  • In this paper I understand Zizek's interpretation of Christianity, and examine it critically and suggest its alternative. Zizek argues that Christianity in its core is turned out to be atheist. His atheist Christianity exposes revolutionary potentials with Christianity. His exploration of Christianity is designed to fight against global capitalism. It means an ideological praxis in theory. But he is misleading in interpreting Christianity. It is his fault that while he places much stress on the participatory interpretation of Jesus's death, he belittles the sacrificial interpretation of it. For the subversive power of Christianity springs from the latter. To tell the truth, Christianity is strongly grounded on simultaneous fulfillment of both of them. Zizek. In interpreting Christianity, he delivers us uncorrect understanding of sacrificial interpretation of Jesus's death while he intends to reveal the subversive core of Christianity. In particular, he is lacking in understanding the atonement function and expiation effect immanent in Jesus's death. There is no participatory interpretation without sacrificial interpretation. In this view, Zizek's pagan Christianity has to be revised or rejected. So, I suggest it is possible through orthodox Christianity, not through pagan Christianity to restore and reactivate the subversive core of Christianity in itself and by itself. The burden of proof is up to fighting theist, not fighting atheist like Zizek.

  • This study deals with needs assessment for home exercise of 233 arthritis patients, who visited 2 university hospitals in Seoul from May 27. to June. 15. 1996. Data was collected through the interview with them. As a result, we came to the following points. 1. Seventy five percent of all interviewees expressed strong will to home exercise, if they know how to do. 2. With no partners for life. the needs for home exercise were higher than those who have (P=0.016). 3. Christians(87.1%) and Catholics(86.4%) had more the need for home exercise those who have Buddhist(70.9%) and atheist (60%) (P=0.002). 4. In the direct ratio to level of education. the need for home exercise was high (P=0.027). 5. In the inverse ratio to age. the need for home exercise was high(t=6.20. P=0.0000). 6. Patients with arthritis for relatively short period of time had more than those who had long period of the disease need for home exercise(t=3.36, P=0.0013). 7. Those who have long distance from hospital had more needs for home exercise than those who line in short distance (t=3.15 P=0.002) 8. When average cost of hospital visit for each time is much. then need for home exercise was high(t=4.20, P=0.0001).

  • Purpose: This study was to investigate the relationship between the level of emotional labor and occupational job stress of hospital nursing staff. Methods: The survey was conducted from Mar. to Oct. 2009 to collect data from clinical nurses (N=496). Results: The study showed that nurses without religion and those working in big-sized hospitals had higher scores in emotional labor, and those of 26~30 years old felt the highest stress in the occupational role. The same applied to the married, more work experienced, atheist and those working in big-sized hospitals. Unmarried, under educated nurses with less work experience working in the big-sized hospitals showed higher scores in personal strain. The scores of the personal resources depended on religion, work experience, marital status and position of their jobs. Emotional labor was positively correlated with an occupational role and personal strain, respectively, but the emotional labor, occupational role and personal strain were negatively correlated with personal resources respectively. Conclusion: Intervention program is required to reduce overload of nurse's role and to relieve physical and psychological strains of the under-30-age-group. Also, social support and rational/cognitive coping must be reinforced.

With repect to age and education those 21-30, under 20 and 31-40, graduated from college and graduate school were higher than above 51, above 61 (F = 7.76, p = 0.0001), graduated from elementary school(F=4.39, p=0.0006) on folk remedies. In other categories, rural community residents, women, younger people. Christians were higher than urban residents ( t = -2.73, p=0.0305), men(t= -4.15, p=0.0001), older people (F=2.48, p=0.0307), Catholic, Buddhist, or atheist (F= 70.18, p=0.0001) on faith remedies. Those graduated from high school and Buddhist were higher than unschooled, graduated from middle school(F=3.18, p= 0.0075), atheist, Catholic or Christian(F=18.32, p=0.0001) on divination redemies. There were significant differences concerning age and education level. 4. The accessibility of caregivers rated 'caregivers should be nearby if the patients need them' (50.0), 'caregivers must be there all day (24 hours)' (39.6), 'caregivers must be there at night only'(5.0), 'caregivers must be there during the day only'(2.6), 'caregivers always should visit during visiting hours' 0.4), 'caregivers don't need to be there at all' (1.2). The frist rank of suitable caregivers were rated as spouse(66.6), mother(24.2), daughter (3.6), daughter-in-law(1.9), and the reasons of thinking thus were rated as 'the most comfortable' (81.5), 'people should correctly with regards to family they'(7.1), 'the easiest' (5.4), 'take good care of the patient' (5.1) and 'lower cost burden' (0.4). 5. The desired location of death rated as the following: his/her house (91. 6) to the hospital(8. 4). A person going to encounter death in the hospital wanted his house(78.5) over the hospital(21.5), and a person dieing in the hospital prefered his house(52.9) over the hospital(47.1) as a funeral ceremony place. The following suggestions are made based on the above results. 1. A sampling method that enhances the re presentativeness should be used in regional and/or national related research and replicated to confirm the result of this study. 2. This study should be used to understand the Korean view of medical centers and to meet the expectations of patients in Korean nursing. 3. Research on the Korean traditional view of humans and expectations of the sick, health and illness, and health behavior, the perception of dying, the decision to heal, and the view of general medicine should continue to be conducted continuosly so that Korean nursing theory can be advanced on these concepts.

  • It is well known that Deleuze began his philosophical work from researching the biographies of many predecessors' such as D. Hume, Lucretius, I. Kant, B. Spinoza, F. W. Nietzsche, H. Bergson, and etc. Among them, especially Spinoza, Nietzsche, and Bergson constitute a foundation supporting the whole idea of Deleuze. He declared that the goal of his early biographical work is a theme converging the identity of two philosophers, Spinoza and Nietzsche, and it shows that these two philosophers had such a huge significance to Deleuze, at least by then. However, we may point out two issues here. The first is why Deleuze, who is recognized as a philosopher of 'difference', deals the identity. The other issue is, what kind of identity exists between the two philosophers, Spinoza and Nietzche. In a common sense, their ideas contradict to each other. Spinoza puts God at the center of his philosophical system, whereas Nietzsche declared 'God is dead'. Though Nietzsche expressed a concurrent opinion with Spinoza at first, it is well known that he turned his side against him soon after and criticized him sharply. There is a conflict at the core of this criticism concerning the existence or non-existence of God. Many think that Spinoza, however, cannot be free from the argument that his philosophy allows a possibility of atheism. Deleuze, who also called Spinoza an atheist, suggested a new viewpoint of the philosophy of Spinoza based on his attribution to the concept of 'power'. On the other hand, Deleuze reinterpreted Nietzsche, where he analyzed 'the will to power' in a totally inventive way. Likewise, the reciprocal communication of ideas connected by the concept of 'power' gives a foundation of identifying the two philosophers to Deleuze. In this paper, considering this reciprocal communication, I intent to reveal the foundation of identity of the two philosophers, Spinoza and Nietzsche, and as a result, investigate what the concept of identity means to Deleuze, the philosopher of difference. Furthermore, we will also take a look at how Deleuze presents a new perspective on the conflict on the existence of God of the two philosophers in the process of validating the identity.
