  • In the modem society, people try to represent and protect their traditional arts in aesthetic way along with the global society. The proposal of this thesis is about the fashion illustration that has adopted the folklike formative arts. 1 prefer the formative character rather then the universal character and I would like to use of folk paintings far the fashion illustration. Because the formative character of folk paintings is very expressional, we are able to draw a fashion illustration in easy, new, creative and less difficult way. The fashion illustration has to be a specialized field from the formative arts, and we need to study in a new way as well. We draw fashion illustration through the understanding of folk paintings and the study of analysis in formative. As a result of this study, we could draw a fashion illustration which is very abstract, exaggerative and simple. We also could expect the free hand drawing lines on this illustration. In these fashion illustrations, the human bodies let us fret the artists' tense, speed, and power. According to the important character of folk painting, which is the beauty of color, these fashion illustrations have expressed more color intensive. In the falk paintings there is a kind of rules to make color order, so the fashion illustrations that we drew have the bright and clear color combination. Because the folk paintings shouldn't be the artistic but should be the realistic, the fashion illustrations concentrate on the real subject. It is very natural looking that use the natural dyes in the fashion illustrations. According to this kind of art task, fashion illustration will be a certain part of the illustration in the modem society.

  • The purpose of this thesis is to study about destructive method in late twentieth Century Paintings. To do this we will consider the examples of Frank Stella and Anselm Kiefer's expressive methods. And this thesis is designed to investigate the change of the two Modes. The centering change is in the destructive manner of them, and they are traced systematically. In these chapters we will study the procedure of the destruction and specification of the Modes; the subject which contains the special element, the relation between it and the artist's willful meaning, morphological specification, symbol system formative language, subject, material and coloring way. etc. The origin of the methodology is systematically studied and the procedures of the content applicated are considered. In the special characteristics of the methodology, the special feactures it contains will be considered. The basis of the deconstructive idea from Nietsche, Derrida, Saussire, Andrew Benjamin and others will be applied to understand the two Modes of artistic methodology, and whether or not they can be tools of explaining the methodology of our time is distinguished. Next, the methodologically founded contents and concepts from Chapter#2 are related and intertwined together. The outer destructive aspect and inner destructive specification are centrally uncovered by the Interpretation. The resulting background of the Mode, the factor of destruction and central concept, along with the works, applied ideas, and pre-scholar's writings, are conjoined and explained. The characteristics of S Mode are revealed as being similar to those of Vandalic Destruction and Baroque formalistic Style, while K Mode is closely related to Iconoclastic Destruction and Neoclassical Antiformal Style.

  • Hybrid implies that elements in more than two are combined, and is what is merged and used complexly the technologies and materials in several fields according to the development in scientific technology and the progress in technology. In the formative and artistic aspect, the hybrid can be said to be phenomenon that two of mutually different genres are combined. The function and form in each genre, which were combined at this time, are remained wholly or partially, thereby revealing as well without hiding a fact of having been combined. In the digital communication era, the same time level was integrated into one culture, with destroying the temporal·spatial boundary. As for the objectives of this study, first, the aim is to suggest a model for researching into make-up by grasping the developmental process and the characteristics of hybrid art through considering an art theory of hybrid, which was shown in make-up. Second, the aim is to design make-up by analyzing trend by make-up style after applying the genre deconstruction in hybrid. The modern make-up design through genre-deconstruction characteristics beyond diverse plurality and genre could be known to be highlighted as aesthetic characteristic by a slight attempt as communication of open space, which connects culture and genre, which had failed to be recognized and was neglected. Through the results of this study, it could be known that there is infinite possibility in developing make-up design in line with modern sensation through aesthetic element and symbolic significance through genre deconstruction. Based on these findings, its significance can be said to be in substantially contributing to offering new sight to the design & formative characteristic and the expression mode in future make-up, to providing basic data, and to strengthening competitive edge of culture and art.

  • In correlation to the rapid growth of Korea's economy and increased international exchange, hotel architecture in Korea has likewise evolutionized in its own distinctive style. Since hotels accomodate foreign visitors, they should be representative of the local architecture in which they reside, to add to the experience of the regions culture. City hotels provide not only primary housing functions but also many different varieties of services. Furthermore, city hotels operate as a focal point for their local communities. Seoul announced special measures for the expansion of accommodations for foreign tourists, and a large number of hotel construction entities have consequently propagated. Unfortunately, the designs for most of these new hotels have failed to reflect their local cultural characteristics, with most having similar designs and programs. As Korea enters an era seeing ten million foreign tourists annually, progressive reform is especially necessary. Space marketing, which is based on strategies of cultural experience, is a crucial element to city boutique hotel planning. It must be applied to satisfy both the cultural needs of its local communities and well as to vitalize the local economy through development of cultural tourism. To date, there have been numerous studies on boutique hotels and space marketing. However, most of these studies are limited to interior designs and artistic trends rather than focusing on the unique architectural and public aspects of their respective cities. In this thesis, the overall aim and strategies of space marketing for the city boutique hotel are analyzed, and the elements of strategies are used for further case analysis. The purpose of this study is to find applicability of Korean boutique hotel development through the result of case studies. Also, this thesis aims to advocate space marketing for Korea's forthcoming boutique hotels, as a means to showcase its unique cultural assets as well as to advance its international appeal and competitiveness.

