  • This study examined the relations between parents' reactions to their preschool child's negative emotions, coping styles, and peer acceptance. Subjects were 250 5-year-old preschoolers and their parents. Instruments were the Coping with children's Negative Emotions Scale, and coding strategies checklist and peer rating scales for children. Data were analyzed with the SPSS PC + program. Parent's emotion-focused reactions, encouragement of expression and problem-focused reactions were positively associated with both peer acceptance and child coping styles whereas parent's distress, and punitive and minimizing reactions were associated with lower Peer acceptance and child coping styles of venting, denial, aggressive action, and avoidance. In child coping styles, problem solving was positively associated with peer acceptance while aggressive action anti venting were associated with a lower level of peer acceptance. Problem solving tended to be positively associated with peer acceptance, whereas aggressive action and venting tended to be associated with lower level of peer acceptance. (4) There was a statistically significant relations among parent's reactions to preschoolers' negative emotions, preschoolers' coping styles, and peer acceptance. There were the positive relations among parent's supportive reactions preschoolers' coping styles of problem solving and seeking support, and peer acceptance.

  • This study was undertaken to determine whether the presence of fertility-associated antigen (FAA) in semen would influence semen characteristics and conception rate of artificial insemination in Hanwoo. The response to FAA of 36 heads of proven bull, 7 heads of young bull, and 27 heads of performance-tested bull was that one proven bull was FAA-negative and the others were FAA-positive, therefore FAA-negative bull was 1.4%. FAA-negative bull was lower in first and second semen concentrations than those of FAA-positive bull in 5,301 semen of 21 heads of proven bull, then FAA-negative bull was fewer as 11.5% in total sperm counts. The estrus of 22 heads was 70d-nonreturned in 36 cows first inseminated with frozen semen of FAA-negative bull, but that of 249 heads in 378 cows first inseminated with frozen semen of FAA-positive bull. Each conception rate was 61.1% and 65.9%, respectively. The difference of conception rates was 4.8%. These results indicate that the response of FAA to semen were influenced semen characteristics and conception rate of artificial insemination, but further investigations are needed to confirm the results.

  • In this paper we prove the almost sure convergence of partial sums of identically distributed and negatively associated random variables with infinite expectations. Some results in Kruglov[Kruglov, V., 2008 Statist. Probab. Lett. 78(7) 890-895] are considered in the case of negatively associated random variables.

  • We prove a central limit theorem for the negatively associated random variables in a Hilbert space and extend this result to the linear process generated by negatively associated random variables in a Hilbert space. Our result implies an extension of the central limit theorem for the linear process in a real space under negative association to a simplest case of infinite dimensional Hilbert space.

  • Let {$X_{ni}$, $i{\geq}1$, $n{\geq}1$} be an array of rowwise asymptotically negatively associated random variables and {$a_{ni}$, $i{\geq}1$, $n{\geq}1$} an array of constants. Some results concerning complete convergence of weighted sums ${\sum}_{i=1}^{n}a_{ni}X_{ni}$ are obtained. They generalize some previous known results for arrays of rowwise negatively associated random variables to the asymptotically negative association case.

  • Some conditions on the strong law of large numbers for weighted sums of negative quadrant dependent random variables are studied. The almost sure convergence of weighted sums of negatively associated random variables is also established, and then it is utilized to obtain strong laws of large numbers for weighted averages of negatively associated random variables.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to determine the neighborhood environmental factors associated with physical activity among adults living in rural communities. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive survey was conducted with a convenience sample of 201 adults living in three Ri in Y-city, Gyeonggi-do. Data were collected from face-to-face interview by trained interviewers and were analyzed using a zero-inflated negative binominal regression model. Results: Participants reported engaged in moderate or vigorous physical activity was 76.1%; 10.5% of participants reported that they met moderate physical activity recommendations and 14.5% of participants reported that they met vigorous physical activity recommendations. Zero-inflated negative binominal regression analysis showed association of increasing days of physical activity with social cohesion (${\beta}=.130$, p=.005), social network (${\beta}=-.096$, p=.003), and safety for crime (${\beta}=-.151$, p=.036), and no days of physical activity was associated with no attainment of education and marginally associated with increasing BMI. Conclusion: Neighborhood environmental factors including social cohesion, social network, and crime for safety were significantly associated with physical activity of rural adults. Community health nurses should expand an approach for individual behavior change to incorporate rural adults' specific neighborhood environmental factors into physical activity interventions.
