Joint Channel Assignment and Multi-path Routing in Multi-radio Multi-channel Wireless Mesh Network

  • Multi-radio multi-channel Wireless Mesh Network requires an effective management policy to control the assignment of channels to each radio. We concentrated our investigation on modeling method and solution to find a dynamic channel assignment scheme that is adapted to change of network traffic. Multi-path routing scheme was chosen to overwhelm the unreliability of wireless link. For a particular traffic state, our optimization model found a specific traffic distribution over multi-path and a channel assignment scheme that maximizes the overall network throughput. We developed a simple heuristic method for channel assignment by gradually removing clique load to obtain higher throughput. We also presented numerical examples and discussion of our models in comparison with existing research.

  • Most work on cooperative diversity has assumed that the cooperating group (source and partners) and the associated average channel conditions between terminals (source, partners, and destination) are predetermined. In practical situations, however, it is important to develop the efficient algorithms for assigning the terminals with good inter-user channels for cooperating groups. In this paper, we propose the partner assignment algorithm for cooperative diversity in mobile communication systems. The proposed partner assignment algorithm is investigated by using the path loss model for mobile communication systems. Numerical results show that the proposed partner assignment algorithm provides the comparable probability of cooperative transmission to the partner assignment algorithm using exhaustive search. The probability of cooperative transmission increases with the number of users, which gives potential benefits of practical implementation to user cooperation in mobile communication systems.

The Storage Space Versus Expected Travel Time of Storage Assignment Rules in Automated Warehousing System

  • To compute the expected travel time of storage and retrieval (S/R) machine in automated warehousing systems most of the previous studies assumed that equal number of rack openings are required regardless of the nature of storage assignment rules. It is known that randomized storage assignment rule usually needs less storage to space than needed for full turnover-based assignment rule. The objective of this paper is compute the expected travel time of each assignment rule more equitably by taking into account the storage space required for each rule. First, the rack storage space is determined which satisfies a given service level. Then based on the standard Economic Ordering Quantity model, trade-off analysis is carried out which relates the storage space to the expected travel time of the S/R machine. Finally, example problems are solved to compare the performance of each assignment rule under varying conditions of demand pattern and service level.

  • 대중교통 통행배정과 관련하여 현재까지 제시된 연구들은 버스, 지하철 등 다양한 수단별 특성을 함께 고려하지 못한다는 한계가 있다. 또한, 통합거리비례요금제도의 요금에 대한 연구는 필요성에 비해 그 성과가 미미할 뿐만 아니라, 노선별 용량에 대한 고려도 미흡하다. 이외에 과거 대중교통 용량에 대한 연구가 존재하긴 하였으나 용량에 접근하면서 느끼는 혼잡도를 함께 고려하지 못했다는 한계가 있다. 이러한 문제들로 인해 현재의 대중교통 통행배정을 이용한 대중교통 정책 분석이나 노선평가는 한계를 지닌다. 본 연구는 대중교통 노선에 대한 선택 및 통행배정에 관한 기존 연구들의 한계를 극복하기 위해 앞서 언급한 여러 문제점을 고려하는 대중교통 통행배정 모형의 구축을 목적으로 한다. 이렇게 구축된 모형을 해석하기 위해 Column Generation을 기반으로 한 heuristic한 기법을 적용하였다. 그 결과 통행시간 뿐 아니라 요금, 용량 등을 반영할 수 있는 보다 개선된 대중교통 통행배정모형을 제시하였다.

TSCH-Based Scheduling of IEEE 802.15.4e in Coexistence with Interference Network Cluster: A DNN Approach

  • In the paper, we propose a TSCH-based scheduling scheme for IEEE 802.15.4e, which is able to perform the scheduling of its own network by avoiding collision from interference network cluster (INC). Firstly, we model a bipartite graph structure for presenting the slot-frame (channel-slot assignment) of TSCH. Then, based on the bipartite graph edge weight, we utilize the Hungarian assignment algorithm to implement a scheduling scheme. We have employed two features (maximization and minimization) of the Hungarian-based assignment algorithm, which can perform the assignment in terms of minimizing the throughput of INC and maximizing the throughput of own network. Further, in this work, we called the scheme "dual-stage Hungarian-based assignment algorithm". Furthermore, we also propose deep learning (DL) based deep neural network (DNN)scheme, where the data were generated by the dual-stage Hungarian-based assignment algorithm. The performance of the DNN scheme is evaluated by simulations. The simulation results prove that the proposed DNN scheme providessimilar performance to the dual-stage Hungarian-based assignment algorithm while providing a low execution time.

