  • The research reported in this study focused on an analysis of argumentation in the inquiry discourse among pre-service science teachers. For about 3 months, 7 groups of 24 pre-service science teachers participated in an open-ended inquiry and performed 10 inquiry discourses. All discourses were collected by video-recording and transcribed. To analyze features of argumentation discourse, analytic tools derived from Toulmin's argument pattern and cognitive argumentation scheme were applied to discussion transcripts. The results were as follows: First, the order of frequency in the analysis of 'meaning unit' was 'claim-warrant-data-rebuttal-backing.' Second, the order of frequency in the analysis of 'dialogue unit' was 'CW-CD-CDW-CWR-CR'. Third, more rebuttals were found than other discussions. Fourth, the second argumentative discussion showed a higher level than the first.

  • The present paper describes a new technique for associating images employing a set of local constraints among pixels on an image. The technique describes the association problem in terms of consistent labeling which is an abstraction of various kinds of network constraints problems. In this particular research, a pixel and its gray value correspond to a unit and a label, respectively. Since constraints among units on an image are defined with respect to each n-tuple of pixels, performance of the present association technique largely depends on how to choose the n-tuples on an image plane. The main part of this paper is devoted to discussing this selection scheme and giving a solution to it as well as showing the algorithm of association. Also given are some results of the simulation performed on synthetic binary images to examine the performance of proposed technique, followed by the argument on further studies.

  • An approximation scheme utilizing Bezier curves is considered for solving time-delayed optimal control problems with terminal inequality constraints. First, the problem is transformed, using a $P{\acute{a}}de$ approximation, to one without a time-delayed argument. Terminal inequality constraints, if they exist, are converted to equality constraints. A computational method based on Bezier curves in the time domain is then proposed for solving the obtained non-delay optimal control problem. Numerical examples are introduced to verify the efficiency and accuracy of the proposed technique. The findings demonstrate that the proposed method is accurate and easy to implement.

  • Storybooks, especially those for children, may contain illustrations. An automated system for generating illustrations would help the production process of storybook publishing. In this paper, we propose a method for automatically generating layouts of objects during generating illustrations. In generated layouts, it is preferred to avoid unnecessary overlap between objects, corresponding to the spatial information in storybooks. We first define a representation scheme for spatial information in natural language sentences using tree structures and predicate-argument structures. Unification of tree structures and Region Connection Calculus are then used to manipulate the information and generate corresponding illustrations.

  • Bovine brucellosis has occurred for years in Gyeonggi province under the national test and slaughter scheme. The serum agglutination test (SAT) is a diagnostic tool to confirm the disease despite the argument on its specificity. We selected 8 farms where only one or two individuals were diagnosed as brucellosis through SAT at the primary regular herd check and isolated the causative organism and characterized the species by species-specific PCR. The pathogen isolation was successful in 6 farms out of 8 farms by microbiological culture, showing the successful rate of 75%. The isolation rate of the causative organism represents 70% from supra-mammary lymph node and 60% from uterine tissues. They were characterized as Brucella abortus biovar 1 after biotyping by PCR, showing the fragment of 498 bp. Five of 8 farms were diagnosed as brucellosis two to four times more over the intervals of two or three months. Here in this study we briefly showed the correlation of the sporadic outbreak of brucellosis tested by SAT and the isolation of the causative organism. Moreover one or two reactors against brucellosis among considerable size of herd may indicate that SAT failed to detect potentially infected individuals in the incubation stage or chronic phase of the disease.

