Objectives: This study identified the factors associated with successful smoking cessation for 6 months at a smoking-cessation clinic of a public health center in an urban area. Methods: The subjects of this study were 670 visitors to the smoking cessation clinic of Dongjak-Gu public health center in Seoul, from September 6, 2005 to March 24, 2006. The 274 visitors of them responded to the questionnaire with registration, which contained the information related to the study except that of registered card for the clinic. A dependent variable was success or failure in smoking cessation during the 6 month-smoking cessation program, measured the status of smoking cessation in each week by self-report. Independent variable included demographic information, the characteristics in using the clinic, health status and smoking related behaviour, exposure to other smokers in daily life and motivation. Multiple logistic regression model was used to find the factors associated with success of smoking cessation. Results: The success rate in smoking cessation for 6 months was 33.6%. Five pretreatment characteristics were identified as univariate predictors of continuous abstinence. Finally, age, job, and practice oriented motivation were associated significantly with the success of smoking cessation for 6 months from a multiple logistic regression analysis. The lower socio-economic smokers such as people having lower literacy level, lower income people, unskilled workers, and recipients by Medical Assistant Program were more likely to fail in continuous abstinence for 6 months. Conclusions: In order to increase the success rate in smoking cessation clinics of public centers, counselors should activate self confidence and practice oriented motivation of participants for smoking cessation.
This project has been conducted to improve the usability of Chatbot Services such as Google(Allo) and Facebook M(Messenger. Based on the evaluation, this study aims to suggest the solutions to improve the usability of domestic Chatbot services and future directions for their development. It provides the overall understanding of the AI Chatbot service and the feature of Chatbot service through literature search. Furthermore, we summarized the current standing and the prospect of domestic messenger-based assistant Chatbot services. For conducting user evaluation, Peter Morville's honeycomb model is applied to in-depth user interviews. The followings are elements that could be amended to improve the service. The service should be incorporated by intuitive elements for users' understanding its functions and eliminate any elements that interfere with usability. The accuracy should be increased to improve the user satisfaction. This research will provide the future guidelines to improve the usability of Chabot services through continuous evaluation by users.
The modified TOPMODEL of two storage systems has been integrated to the generalized assumptions of decreasing hydraulic conductivity to vertical direction. Three different recharge functions were introduced to explore the impact of the macropore flow to vortical direction, the storage at the surface zone and the relative storage deficit of the soil matrix. Combinations of these approaches provide 30 type of the model structure for the hillslope hydrology. Developed models have been applied to several hydrologic events at the Sulmachun watershed. The performance evaluation with the Monte carlo simulation suggests that the exponential function of transmissivity reduction should be appropriate form for the physically -based hydrologic simulation on the Sulmachun watershed. It has been shown that the recharge function of macropore flow contributes to improve the predictability of the generalized version of modified TOPMODEL.
ChatGPT, a chatbot based on GPT large language models, has gained immense popularity among the general public as well as domain professionals. To assess its proficiency in specialized fields, ChatGPT was tested on mainstream exams like the bar exam and medical licensing tests. This study evaluated ChatGPT's ability to answer questions related to Building Information Modeling (BIM) by testing it on Korea's BIM expertise exam, focusing primarily on multiple-choice problems. Both GPT-3.5 and GPT-4 were tested by prompting them to provide the correct answers to three years' worth of exams, totaling 150 questions. The results showed that both versions passed the test with average scores of 68 and 85, respectively. GPT-4 performed particularly well in categories related to 'BIM software' and 'Smart Construction technology'. However, it did not fare well in 'BIM applications'. Both versions were more proficient with short-answer choices than with sentence-length answers. Additionally, GPT-4 struggled with questions related to BIM policies and regulations specific to the Korean industry. Such limitations might be addressed by using tools like LangChain, which allow for feeding domain-specific documents to customize ChatGPT's responses. These advancements are anticipated to enhance ChatGPT's utility as a virtual assistant for BIM education and modeling automation.
This case research investigates on how hearing aids, which is one of disability aids, is becoming a smart device, focusing on the case of Starkey Hearing Technologies(Starkey Inc.). Starkey, founded in 1967, has been a leader in innovating forms and functions of hearing aids, and has recently introduced the world's first hearing aid implemented with AI and biological sensors. In this study, history of disability aids, hearing aids(especially Starkey Inc.'s), smart wearable devices and smart earphones are compared. It has been found that recently, there has been a breakdown of boundaries between hearing aids and smart wearable devices in terms of their functions, since entertainment and life assistant functions are added to hearing aids. Based on this trend, the development model of disability aids and smart wearable devices are derived, and according social changes are discussed.

The emergence of Chat Generative Pre-trained Transformer (ChatGPT), a chatbot developed by OpenAI, has garnered interest in the application of generative artificial intelligence (AI) models in the medical field. This review summarizes different generative AI models and their potential applications in the field of medicine and explores the evolving landscape of Generative Adversarial Networks and diffusion models since the introduction of generative AI models. These models have made valuable contributions to the field of radiology. Furthermore, this review also explores the significance of synthetic data in addressing privacy concerns and augmenting data diversity and quality within the medical domain, in addition to emphasizing the role of inversion in the investigation of generative models and outlining an approach to replicate this process. We provide an overview of Large Language Models, such as GPTs and bidirectional encoder representations (BERTs), that focus on prominent representatives and discuss recent initiatives involving language-vision models in radiology, including innovative large language and vision assistant for biomedicine (LLaVa-Med), to illustrate their practical application. This comprehensive review offers insights into the wide-ranging applications of generative AI models in clinical research and emphasizes their transformative potential.