  • The series of ‘Dubonnet’poster is one of the masterpieces of Cassandre who was the leader of advertising poster in 1920's and 1930's. Orihinally it was a triptych, but it was developed as a serial work later through lettering and seasonal advertising posters. It was kept in circulation for more than two decades and issued in a variety of formats. In this thesis I tried to figure out the artistic character and uniqueness of Cassandre's poster by analyzing it with many different points of view of the poster, the stream of changing style and influence from the Avant-garde painting. In chapterII, objectively analyzing the series of‘Dubonnet’one by one, I examined the method that Cassandre used to deliver the concept of advertising and his message. The triptych, the first one of series of Dubonnet poster is witty, the slogan is a pun using the words dubo(doubt), bon(good), and Dubonnet, and the theme is treated as an animated sequence in the manner of a comic strip. In the following winter and summer seasonal advertising posters, the‘Dubonnet man’in the same position is enjoying the‘Dubonnet’, irrespective of the hazards of climate and season, There was a change towards 1929 that rectilinear design gave place to supple and undulating lines in Cassandre's posters. Seasonal advertising posters also showed the change, and the tendency of realistic and concrete elements of an expression was strengthened. In chapterIII, I studied three as main characters of Cassandre's poster. The first one is simple and geometric expression, second one is uniqueness of figures and the last one is important roll of lettering. Cassandre believed that there were fundamental differences between the function of a poster and that of a painting. He also recognized that the symbol was the essential element in the poster design, which would be simply and swiftly recognized. The recognition led him to simple design and bold geometric abstraction. He was a man who knew the value of copy in advertising and developed it fully in his simplified geometric compositions by integrating of letterforms and image. The‘Dubonnet man’is geometrized, almost featureless. This approach of rendering human beings was one that Cassandre had used from the early years, most notably in his posters for Dubonnet.

  • A 'Readymade' is an everyday object selected and designated as art. The term was coined by Marcel Duchamp to describe his artistic process based on the attempt to destroy the notion of the uniqueness of the art object: his influence went for beyond the art world affecting all design activities based on creativity. The purpose of this study is to investigate the ready-made technique from an educational point of view. Starting from Duchamp experience and his further influence on the design world, the study aims to demonstrate the value of the ready-made technique as a basic element in the education of young designers. The research method is based on the empirical observation of the results of the same project assigned to forty different students in different universities. The collected results were grouped in four families according to each specific generative method: constructive, conceptual, aggregative and elaborative. These four categories, derived by the observation of the results, represent tangible variations of the same disciplined technique. This flexibility demonstrates the value of the ready-made process as a foundation practice particularly indicated for young designers. These are the main skills students developed through its application to design projects; exploring and reconsidering attitude, recycling issues, new identity to familiar objects, focus on ideas.

  • In this study, the theoretical principle and structural practice of Estill Voice Training model that enables independent control of voice organs in the actor's acting art using voice as a medium of artistic expression. Its purpose is to explore the positive utility that can be applied to operation. The research on the speech science methodology that controls the differences in speech output due to the principle of the generation organ is a reality that has not been actively introduced in Korea compared to the existing actor's speech training that encompasses both the mind and the body. Voice can guarantee the accuracy and stability of operation when an understanding of our body is preceded based on anatomical physiology as well as contribute to the characterization of the character's phonetic character an element of character creation. Considering the training model through proprioception in actor voice training has practical value and alternative significance that the actor can be sought as a principle and practical methodology in the process of generating a series of target sounds.

  • I began to produce a series of works based upon the plastic element as a visual transmission -such as points, lines, sides, volumes and cubics, movements with in time, and space- which appeared in the optical art, that emerged in the 1950s and the early 1960. My works, which portray the natural scenes such as mountains, trees, and flowers that are commonly seen around us, are completed by drawing, erasing, filling with many points and overlapping. My works also ignore the scenography. All artistic activities must be based upon humanistic values and ultimately need to work for human being. The work with application of opt art did not use the perspective, but diverse colors. The work with application of opt art did not use the perspective, but diverse colors. The work tried to express more diverse impression rather than the emotion from the familiar perspective. We hope, therefore, my works give pleasure and satisfaction to these who come to see them.

