는 그렇지 않다. 한국인 사망률의 수위를 차지하는 뇌졸중의 인한 재발 방지를 위해서는 획일적 영양교육보다 환자 개인에 적합한 개별적 영양교육이 이루어져야 할 것이다.

성인의 운동실천양상과 건강수준간 관련요인분석 - 초등학교 교직원을 중심으로 - (Relevance of Health Status and Exercises Patterns in Adults)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between life style and health status of the staffs of an elementary school to understand exercise practices and life styles and to analyze the self-efficacy and the factors that affect it concerning walking exercise. The subjects were m9 staff member of the 10 elementary school in Seoul and materials were collected through an organized examination table from October, 1999 to May 2000. The people health awareness table was used as a variable for life style, the 13 questionnaires made of a 5 points measure was for the self efficacy concerning walking exercise. The data was analyzed through a statistics package made of a Chisquare-test, t-test, ANOVA and a regression analysis. The major results of this study were as follows; 1) 50% of the staffs were practicing regular exercise, 3/4 of them practiced walking, jogging and mountain climbing that don't need equipment and exercise frequency was 1-2 times per week 64%. of the time and exercise span was under 30 minutes in 38%, the highest 2) The average of self-efficacy concerning walking exercise was 3.6 points but the answers "I can walk enough to be in a sweat", "I can walk according to my exercise plan" were relatively low. 3) The explanation degree of the Model was 14% in a regression analysis between self efficacy concerning walking exercise and as a dependent variable for a regular walking exercise plan, regular health examination, routine health status, and breakfast might serve as an explanation degree. According to the results of this study, the suggestions were as follows: 1) The chronic invalid was not enough in the change of life style after chronic disease, most of all, it need the awareness of change, of active health education and of public information for health promotion action practice through the prohibition of smoking, abstinence from drink, exercise and nutritional balance. 2) Concrete practice program enlargement is needed to enhance related walking exercise or of a type lecture meeting for subjects who have a positive attitude about walking exercise plans. 3) A program that can actively recommend a health promotion life style is needed when we make allowance for those who have an ordinarily healthy life style and show a high walking exercise self-efficacy.

Level of Awareness of Cervical and Breast Cancer Risk Factors and Safe Practices among College Teachers of Different States in India: Do Awareness Programmes Have an Impact on Adoption of Safe Practices?

  • Background: Breast and cervical cancers are the most common causes of cancer mortality among women in India, but actually they are largely preventable diseases. Although early detection is the only way to reduce morbidity and mortality, there are limited data on breast and cervical cancer knowledge, safe practices and attitudes of teachers in India. The purpose of this study is to assess the level of awareness and impact of awareness programs in adoption of safe practices in prevention and early detection. Materials and Methods: This assessment was part of a pink chain campaign on cancer awareness. During cancer awareness events in 2011 at various women colleges in different parts in India, a pre-test related to cervical cancer and breast cancer was followed by an awareness program. Post-tests using the same questionnaire were conducted at the end of the interactive session, at 6 months and 1 year. Results: A total of 156 out of 182 teachers participated in the study (overall response rate was 85.7 %). Mean age of the study population was 42.4 years (range- 28-59 yrs). There was a significant increase in level of knowledge regarding cervical and breast cancer at 6 months and this was sustained at 1 year. Adoption of breast self examination (BSE) was significantly more frequent in comparison to CBE, mammography and the Pap test. Magazines and newspapers were sources for knowledge regarding screening tests for breast cancer in more than 60% of teachers where as more than 75% were educated by doctors regarding the Pap test. Post awareness at 6 months and 1 year, there was a significant change in alcohol and smoking habits. Major reasons for not doing screening test were found to be ignorance (50%), lethargic attitude (44.8%) and lack of time (34.6%). Conclusions: Level of knowledge of breast cancer risk factors, symptoms and screening methods was high as compared to cervical cancer. There was a significant increase in level of knowledge regarding cervical and breast cancer at 6 months and this was sustained at 1 year. Adoption of BSE was significantly greater in comparison to CBE, mammography and the Pap test. To inculcate safe practices in lifestyle of people, awareness programmes such as pink chain campaign should be conducted more widely and frequently.

