Recent rapid advances in genetic research are ushering us into the genome sequence era, where an individual's genome information is utilized for clinical practice. The most spectacular results of the human genome study have been provided by genome-wide association studies (GWASs). This is a review of the history of GWASs as related to my work. Further efforts are necessary to make full use of its potential power to medicine.

Hepatitis is a common and serious disease for the Korean population. It is caused by a virus, the A and B types of which are plentiful in Koreans. In this study, we tried to find genetic factors for hepatitis through genome-wide association studies. We took 368 cases and 1,500 controls from Anseong and Ansan cohort data. About 300,000 single-nucleotide polymorphisms and 20 epidemiological variables were analyzed. We did not find any meaningful significant single nucleotide polymorphisms, but we confirmed the influence of major epidemiological variables on hepatitis.

environmental has given rise to a world where consumer persue satisfaction in quality and quantity of products. From this point of view, a study of the impact of logo design on brand association and consumer emotions is very important and useful. For this study, we investigate on the basis of preceding studies. Finally, it is thought that it will be necessary to conduct a more specific study on the relation between brand association and consumer emotions.

기업연상(corporate association)이 제품 평가(product responses)에 어떻게 영향을 미치는 가에 대한 연구가 부진하다는 Brown and Dacin(1997)의 문제 제기가 있은 후, 기업연상이 제품 판단에 미치는 영향과 과정에 대한 조절변수와 매개변수들을 파악하려는 연구가 진행되어 왔다. 본 연구에서는 기업연상의 두가지 유형인 CA(corporate ability) 연상과 CSR(corporate social responsibility) 연상이 성능과 재무위험에 미치는 영향력과 그 영향력을 조절하는 변수들을 조사하였다. 분석 결과에 의하면, 주효과(main effects)에 있어서는, 가설에서 기대한 바와 같이 CA 연상이 성능위험과 재무위험에 유의한 영향력을 갖는 것으로 나타난 반면, CSR 연상은 성능위험과 재무위험에 대해 유의한 영향력을 갖지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 조절변수로 인한 상호작용효과와 관련해서는, CA 연상이 성능위험과 재무위험에 미치는 주효과에 대해 제품범주 지식과 관여는 각각 유의한 조절효과를 나타내었다. 하지만, CSR 연상이 성능위험과 재무위험에 미치는 주효과에 대해서는 제품범주 지식과 관여의 조절효과는 나타나지 않았다. 이러한 연구 결과를 통하여 제품의 기능적인 속성에 대한 정보가 부족한 제품에 대해 소비자가 지각하는 위험을 감소시키기 위하여, 기업은 CSR 연상보다는 CA 연상에 대해 강조할 필요가 있다는 결론을 내리게 되었다.

This study examined the moderating role of young children's playfulness and the association between maternal parenting and young children's peer competency. The subjects of the present study were 132 4 or 5-year-old young children and their mothers recruited from child-care centers in Seoul and Gyeonggi-Do. The findings of this Study were as follows : First, maternal parenting influenced children's peer competency. Second, young children's playfulness influenced young children's peer competency. Third, the association between overprotective and permissive maternal parenting styles and young children's leadership abilities were negative only in the low cognitive playfulness group. Fourth, the association between maternal rejective and negligent parenting and young children's socialibility were found to be negative only in the low physical playfulness group.

The purpose of this study is to analyze leisure studies in human ecology of Korea and to discuss them. For this analysis, the articles which were published on the Journal of Korean Home Economics Association, the Journal of Korean Home Management Association, and the Journal of Korean Family Resource Management Association were investigated by theme, research subject, and research method. Leisure studies in human ecology began with the survey of time-use or activity patterns and they were focused on the housewives. Since the latter half of the 1990' s varied groups -especially the old- are subject to sample, and the shared leisure is studied, varied themes are studied. The research method were deflected to the survey using questionnaire all throughout the period. For the future study, we suggest that the general theories developed and the appropriate research method applied.

This study conducted a content analysis of the treatises published in JKHEA(Journal of the Korean Home Economics Association). In total, 2,136 articles published in JKHEA from 1995 to the first half of 2009 were reviewed. Articles were classified by subject matters, research methods, number of researchers, presence of research fund, language and number of reference. Although it is useful to employ content analysis in reviewing academic articles on human ecology in all journal publications, the sheer size of literature available makes this task nearly impossible. As such, we have chosen JKHEA as a popular representative journal on human ecology. This study presented the empirical results of research trends and other characteristics in JKHEA. As such, the results of this study presented a snapshot analysis of research on human ecology and future trends.

Objectives: The purpose of this study is to examine the level of community environmental perception of older adults and to identify the association between environmental perception and subjective health status among older persons. Methods: Analyses are based on data from Statistics Korea 2016 Social Survey. This study analyzed a total of 8,193 older adults aged 65 and over, and examined the association between environmental perception on air, water, soil, noise and vibration, and subjective health status using multiple regression analysis. Results: Study findings shown that environmental perception on water and soil had significant association with subjective health status of older adults. Specifically, older adults reported worse health status when they had more negative perceptions of water and soil environments in their communities. Conclusions: Results of this study suggested that efforts to enhance safety of drinking water and soil environments, and continuous research to identify relationship between environment and elderly health shoud be needed.

The definition of convergence employed in this study is a sociocultural phenomenon where different patterns, genres or fields coexist along with the existence of a knowledge based society. The focus of this study was centered on identifying the characteristics of contemporary fashion paradigm in association with changing cultural convergence according to the theories of Mark Weiser and other futurologists. The purpose of this study was to delve into the features of this paradigm in conjunction with changing cultural convergence in 21st century's knowledge-based society, and the influence of convergence paradigm on fashion. After identifying the features of knowledge-based society paradigm in association with changing cultural convergence, the characteristics of the fashion paradigm in order to ascertain and analyze fashion trends. Conclusions based on analyzed data indicate that in a knowledge-based society, paradigm change resulting from convergence phenomena contributes to facilitating the dissolution of fashion from other fields and its fusion with other areas.

The purpose of this study is try to suggest the practical trend of Home Economics Education by analyzing the trends of subject matter education in it. To do this, this study analyzed 115 articles published on The Journal of Korea Home Economics Education Association and The Journal of Korean Home Economics Association. Through this analyzing them, it is found out that teaching-teaming method and teaching materials are trend to be mainly concerned. But recently evaluation study and teacher education study in Home Economics Education have been increased. As a result, Home Economics Education needs to develop the speciality of Home Economics Education as a subject matter education.
