Most of recent studies on data center networks are based on the assumption of symmetrical multi-rooted tree topologies such as a Fat-Tree. While packet scatter schemes are very effective for such a network topology, it is known that various failures can result in an asymmetric topology which degrades TCP performance. In this paper, we reexamine the effects of link failures on packet scatter schemes in Fat-Trees. Our simulation results show that in case of a single link failure in a large-scale Fat-Tree, packet reordering does not occur enough to degrade TCP performance. This implies that we do not necessarily need a complex scheme to make packet schemes robust to link failures.
In this paper, a single-sourced PV PCS using the trinary asymmetric MLI with a single-ended pre-regulator is proposed. Trinary based asymmetric CHB inverters provide higher output levels for the same number of cells compared to other CHB inverters. However, there is an issue of regeneration with trinary asymmetric inverters and this complicates the system with requirement of bi-directional converters at the input. Modified commutation strategies have been used to remove the regeneration issue with compromise in THD. The single-ended pre-regulator provides the isolated dc-link voltage for the individual H-bridge cells with the advantage of having a single switch and magnetic component. This implementation increases the magnetic utilization of the inductor core and reduces the switching loss in the pre-regulator and also the reduced parts count contributes to the cost competiveness of the proposed PCS. The proposed PV PCS has been verified using simulation results in this paper.

A two-way relaying (TWR) system is analyzed, where two source terminals with unequal numbers of antennas exchange data via an amplify-and-forward relay terminal with a single antenna. In the system considered herein, the link quality between the sources and relay can generally be asymmetric due to the nonidentical antenna configuration, power allocation, and relay location. In such a general setup, accurate bounds on the average sum rate (ASR) are derived when beamforming or orthogonal space time block coding is employed at the sources. We show that the proposed bounds are almost indistinguishable from the exact ASR under various system configurations. It is also observed that the ASR performance of the TWR system with unequal numbers of source antennas is more sensitive to the relay location than to the power allocation.

Wi-Fi-enabled portable devices have recently been introduced into the consumer electronics market. These devices download or upload content, from or to a host machine, such as a personal computer, a laptop, a home gateway, or a media server. This paper investigates the fairness among multiple Wi-Fi-enabled portable devices in a home network when they are simultaneously communicated with the host machine. First, we present that, a simple IEEE 802.11-based home network suffers from unfairness, and the fairness is exaggerated by the wireless link errors. This unfairness is due to the asymmetric response of the TCP to data-packet loss and to acknowledgment-packet loss, and the wireless link errors that occur in the proximity of any node; the errors affect other wireless devices through the interaction at the interface queue of the home gateway. We propose a QoS-provisioning framework in order to achieve per-device fairness and service differentiation. For this purpose, we introduce the medium access price, which denotes an aggregate value of network-wide traffic load, per-device link usage, and per-device link error rate. We implemented the proposed framework in the ns-2 simulator, and carried out a simulation study to evaluate its performance with respect to fairness, service differentiation, loss and delay. The simulation results indicate that the proposed method enforces the per-device fairness, regardless of the number of devices present and regardless of the level of wireless link errors; furthermore it achieves high link utilization with only a small amount of frame losses.
A novel passive boost power converter forsingle-phaseswitched reluctance motor is presented. A simple passive circuit is proposed comprisingthree diodes and one capacitor. The passive circuitis added in the front-end of a conventional asymmetric converter to obtain high negative bias. Based on this passive network, the terminal voltage of the converter side is a general DC-link voltage level in parallel mode up to a double DC-link voltage level in series mode. Thus,it can suppress the negative torque generation from the tail current and improve the output power. The results of the comparative simulation and experiments forthe conventional and proposed converter verify the performance of the proposed converter.
This paper studies on method about construction and design of two-way message system to overcome limit of one-way pager system. Method of two-way system construction is studied on using the present one-way pager system and configure system. Forward-link of proposed method is using the present one-way pager system. And Reverse-link of proposed method is used TRS and Beacon on pager. CTI(Computer Telephony Integration) is used to Call processing
In this paper, we provide the performance analyses of a dual-hop amplify-and-forward(AF) relay transmission composed of asymmetric radio-frequence(RF) and free-space optical(FSO) links. In the mixed RF/FSO system, a relay is equipped with two receive antennas for RF signals and one additional transmit antenna for FSO signals. In order to improve a performance of RF link, a switch-and-stay (SSC) diversity technique is applied at the relay which can provide a proper link performance with a low complexity. Specifically, we offer the performance analyses of the proposed system in terms of outage probability and secrecy outage probability. In numerical examples, we compare the system performances with no diversity and selection combining systems and verify our analytical results via computer-based Monte-Carlo simulations.

In this paper, we describe how to set up/down step-size in open loop power control for WiBro reverse link. Since open loop power control does not use feedback information, it is difficult to efficiently use wireless resource with accurate power control. We also provides a method of estimating levels of noise and interference. With numerical investigation, asymmetric up/down power-control step-size is shown to be promising to achieve high sector throughput as well as low error rate.