An Investigation of the Health Foods and Supplements Intake and Its Associated Factors in MiddleㆍOld Aged Adults Living in Seoul and Gyeong-Ki Area

  • The aim of this study was to investigate intake of health foods and supplements and its associated factors in middle and old-aged adults in order to contribute to health promotion of Korean population by providing a guide for proper use of health foods and supplements. About 69% of the subjects reported that they were currently taking health foods and supplements or had experiences of having them in the past, whereas 31.2 % reported they had never taken them. The most commonly used type of health foods and supplements was vitamin C as reported by 41.8% followed by others such as lactobacillus products, multi-vitamins, tonic medicine and cardiotonic drug, artificially processed Ginseng foods, vitamin B complex, enzyme supplement, calcium, aloe, apricot extract products, chitosan products, loyal honey, squalene, refined fish oil and iron products. The major reason for taking health foods and supplements was 'to protect the weak constitution' with 155 (42.1%) responses, and the motive for the intake was the suggestion from family-relatives with 235 (63.9%) responses, and the place of purchase was pharmacy with 140 (38.0%) responses, the average monthly expense was 20,000-40,000 won with 140 (26.2%) responses, and effects after the intake was 'so and so' with 180 (33.6%) responses as the highest. More health foods and supplements were consumed as age and education were statistically significantly increased (p<0.05). For health and lifestyle and the intake of health foods and supplements, perceived health status, the presence of illness, and the presence of health management were statistically significant (p<0.05). Male subjects than female subjects and the 30s than the 405 and 50s were appeared to have poorer dietary behaviors (p<0.05). For the health locus of control and the intake of health foods and supplements, the health locus of control score was 22.82 for consumers and 22.79 for non-consumers, showing no significant difference. Logistic regression analysis was performed to find out major factors that affect the intake of health foods and supplements, in which gender, education, smoking, perceived health status, the presence of illness, and health management were significant to the intake of health foods and supplements. It is shown that subjects with perception and attitude of 'health foods and supplements are useful in health maintenance and disease prevention' and 'the information and variety for health foods and supplements are great' have higher probability of taking health foods and supplements.

강원도 중학생의 성 태도와 경험 (Sexual Attitudes and Experience in Middle School Students, Kangwon-Do, Korea)

  • As an initial step toward the improvement of sexual education in middle school students, a survey on sexual attitudes and experience was done in Kangwon - Do, Korea. Questionnaires consisted of 68 items distributed to 240 boys and 240 girls from November 1 to December 20, 1996. Answers from 420 students were subjected to an analysis with SPSS. 92.4% of the girls experienced menstruation. Of them, 74.0% showed a negative reaction. 52.0% of the boys experienced night ejaculation. Of them, 81. 7% showed a negative reaction. Boys (64.3%) masturbated more than girls (17. 6%) (p= 0.0000). The understanding of masturbation was higher in boys than in girls (p = 0.0000). 87.2% of the subjects wished meetings with the opposite sex. During the meeting with the opposite sex, 12.9% of the students enjoyed drinking or smoking, 8.8% had intercourse. Boys(91.9%) watched pornography or porno-video more than girls(40.5%)(p=0.0000). 83.3% of the girls thought that both males and females should keep their virginity untill marriage. However, only 48.6% of boys thought that(p=0.0000). Of boys who had experienced sexual touch, 34.8% had intercourse. Of the 30 students(26 boys, 4 girls) who experienced sexual intercourse, 22 students had partners of the opposite sex and were friends. First intercourse 63.4% of these students had their in middle school period. The frequencys of sexual intercourse (more than 6times) was written by 12 students (40.0%). 24 students(16 boys and 8 girls) experienced sexual violence. As for dealing with sexual violence, 14 suffered by him or herself whill 7 students discussed it with a friend. There was a significant difference in the sources of information between boys and girls(p= 0.000), 36.0% had learned from an official sexual education source, usually from school nurses (74.0%). 92.6% of the students thought that sexual education was necessary. They believed that the appropriate person for sexual education was from a school nurse (53.1%) or from parents (19.5%). According to the above results, the following might be suggested: Realistic and future-directed sexual education material should be developed : Education programs to improve students insight and control sexual desire should be prepared: a systematic approach to activate the role of school nurse in sexual education should be prepared.