  • In this research, the density value of the turbid solution is measured by using the principle of inexpensive but easy Hydrometer method for cement delivered to the actual raw concrete plant, By analyzing the correlation of powder aid, we will try to present a scheme that can be utilized as a method of acquisition acquisition inspection. As a result of the analysis, it was found that there was a large difference between the measured powders assisted with cement powder on the report, and the correlation with the actually measured powder aid Hydrometer density value was good. Therefore, using the method of Fig. 3, it was possible to know that the degree of powder quality of cement delivered to the raw concrete factory can be evaluated quickly and utilized at the time of argument inspection.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the development process and current status of income maintenance policies after the financial crisis, to sort out key issues or problems, and to explore future plans or directions that can overcome the limitation. In order to develop intensive argument, the scope of research is limited to the National Pension, Basic Pension, and the National Basic Livelihood Security System. The research also focused on two values of the 'universalism' and the 'adequacy' based on the 'SPF(social protection floor)' in the overall narrative process. Additionally, this paper briefly summarized the related contents released by the Moon Jae-in Government and presented an affirmative strategy and a transformational strategy centered on social allowance and basic income respectively, to establish an integrated income guarantee scheme. Although some improvements to the present system are also required, it is an effort to expand the practical effect of social benefits through the full and comprehensive reform of benefit structure and method.

  • The argument related to the use of real and anonymous names on the Internet bulletin board has recently become a main issue. When using real names, it is possible to violate free discussion and privacy. Also, when using anonymous names, it is possible to have the reverse function of the Internet in regard to the use of malicious replies or the distribution of false ideas. Therefore, this paper has made it possible to prevent the spread of the user's personal information and execute the single log-in process by using the XML-token method which is one of the SSO technologies. Also, by issuing virtual IDs and forming the path when establishing tokens, the anonymous bulletin board which provides anonymity with a conditional tracing process has been suggested. After analyzing the performance of visitor numbers at authentication time, the anonymous bulletin board based on the group signature method showed the average response rate of 0.72 seconds, 0.18 seconds, which was suggested scheme. In the authentication time 4-5 times faster response speed, respectively. Also, since the suggested system does not have to provide a single authentication process or make the user provide his or her signature, the level of user's convenience seems to be much higher. Such a result shows that the system suggested on the anonymous bulletin board has a more appropriate level of user's convenience.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore how the flow of discourse move and their reasoning process in dialogic argumentation during group modeling on excretion. Five groups of three to four students in the second grade of a middle school participated in the modeling practice of a Gifted Center. Analysis was conducted on argumentation during the modeling activity in which students should explain how the waste product (ammonia) leaves the body. It was found that there was a sequential argumentative process-tentative consensus, solving the uncertainty, and consensus. There were several discourse moves - 'claim' and 'counterclaim' in the stage of tentative consensus, 'query' and 'clarification of meaning' in the stage of solving the uncertainty, and 'change of claim' in the stage of consensus. Students participated in the dialogic argumentation by constructing argument collaboratively for reaching a consensus. Critical questioning in the stage of solving the uncertainty and reasoning in the stage of consensus were the impact factors of dialogic argumentation. By answering the critical questions, students changed their claims or suggested new claims by defending or rebutting previous claims. Students justified group claims with diverse argumentation scheme and scientific reasoning to reach a group consensus. These findings have implication for science educators who want to adopt dialogic argumentation in science classes.

  • Argumentation is a social and collaborative dialogic process. A large number of researchers have focused on analyzing the structure of students' argumentation occurring in the scientific inquiry context, using the Toulmin's model of argument. Since SSI dialogic argumentation often presents distinctive features (e.g. interdisciplinary, controversial, value-laden, etc.), Toulmin's model would not fit into the context. Therefore, we attempted to develop an analytical framework for SSI dialogic argumentation by addressing the concepts of 'discourse clusters' and 'discourse schemes.' Discourse clusters indicated a series of utterances created for a similar dialogical purpose in the SSI contexts. Discourse schemes denoted meaningful discourse units that well represented the features of SSI reasoning. In this study, we presented six types of discourse clusters and 19 discourse schemes. We applied the framework to the data of students' group discourse on SSIs (e.g. euthanasia, nuclear energy, etc.) in order to verify its validity and applicability. The results indicate that the framework well explained the overall flow, dynamics, and features of students' discourse on SSI.