Various methods for measuring strabismus have been developed and used in clinical diagnosis. However, most of them are based on the visual inspection by clinicians. For this reason, there is a high possibility of subjective evaluation in clinical decisions and they are only useful for cooperative patients. Therefore, the development of a more objective and reproducible method for measuring strabismus is needed. In this paper, we introduce a new software to complement the limitations of previous diagnostic methods. Firstly, we simply obtained facial images of patients and performed several preprocessing steps based on the spherical RGB color model with them. Then, the measurement of strabismus was performed automatically by using our 3D eye model and mathematical algorithm. To evaluate the validity of our software, we performed statistical correlation analysis of the results of the proposed method and the Krimsky test by two clinicians for ten patients. The coefficients of correlation for two clinicians were very high, 0.955 and 0.969, respectively. The coefficient of correlation between two clinicians also showed 0.968. We found a statistically significant correlation between two methods from our results. The newly developed software showed a possibility that it can be used as an alternative or effective assistant tool of previous diagnostic methods for strabismus.
Incident duration prediction is one of the most important steps of the overall incident management process. An accurate and reliable estimate of the incident duration can be the main difference between an effective incident management operation and an unacceptable one since, without the knowledge of such time durations, traffic impact can not be estimated or calculated. This research presents several multiple linear regression models for incident duration prediction using data consisting of 384 incident cases. The main source of various incident cases was the Traffic Incident Reports filled out by the Motorist Assistant Units of the Korea Highway Corporation. The models were proposed separately according to the time of day(daytime vs. nighttime) and the fatality/injury incurred (fatality/injury vs. property damage only). Two models using an integrated dataset, one with an intercept and the other without it, were also calibrated and proposed for the generality of model application. Some findings are as follows ; ?Variables such as vehicle turnover, load spills, the number of heavy vehicles involved and the number of blocked lanes were found to significantly affect incident duration times. ?Models, however, tend to overestimate the duration times when a dummy variable, load spill, is used. It was simply because several of load spill incidents had excessively long clearance times. The precision was improved when load spills were further categorized into "small spills" and "large spills" based on the size of vehicles involved. ?Variables such as the number of vehicles involved and the number of blocked lanes found not significant when a regression model was calibrated with an intercept. whereas excluding the intercept from the model structure signifies those variables in a statistical sense.
This study used the WGR model to generate the rainfall input and the modified Clark method to estimate the runoff with the aim of investigating how the errors from the areal average rainfall propagates to runoff estimates. This was done for several cases of raingauge density and also by considering several storm directions. Summarizing the study results are as follows. (1) Rainfall and runoff errors decrease exponentially as the raingauge density increases. However, the error stagnates after a threshold density of raingauges. (2) Rainfall errors more affect to runoff estimates when the density of raingauges is relatively low. Generally, the ratio between estimation errors of rainfall and runoff volumes was found much less than one, which indicates that there is a smoothing effect of the basin. However, the ratio between estimation errors of rainfall to peak flow becomes greater than one to indicate the amplification of rainfall effect to peak flow. (3) For the study basin in this studs no significant effect of storm direction could be found. However, the runoff error becomes higher when the storm and drainage directions are identical. Also, the error was found higher for the peak flow than for the overall runoff hydrograph.
The purpose of this study was to examine what the role of denial hygienist was. The subjects were 751 dental hygienists from dental clinics, dental hospitals, general hospitals, public dental clinics and their branches throughout the nation. After a survey was conducted, the collected data were analyzed with SPSS WIN 10.0, and variance analysis and post-analysis were implemented. And Forgarty's 8th integrated model, out of 10 ones, was selected to delve into the practical role of dental hygienist in detail. The findings of this study were as follows: 1. The three age groups had a significantly different opinion on the significance of individual subjects. The dental hygienists of thirty six and over found the basic and preventive public dental care courses most important, and the 31~35 age group placed most stock in education and research. Overall, the post-analysis results showed that prevention and clinical courses were considered most vital, followed by education and fundamental courses. 2. There was a significant gap between four groups from the different work places in their view of the weight of the individual subjects. According to the post-analysis, the dental hygienists from the general hospitals, public dental clinics and their branches gave more weight to fundamental, education and research areas. Those who were with the dental clinics, dental hospitals and general hospitals put higher value on clinical course than the dental hygienists from the public dental clinics and their branches. 3. Two groups with a different career also had a different outlook on the importance of the individual subjects. The post-analysis results illustrated that the dental hygienists who had worked for three years or more put higher stress on the fundamental course than those with a less career, and the dental hygienists with a five-year or higher career attached more importance to the education and research field than those with a smaller career. 4. There was a significant difference between the three age groups in their clinical role. The post-analysis results indicated thai the younger dental hygienists were more of assistants than of professionals, as they chiefly took X-ray photograph, handled treatment materials or performed treatment-related works. Overall, handling treatment materials was most common. 5. The three groups from the different work places significantly varied in their clinical role. According to the post-analysis, those from the dental clinics and dental hospitals took more x-ray photographs, handled more treatment materials and performed more relevant works, compared to those from the general hospitals, public dental clinics and their branches. 6. The two groups with a different career differed significantly in their clinical role. The post-analysis results suggested that the dental hygienists with a less career played an assistant role more, which handled treatment materials or carried out other relevant works. 7. The fundamental courses (I) and (II), preventive class (I) and (II) and its practice course were regarded as integrated subjects that they should take 10 offer preventive treatment, which was one of the dental hygienist missions. What's needed to act as dental-care educators was the basic courses (I) and (II), dental hygiene education and its practice. Finally, integrated clinical courses (I) and (II) and clinical practice were viewed as necessary for their role performance as dental treatment collaborators.