Community-Based Health Education and Communication Model Development for Opisthorchiasis Prevention in a High Risk Area, Khon Kaen Province, Thailand

  • Background: This study aimed to evaluate the impact of a community-based health education and communication programme on reducing liver fluke infections caused by the consumption of uncooked fish among people in a high-risk area of Thailand. Materials and Methods: The study was quasi-experimental in nature, with three-stages. Stage 1 involved a situational and capacity analysis of designated communities in Khon Kaen province. This was followed by the development of a model for community-based health education and communication to prevent liver fluke infections among high-risk people, and, lastly, implementation and evaluation of the model were performed. Data were collected using both qualitative and quantitative methods. In total, 390 people were surveyed, and quasi-experimental and comparison groups, each with 90 people, were assessed between May 2011 and April 2012. Analysis was using statistical OR, 95 % CI, the Willcoxon matched pairs signed ranks test, the chi-square test, and the Mann-Whitney U test. Results: The findings showed that most respondents had a high level of knowledge and understanding of liver fluke disease (89.5%, 95% CI:86.0-92.4), and positive attitudes toward the prevention of the disease (94.4%, 95% CI:91.6-96.4). However, with regard to changes in consumption of uncooked fish, most respondents were still in the pre-contemplation phase (55.1%, 95% CI:50.0-60.1), followed by the contemplation phase, 22.6%. Furthermore, four factors were found to be associated with the consumption of uncooked fish - the consumption of alcohol (OR 4.16, 95% CI:1.79-9.65), gender (OR 3.17, 95% CI:1.53-6.54), smoking (OR 3.03, 95% CI:1.31-7.05), and age 40 years and above (OR 2.68, 95% CI:1.02-7.05). After nine months of the health education and communication programme using local media based on local wisdom, culture and persons, the results showed that, compared to the control group, members of the experimental group had a higher level of knowledge, a better attitude and lower levels of ill-advised consumption behaviour. Also, it was found that consumption of uncooked fish, by an assessment of the level of stage of change, was reduced. (p-value 0.002). Conclusions: The health education and communication programme developed as part of the study was effective in changing the consumption of uncooked fish. Therefore, this approach should be promoted in other high-risk areas in Thailand in the future.

약물사용 청소년의 심리-사회적 특성 (THE PSYCHOSOCIAL CHARACTERISTICS OF ADOLESCENT DRUG USER)

  • 본 연구는 우리나라 청소년들 중 음주, 흡연, 본드흡입 등을 위주로 한 약물사용 청소년들에게 특징적으로 나타나는 변인들이 무엇인지를 밝히고, 이러한 변인들과 청소년의 약물사용과의 관계는 어떻게 설명되어질 수 있는지를 고찰해 보고자 하였다 서울지역 고등학교 1, 2학년에 재학중인 남자 465명과 여자 433명, 총 898명을 대상으로 자종 약물의 사용여부와 학업성적, 비행경험, 약물사용 동료수, 지각된 약물의 입수용이도, 가족의 훈육도, 부모 외 일반적인 음주와 흡연에 대한 태도 및 자아개념 수준과 정신건강 수준을 조사하였다. 전체 표본을 사용하고 있는 약물의 수에 따라 남자 6집단, 여자 5집단으로 구분하여 위에 열거한 변인들이 집단에 따라 차이가 있는지를 검증하였다. 결과 우리나라 청소년들이 가장 많이 사용하는 약물은 담배와 술이었으며, 남자의 경우는 환각물질을, 여자의 경우는 진통진정제를 사용하는 이들이 상당수 있었다. 남자와 여자에게서 각 약물의 사용율을 전반적으로 차이가 있었으나, 그럼에도 불구하고 각 집단에 따른 변인들의 차이검증 결과는 크게 다르지 않았다. 일반적으로 여러종류의 약물을 사용하는 집단이 그렇지 않은 집단에 비해 학업성적이 낮고 비행경험 및 약물사용동료가 많았다. 또한 전자가 후자에 비해 비교적 낮은 정신건강수준과 자아개념수준을 나타냈다. 한편 차이를 나타냈던 여러변인들 중에서 무사용집단과 가장 많은 수의 약물을 사용하는 집단을 변별하는 두드러진 변인은 일반적인 적대감과 비행경험인 것으로 판별분석 결과 나타났다. 많은 종류의 약물을 사용하는 학생일수록 일상생활의 여러 측면에서 부적응적인 양상을 나타낸다는 본 연구의 결과는 약물의 사용은 공통적인 여러변인들과 관계가 있으며 많은 약물관련변인을 지닌 사람이 더 많은 약물을 사용하게 된다는 공통위험요인이론에 부합되는 것이라고 할 수 있다.