  • The purpose of this study is to ascertain pattern design element in traditional palaces among those in the neighboring three nations of East Asia, notably Korea, China and Japan. The basic assumption underlying this study is that these northeastern Asian states have been developed a unique inter-cultural ties over long periods of time in history, culminating in their respective design cultures. Undoubtly the ultimate goal to be pursued, by so doing, has to be inquiry into the identical prototype of Korean pattern design element. In the West, the pattern is appreciated by an aesthetic level, but the East Asian pattern is a symbolic alphabet deeply rooted in religious and folk beliefs. The difference of the respective country comes from the expression style of the pattern the Chinese express the magnificent pattern with various color, the Korean do the moderate pattern with harmonious color with the nature and the Japanese do the stylized pattern with the material color. To sum up similarities and dissimilarities among the design element in traditional palaces of Korea, China, and Japan is as the following : It is to be noticed that the mainly common characteristics of the artistic design are 'naturalism', 'harmonious ideas 'and 'confucianism'. But the representation style of the design element is differed from the country.

  • In the present age dominate by both cer-taingty of 1% and uncertainty of 99% 'Fuzzy thinking' of Bart Kosko that is the way to solve the problems by the scientific way through a worldview of Buddhism or Taoism greatly prevails around the world over 'Lateral greatly prevails around the world over 'Lateral thinking' and the authenticity or the right and-wrong of the uncertainty which is the thinking way to find the answer of the problems of illogical way of Edward de Beno against the western vertical thinking were Concurrently fashion designers over the world also adopt the oriental elements. But there exist differences of thoughts between the orient and the occident. And they have dif-ferent thinking way of aestheticism and references of the value on the beauty. Not only beauty but the view through the mind as intuitional thought in which not only the rec-ognition of sense but also the rationalism and the naturalness play key role. The aesthetic sense in the orient contains both the truth and virtue. 2) The beauty of the mean It's from the thought of neutralization of Confucius. The mean or moderation state which in harmony with ethical virtue and aes-thetic beauty is the ideal and is the ultimate. Therefore the thought of Confucian is the creativity in which the balance and the har-mony is most important. Fashion design is also one of the representation of the mean because the spirit of the designer is harmonized for-mlessly with the object of the model of the fashion design. 2) The beauty of skillfulness It indicates the Taoism of Lao-tzu and Chuangtzu. It takes a super-artistic declar-ation that human can feel and recognize the color of colorlessness the sound of sound-lessness and the taste of tastelessness. The thought of arts affected by Taoism is 'ad-vanced age' called the beauty of skillfulness. The view of arts of lao-tzu takes the beauty of cosmos and the nature as a standard. Es-pecially the beauty of inactivity is recognized by the linkage between the beauty and the ugliness. And these things appear in fashion design as a design element such as humor or exaggeration. 3) The beauty of non-dualism It is thought of Buddhism that all evil passions of worry occur form the opposition in dualism. Finally this thought leads to that everything is consistent and truth is only one from the point of view that virtue and vice has on linkage that is 'no virtues no vices' and 'one with two, two, with one, one is not two' A big tendency like this became the root forma-tion of the thought of the oriental arts. 3. Characteristics of the oriental aesthetic sense on the present fashion design 1) The formation of the fashion design on the oriental elements In the picture-incantation which was a representation of an era when the thought of 'cosmic dual forces' dominated the basic polygons of 'a circle square triangle' means both 'one two three' and 'the negative positive mean' of cosmic elements. From this point of view the was of planner cutting in the Orient is dif-ferent from that of the Occidental which is in three-dimensional. The planner polygon type of the cut-pieces comes to have the meaning of the three-dimension when they consist of a suit that has the combination of each cut-piece. This shows the consistency with the principle of cosmos creation of Taoism that one is two two is three and three is every-thing. 2) The coloring and the symbolic represen-tation of the fashion design on the orien-tal elements The sense on the colors in the Orient from the thought of 'the cosmic dual forces and the five elements' is not the experi-enced from the knowledge but contains the consideration of philosophy Five-primary-color representing compass directions Blue(East) Red(South) Yellow(Center) White (West) and Black (North) is called ' the posi-tive' for this five-primary-color secondary-color which comes from the compound of the primary colors is called 'the negative' The thought of 'the cosmic dual forces and the five elements' is also an theory containing the natural order of the cos-mos and this shows the perceptional differ-ence that they are not conceptual but to be recognized and fell directly. A thought of Buddhism which is 'Colors are colorlessness and Clolorlessness are color's proves that. 3) The pattern and symbolic representation of the fashion design on the oriental elements The pattern as a visual style is a figure of symbolic representation which adopt the mental and physical world of human and are the compo-sition of artistic revelation of the human nature and the religous thought of incantation. Es-pecially the symbolic representation of the oriental thought of Confusion. Buddhism and Taoism There are patterns such as plants aminals the oriental four gods and geometry. From the above it's the time toward the 21'th century when the world is constructing one global area and one historical zone. And the exotic mood of the Orient represented in the fashion which doesn't make the common feeling in general does not cease to develop only to express the visual modeling but also adopts the thought religion and the art which are the root of the Orientail and contains inherent willing of modeling.
