The instruments for this study were the modified IPBI(Iowa Parent Behavior Inventory: Mother Form), the Attachment Q-set by Waters and the modified ISCS(Iowa Social Competence Scales: Preschool Form). The data were analyzed by frequency, t-test, Pearson's r, and Multiple Regression Analysis. Major findings were that the responsive maternal parenting behavior was positively related to the preschoolers' attachment security. The guidance of maternal parenting behavior was positively related preschoolers' social activator of social competence. And there were significant correlations between the preschoolers' attachment security and social competence. • Purpose: This study aimed to identify the factors affecting on depression among female middle school students. Methods: A survey was conducted on 217 first and second grade female middle school students in C city. Participants' general characteristics, home environment, level of depression, paternal, maternal, peer attachment, school adjustment were measured by self-reporting questionnaire. With SPSS 18.0 program, measured variables were analyzed and compared using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheff$\acute{e}$ post hoc test, and stepwise multiple regression analysis. Results: The level of depression among female middle school students were higher among students with lower economic status, second in birth order, and second grade in school. The level of depression was negatively associated with the level of paternal attachment (r=-.522), maternal attachment (r=-.487), peer attachment (r=-.376), relationship with teachers in school adjustment (r=-.274), relationship with friends in school adjustment (r=-.378), classroom behavior (r=-.450), school regulation (r=-.267). About 42% of depression among female middle school students were explained by paternal attachment, relationship with friends in school adjustment, and classroom behavior. Conclusion: Paternal attachment was identified as the most influencing factor on depression among female middle school students. Encouraging paternal involvement in the process of school adjustment might be a useful intervention to decrease depression among middle school girls.

  • This study examines the types and characteristics of traumatic events middle-aged women experience and to explore the effects of attachment in the process of post-traumatic growth and forming a self-realization. 221 of participants were middle-aged women from the area of Seoul, Gyeong-Gi and the survey was composed of post-traumatic experience questionnaire, attachment scale, post-traumatic growth scale, self-realization scale. The type and characteristics of traumatic experience by middle-aged women were executed by frequency analysis and correlation with the structural equation model validation was used in order to analyze the relationship between each variable. the major findings are First, the loss of someone close(such as death, breaking up, divorce, breaking off) was reported as something general yet the biggest crisis event, Second, looking at the relationship between attachment, post-traumatic growth and self-realization, the secure parental attachment and spiritual transformation showed the correlation in all subregions except the subvariables of humanity and self-acceptance and Third, the results of Structural Equation Modeling shows that attachment has a static effect on post-traumatic growth and self-realization, and post-traumatic growth appeared to be the mediating factor of attachment and self-realization.

  • Compulsive hoarding becomes a problem when the spaces hoarded items are stored in become unusable due to clutter, health, or safety issues. Our research purpose was to document relationships between two non-normative consumer behaviors (compulsive hoarding, compulsive buying tendency) and two shopping-related variables: hedonic shopping motives and emotional attachment to possessions with everyday consumers. As hedonic shopping motives have been related to compulsive buying, we predicted these motives (e.g., adventure, gratification, role, value, social, and idea) are related to compulsive buying. We also examined the relationship between compulsive buying and compulsive hoarding tendency and whether emotional attachment to possessions moderated this relationship. Participants were 280 undergraduate and graduate students attending a Midwestern university in the U.S. Regression analysis revealed the enhancing emotion motive (a combined motive of adventure and gratification) positively influenced compulsive buying whereas the value motive negatively influenced compulsive buying. All other hedonic shopping motives were non-significant. Participants who tended to buy compulsively were likely to hoard compulsively. This relationship, however, was moderated by participants' emotional attachment to possessions. Participants with high emotional attachment to possessions showed a higher level of hoarding behavior than those with low emotional attachment to possessions. However, the increase in hoarding tendency among participants with low emotional attachment to possessions was larger between those who were low in compulsive buying and those who were high in compulsive buying than the increase between these two groups among participants with high emotional attachment to possessions.

  • This study investigated intergenerational transmission from mother's attachment representation to infant's attachment pattern and the associations between maternal attachment representation and their childhood experiences. Subjects were forty 12- to 15-month-old infants and their mothers. The Adult Attachment Interview (Main & Goldwyn, 1984) was used to assess mother's attachment representation. The Strange Situation (Ainsworth, 1978) was used to classify infant's attachment relationship. Mothers were classified as autonomous (F), dismissing (Ds), preoccupied (E), or unresolved/disorganized (Ud). Infants were classified as secure (B), insecure-avoidant (A), insecure-resistant (C), or insecure-disorganized (D). Exact A/B/C/D and Ds/F/E/Ud agreement was observed in 30 of 40 dyads(75%). Maternal childhood experiences were related to maternal attachment representation.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the structural relationship model between teacher attachment, peer attachment, self-encouragement, career self-efficacy, and career maturity and to analyze the direct or indirect effect among latent variables. 220 elementary school students in a Cheongju were sampled. Four measurement instruments were employed; the Teacher Attachment Peer Attachment Scale, Self-encouragement Scale, the Career self-efficacy and the Career Maturity scale. The Collected data were analyzed by correlation and regression alalysis with SPSS program and Structural Equation major Modeling(SEM) and fitness of the final model were CFI=.957, TLI=.951, RMSEA=.049. The results of this study were as follows: First, there were significant positive correlations among teacher attachment, peer attachment, self-encouragement, career self-efficacy, and career maturity. Second, according to the structural equation modeling, the results showed that self-encouragement and career self-efficacy mediated the effect of teacher attachment, peer attachment on career maturity.

  • Purpose: This descriptive correlational study was designed to examine the relationship of attachment security to social anxiety and depression. In addition, the mediating effect of self competency in relation to attachment security and the other variables was investigated. Methods: Data were collected from 194 students in grade 5 or 6, and descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficient, and hierachical multiple regression were used with SPSS/PC 12.0 program to analyze the data. The instruments used were Kerns, Klepac and Cole's Security Scale, La Greca & Stones' Revised Social Anxiety Scales for children (SASC-R), Cho and Lee's Korean form of Kovacs' children's Depression Inventory (CDI) and Harter' Self-perception Profile for Children. Results: There were significantly negative effects between attachment security and the variables, social anxiety and depression. Also, self competency was negatively correlated with social anxiety and depression. Self competency had a significant mediating effect on the relation of social anxiety and depression to attachment security. Conclusion: For the effective management and prevention of social anxiety and depression in school-aged children, programs including strategies to increase self competency should be developed. These programs can increase self competency which has a mediator role between attachment security and the other variables (social anxiety and depression).

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation among parental bonding, attachment styles, love styles and satisfaction in dating and their effects on other variables. The main findings of the study were as follows 1)The stronger the relationship with one's parents in infancy, the higher the possibility to forge secure attachment. 2)There was a significant correlation between attachment styles and love styles. 3)There was a significant correlation between attachment styles and dating satisfaction. 4)There were meaningful differences on dating satisfaction and duration among different love types. This study showed the importance of forging secure attachment between parents and children, and found related variables that can affect dating satisfaction and duration. However, the study results were based on a limited group of people, which limits the generalizability of the results to the general public. Follow-up studies that cover a wide range of age groups and related variables are necessary.