  • With the limited frequency spectrum and an increasing demand for cellular communication services, the problem of channel assignment becomes increasingly important. However, finding a conflict free channel assignment with the minimum channel span is NP hard. As demand for services has expanded in the cellular segment, sever innovations have been made in order to increase the utilization of bandwidth. The innovations are cellular concept, dynamic channel assignment and hierarchical network design. Hierarchical network design holds the public eye because of increasing demand and quality of service to mobile users. We consider the frequency assignment problem and the base station placement simultaneously. Our model takes the candidate locations emanating from this process and the cost of assigning a frequency, operating and maintaining equipment as an input. In addition, we know the avenue and demand as an assumption. We propose the network about the profit maximization. This study can apply to GSM(Global System for Mobile Communication) which has 70% portion in the world. Hierarchical network design using GA(Genetic Algorithm) is the first three-tier (Macro, Micro, Pico) model, We increase the reality through applying to EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility Constraints). Computational experiments on 72 problem instances which have 15${\sim}$40 candidate locations demonstrate the computational viability of our procedure. The result of experiments increases the reality and covers more than 90% of the demand.

  • 이동통신에 있어서 채널 할당 문제는 조합적 최적화 문제로 문제의 범위가 증가함에 따라 계산량이 지수함수적으로 증가하는 NP-완성형 문제이다. 본 논문에서는 Hopfield 모델을 이용하여 동일 채널 간섭, 인접 기지국 간섭, 동일 기지국 간섭등의 제약조건을 만족하여 각 기지국의 채널 요구량에 따라 채널을 할당하는 방법을 고려하였다. 본 논문에서 고려한 Hopfield 모델은 현재의 하드웨어 구현기술의 제약 요건등을 고려하여 가장 기본적인 모델을 가정하였으며, 고정 채널할당 방법에서 균일, 불균일 트래픽 요구량을 고려하였고, 동적 채널 할당 방법의 적용 가능성을 타진해 보았다.

  • 노선 계획이란 열차종별 수요를 만족하는 최적의 열차 운행 횟수를 결정하는 단계를 말한다. 이러한 노선계획의 주요 입력자료는 통행배정 모형으로부터 산출된 열차종별 구간 통행량이다. 그러나 대부분의 통행배정 모형 또한 노선계획을 통해 구한 열차 운행 횟수 혹은 시격을 입력요소로 요구하므로, 수요예측(통행배정)-노선계획의 단계적 접근은 두 계획간의 상호 모순을 초래하여 부정확한 열차종별 수요 및 노선계획을 도출할 수 있다. 본 연구는 이 두 가지 문제를 통합적으로 고려할 수 있는 최적화 모형과 이에 대한 선형 근사해법을 제시하고, 전체 한국 철도 네트워크에 적용한 실험결과를 제시한다.

  • Selection of a suitable task from the extensively available large set of tasks is an intricate job for the developers in crowdsourcing software development (CSD). Besides, it is also a tiring and a time-consuming job for the platform to evaluate thousands of tasks submitted by developers. Previous studies stated that managerial and technical aspects have prime importance in bringing success for software development projects, however, these two aspects can be more effective and conducive if combined with human aspects. The main purpose of this paper is to present a conceptual framework for task assignment model for future research on the basis of personality types, that will provide a basic structure for CSD workers to find suitable tasks and also a platform to assign the task directly. This will also match their personality and task. Because personality is an internal force which whittles the behavior of developers. Consequently, this research presented a Task Assignment Model (TAM) from a developers point of view, moreover, it will also provide an opportunity to the platform to assign a task to CSD workers according to their personality types directly.

비대칭 비용함수 기반의 통행배정모형 해석에 관한 연구 (Study on the Solution of the Assignment Model Based on an Asymmetric Cost Function)

  • 본 연구에서는 통행배정 모형이 갖는 여러 가지 가정 중 대칭적 통행비용 함수를 갖는 가정을 극복할 수 있는 방법에 대해 살펴보았다. 통행배정 문제에 있어서 대칭적 비용함수 가정이라는 것은 링크의 통행비용은 다른 링크의 교통량에 전혀 영향을 받지 않는 않으면서, 동시에 해당 링크를 통과하는 단하나의 수단에 의해서만 결정된다는 의미이다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 가정을 극복할 수 있는 비대칭 통행배정모형의 특성을 살펴보고, 그 해석 모형에 대해 고찰하였다. 이 때 대표적 비대칭 통행배정 문제인 다수단 통행배정 모형을 중심으로 문제를 정의하여 검토하였다. 대각화(Diagonalized) 알고리즘과 Column Generation에 기반한 heuristic 모형을 다수단 통행배정 모형에 적용하여 그 결과를 분석하였다. 그 과정을 통해 대각화 알고리즘은 초기해의 수단과 수렴기준 수단에 따라 서로다른 해를 갖는 복수의 평형해(Equilibria)특성을 가지고 있음을 확인하였다. 그에 비해 Column Generation에 기반한 heuristic 모형은 Euclidean Norm을 이용한 부분최적화를 통해 복수의 평형해(Equilibria)에 관한 문제점을 개선할 수 있었다.
