Feasibility Study for the cross border transmission project in Cambodia (캄보디아 국경연계 송전망 타당성 연구)

  • KEPCO is executing a project in Cambodia consisting of two components, "Power Development Master Plan and Institutional Strengthening" and "Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) Power Project Preparation" upon request by the government of the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy of Cambodia, contracted on $29^{th}$ September 2005. This paper includes a basic design and review of economical efficiency for constructing the two (2) cross border 115 kV transmission lines, which run from the border of Vietnam and Laos to Cambodia, and four (4) 115kV substations. The main contents of the paper include the process of design and results of a review of line route selection, tower and hardware design regarding transmission line design, as well as the type of substation, and arrangement and specifications of equipment with expects to substation design. Also, long-term demand forecasting, and an economic analysis of the project area are included.

Safety Evaluation of Evacuation in a Dormitory Girls' High School based on PAPS (PAPS에 기반한 여자고등학교 기숙사생의 피난 안전성 평가)

  • This study is for increasing evacuation safety by analyzing RSET(the required safe escape time) through the arrangement of personnel by floor and by room while evacuating in a Girls' High School Dormitory. For this study, PAPS(Physical Activity Promotion System) results that have not been studied so far were analyzed and reflected in evacuation simulations on the premise that individual student's physical strength can affect evacuation. Based on the PAPS results, four scenarios were applied. In addition, evacuation simulation using the pathfinder program was conducted in two situations: the evacuation route was assigned or not. Scenario 4 was the fastest at 168.5 seconds of RSET in assigning evacuation routes among scenarios. As a result of this study, the arrangement of students focusing on improving their academic ability and student life guidance excluding student physical strength has problem. In order to solve this problem, it is effective to place C group students(low grade on PAPS) on low floors and A group students(high grade on PAPS) on high floors and to assign evacuation routes in each room. In the future, the following ways need to be more studied. A study on how to increase evacuation safety through practical evacuation training, the way of assessing evacuation safety reflecting the lifestyle and physical strength of girls, the evacuation route assignment according to the fire occurrence point, and the method to secure evacuation routes in the event of a fire near stairs or entrances should be conducted.

A Study on the Drift Phenomenon of a Ship on the Waterway near the Breakwater of Busan and Gamcheon Port (부산항과 감천항 방파제 인접 항로에서 선체에 작용하는 횡압류 현상에 관한 연구)

  • In order to secure the traffic safety especially in the entrance waterway of harbour, it is important that the breakwater and the port facilities should be designed properly considering ship-handling difficulty and traffic flow. In this study, the lateral force acting on ship hull under the external force(wind, current, wave) is investigated quantitatively for the container ship approaching to the Busan and Gamcheon breakwater. The relation of ship-handling difficulty to the breakwater and the arrangement of ship's routine are examined based on the lateral force under the external force. Some of reviews to secure traffic safety on the design of breakwater are discussed.

A Study on Construction of Barge Transportaion System between Incheon and Gaesung (인천-개성 항로 바지 수송시스템 구축에 관한 기초적 연구)

  • Recently, the transport quantity of goods between South and North Korea is rising rapidly by increasing of economical exchange between South and North Korea and growth of Gaeseoung industrial complex. In addition to a land transportation route, it is necessary to secure various logistics and transportation route for freight transportation between Incheon and Gaesung. In this paper, we investigated a construction of barge transportaion system between Incheon and Gaesung. The barge transportation system which has many merits such as a little initial investment and convenience of harbor loading/ unloading has been also used to transport freight widely in the EU and USA. Firstly, we investigated barge transport route, marine freight and barge fleet which consists of barge and pusher between Incheon and Gaesung. And next, we designed hull form and general arrangement of a barge and pusher based on shipping service condition, barge fleet, etc. Finally, a construction plans of barge transport system such as a operation of shipping service, berthing facilities, logistics center, intermodal transport are investigated.

A Study on the Characteristics of Consumer Visual-Perceptional Information Acquisition in Commercial Facilities in Regard to its Construction of Space from Real-Time Eye Gaze Tracking (상업시설 공간구성의 실시간 시선추적에 나타난 소비자 시지각 정보획득 특성 연구)

  • For satisfying consumer needs, commercial facilities require a variety of sale-related space expressions and eye-catching product arrangements; space composition can also be a direct marketing strategy. The human eye is the sensory organ that acquires the largest amount of information, and an analysis of visual information helps in understanding visual relations between . However, the existing studies are mostly focused on analysis of still frames in experimental images, and there is a lack of studies analyzing gaze information based on mobile images of commercial spaces. Therefore, this study analyzed emotional responses through gaze information of space users in reality using a video of a movement route through a commercial facility. The analysis targeted straight sections of the moving route; based on the data acquired, sectional characteristics of five gaze intensity ranges were examined. As a result, section A, the starting point of the route, had a low gaze intensity, while section B had the highest gaze intensity. This indicates that, starting in section B, the subjects explored the space in a stable way and needed time to adapt to the experimental video. In relation to space characteristics of the gaze-concentrated area, display formats of the right stores in 4 of 6 sections received greater attention. The gaze of consumers was mostly focused on props, and big gaze information was revealed in showcase display formats of the stores. In conclusion, this analysis method can provide highly useful direct design data about merchandise display and merchandise component arrangement based on consumer visual preference.

How to Keep the Sustainability of the Landscape Resources of the East Coast in South Korea

  • The purpose of this study is to present the conditions and methods for keeping the sustainability of the landscape resources of the East Coast of Gangwon province, the Republic of Korea by investigating the landscape resources management in the area and pointing out its problems. The unit of analysis in this study is four cities and two counties located along the national road route seven in Gangwon province. The classification and characteristics of the landscape resources in this area was analyzed by a literature review, and we surveyed the tourists visiting the area and statistically analyzed the data in order to examine their satisfaction with the landscape resources management and make recommendations. The problems of the landscape resources management are: 1) the disturbance of the persistence of life by reclamation, the population reduction in the ecosystem due to the overload in environmental capacity, and the severance of space between land and water. 2) the reduction of the benefits from indirect experience by interfering with the conservation of fluxes --- the manipulation of horizontal arrangement of the landscape resource, the visual disturbance by the construction of high-storied buildings, and the disharmony between the color/image and the environment. The means for keeping sustainability of the landscape resources include the regulations of development and use, the change in the recognition of the value of landscape resources and the moral system, and the improvement of resource management skills.

  • A Liner Conference can be defined as "a group of two or more vessel operating carriers which provide international liner services for the carriage of cargo on a particular route or routes within specific geographical limits and which has an agreement or arrangement within the framework of which they operate under uniform or common freight rates and any other agreed conditions with respect to the provisions of the liner services". This study reviews maritime transport policy regarding liner conference and the changes in the liner market over the decades. Liner shipping industry has long been protected from competition by block exemption. The repeal of the block exemption for liner conferences and the abolition of any special EC antitrust regime for the shipping industry marks an important step in European maritime competition policy. This article examines the origins and the rationale of the EC antitrust immunity granted so far th the shipping industry and explains the causes of this historic changes. The abolition of Regulation 4056/86 and of the EU commitment to the UN Code of Conduct marks an historical evolution in international maritime policy, which will have an influence far beyond the EU.

Analysis of Sheath Circulating Current on Multi-underground Transmission Cables using EMTP (다회선 지중송전 케이블에서의 EMTP를 이용한 시스 순환전류 분석)

  • The use of underground transmission cables has continuously increased in densely inhabited urban and suburban area. Due to a increasing demand of underground cables, two or more circuits are installed in parallel for several kilometers. It, however, has not been realized that the sheath circulating current is generated in the system where a large number of cables are laid in the same route. In this paper, sheath circulating current is analyzed by the EMTP and compared with the measured values. Unbalance arrangement of cables or cross-bonding length causes a significant effect on the magnitude of the sheath current. Sheath circulating current could be greatly reduced by the symmetrical configuration of cables and installation of the impedance reduction system. Especially, with the impedance system of 1Ω installed, the sheath circulating current is reduced by 85.7%.

A Study on the Variation of the GDOP and Service Area in Accordance with Arrangement of Transmitting Station Loran C System (로오란 C 시스템에서 발신국의 배치에 따른 GDOP의 변화 및 유효범위에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, the authors calculate GDOP(Geometric Dilution of Precision) with the mast and slave transmitting stations at the past and present and simulation positions in the 9970 chain and 5970 chain of the loran C system, and analyzed variations of the GDOP and effective ranges in accordance with the shifting of transmitting stations. The results obtained are as follows; 1) The line 3.0 of equi-GDOP map that the Z slave station of 9970 chain is Guam island is falled on with line 2.0 of it's map that it is Yap island approximately, and units of GDOP of calculating with Guam island are increased then them with Yap island on the south parts of mast station. 2) If the control right of Z slave station of 9970 chain could be not transfered to japan and be closed on account of the territorial problems, the units of GDOP to calculate without it's station at any positions are very increased and the accuracy is down on the south parts of mast station. The line 5.0 of it's map is falled on with line 2.0 in case of Yap island, its Z station, and line 3.0 in case of Guam island with Z slave station approximately. 3) The X slave station of 9970 chain and 5970 chain are required rearrangement for the purpose of accurating position fix and expending service area in view of propagation route of wave and arrangement of transmitting station.

  • A submarine power cable is a transmission cable for carrying electric power below the surface of the water. Recently, submarine cables transfer power from offshore renewable energy schemes to shore, e.g. wind, wave and tidal systems, and these cables are either buried in the seabed or lie on the ocean floor, depending on their location. Since these power cables are used in the extreme environments, they are made to withstand in harsh conditions and temperatures, and strong currents. However, undersea conditions are severe enough to cause all sorts of damage to offshore cables, these conditions result in cable faults that disrupt power transmission. In this paper, we explore the design criteria for such cables and the procedures and challenges of installation, and cable transfer splicing system. The specification of submarine cable designed with 3 circuits of 154kV which is composed of the existing single circuit and new double circuits, and power capacity of 100MVA per cable line. The determination of new submarine cable burial depth and cable arrangement method with both existing and new cables are studied. We have calculated the permission values of cable power capacity for underground route, the values show the over 100MW per cable line.
