  • The result of the previous work leads to the idea that the inner area of the hyperbolic shell generator should be minimized for the cooling tower with higher first natural frequency. In this study the inner area of the hyperbolic shell generator was graphically established under varying height of the throat and angle of the base lintel. From the graph, several shell geometries were selected and analysed in the aspect of the natural frequency. Three representative towers reinforced differently due to different first natural frequencies were analysed non-linearly and evaluated using a damage indicator based on the change of natural frequencies. The results demonstrated that the damage behaviour of the tower reinforced higher due to a lower first natural frequency was not necessarily advantageous than the others.

  • When the capacity and traffic operation at signalized intersections are analyzed in Korea, the unprotected left-turn saturation flow rate, which is an important parameter for the analysis, is estimated form the USHCM model. thus, exact analysis of the left-turn is not possible because of the difference of traffic environments between two contries. In order to improve this problem, it is undertaken in this study to develop techniques for the estimation of unprotected left-turn saturation flows based on Korean drivers' data. As study intersections, signalized or unsignalized intersections on the 6, 4 and 2 lane streets are selected. the data for the saturation flow measurement and gap-acceptance behavior analysis are inputed in a notebook computer on the sites. The critical acceptance gaps of the 6, 4, and 2 lane streets are analyzed to be 6.0 secs, 4.6 secs, and 4.3 secs respectively. the average minimum headway of the left-turn vehicle was observed to be 2.6 secs. As the model to estimate unportected left-turn saturation flows, the drew model is recommended for 6 and 4 lane streets, and a graph is suggested for the 2-lane street. As the values of the parameters of the Drew model, the 2.6 secs of this study is recommended for the average minimum headway of the left-turn. But, the critical acceptance gap varies according to the approach speed of opposing traffic and driver population, it requires field survey to measure the gap of an intersection; however, the values of the gaps studied in this study may be used for the general intersections in urban area in Korean.

  • In this study, we analyzed the $CH_4$and $C_4$$H_{10}$ sensitivity measurement and voltage variation using catalytic type gas sensor characteristics in catalytic combustion type gas detecter sensors. Gas detector shall operate as intended when exposed for 24 hours to air having a relative humidity of 65 percent at a temperature of $20^{\circ}c$ and humidity of 85 percent at a temperature of $40^{\circ}c$. The gas detecter sensors are to be subjected to operation for 210 days in an area that has been determined to be equivalent to a typical residential atmosphere with an air velocity of 50 cm/sec. The source of energy for a gas detector sensors employing a supplementary basic circuit is energized from a seperate source of supply direct applied voltage 2.1V, 2.2V, 2.3V. As a result, it was confirmed that the relative humidity and temperature by regression each analysis, compared to the isobutane characteristic graph and methane characteristic graph by a relative humidity of 65% and 85% at a temperature($20^{\circ}c$, $40^{\circ}c$) show a similar linear pattern on the whore.

  • The spread and expansion of pests and pathogens due to climate change have caused considerable reduction of rice yield in agricultural landscapes. This study was conducted to quantitatively analyze the spread of rice pathogens carried by insect pests on spatial network in South Korea using graph-theoretic methods. We identified the connectivity "backbone" of pathogen spread network among the cities along the coastal area of West Sea. In addition, we graphically represented 1) the core areas that can cause local and regional outbreaks of pathogens; and 2) the areas that act as bottlenecks in the spread of pathogen which can link the core areas. Especially, the cities in the coastal areas of West Sea that have the high density of rice crops, represented a low spread resistance to pathogen infection. These results may suggest insights into planning the integrated pest management possibly through regional collaboration.

  • This study aims at providing useful information to establish subdivided marketing direction by deriving factors of significant extent and practicable extent of buffet users toward menu quality among super deluxe hotels in Gyeongju, and furthermore aims at presenting implications for efficient management result and sales increase of buffet in the future. The result of positive analysis is as follows. Firstly, in result of analyzing difference between importance and performance of hotel buffet in Gyungju area, importance is much higher than performance. Secondly, respondents consider that the most important menu of hotel buffet is main dish such as hot food and instant food rather than menu such as beverage, soup and salad. When it comes to attribute of menu quality, it appeared that respondents put highly significant extent on sanitariness of food, freshness of food, flavor of food, and seasonality and variety of menu. Thirdly, oriental instant food is included in the second quadrant of IPA regarding buffet menu which should be intensively managed. And three attributes such as temperature of food, time of changing food, and creativity of menu are included in the second quadrant of IPA graph by attribute of hotel buffet's menu quality. Lastly, in IPA graph by hotel, the following menus of each hotel need to be intensively managed: Oriental instant food of A hotel, Western cold food of B hotel, Oriental instant food, Western instant food, and Oriental dessert of C hotel, and Western porridge soup, Oriental instant food, and Western instant food of E hotel. The aforementioned menus should be improved.

  • This study proposed an unsupervised image classification through the dendrogram of agglomerative clustering as a higher stage of image segmentation in image processing. The proposed algorithm is a hierarchical clustering which includes searching a set of MCSNP (Mutual Closest Spectral Neighbor Pairs) based on the data structures of RAG(Regional Adjacency Graph) defined on spectral space and Min-Heap. It also employes a multi-window system in spectral space to define the spectral adjacency. RAG is updated for the change due to merging using RNV (Regional Neighbor Vector). The proposed algorithm provides a dendrogram which is a graphical representation of data. The hierarchical relationship in clustering can be easily interpreted in the dendrogram. In this study, the proposed algorithm has been extensively evaluated using simulated images and applied to very large QuickBird imagery acquired over an area of Korean Peninsula. The results have shown it potentiality for the application of remotely-sensed imagery.

  • Multispectral image data of high spatial resolution is required to obtain correct information on the ground surface. The multispectral image data has lower resolution compared to panchromatic data. PAN-sharpening fusion technique produces the multispectral data with higher resolution of panchromatic image. Recently the object-based approach is more applied to the high spatial resolution data than the conventional pixel-based one. For the object-based image analysis, it is necessary to perform image segmentation that produces the objects of pixel group. Image segmentation can be effectively achieved by the process merging step-by-step two neighboring regions in RAG (Regional Adjacency Graph). In the satellite remote sensing, the operational environment of the satellite sensor causes image degradation during the image acquisition. This degradation increases variation of pixel values in same area, and results in deteriorating the accuracy of image segmentation. An iterative approach that reduces the difference of pixel values in two neighboring pixels of same area is employed to alleviate variation of pixel values in same area. The size of segmented regions is associated with the quality of image segmentation and is decided by a stopping rue in the merging process. In this study, the image restoration and segmentation was quantitatively evaluated using simulation data and was also applied to the three PAN-sharpened multispectral images of high resolution: Dubaisat-2 data of 1m panchromatic resolution from LA, USA and KOMPSAT3 data of 0.7m panchromatic resolution from Daejeon and Chungcheongnam-do in the Korean peninsula. The experimental results imply that the proposed method can improve analytical accuracy in the application of remote sensing high resolution PAN-sharpened multispectral imagery.

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to objectively detect simulated tooth ankylosis using a novel method involving cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Materials and Methods: Tooth ankylosis was simulated in single-rooted human permanent teeth, and CBCT scans were acquired at different current levels (5, 6.3, and 8 mA) and voxel sizes (0.08, 0.125, and 0.2). In axial reconstructions, a line of interest was perpendicularly placed over the periodontal ligament space of 21 ankylosed and 21 non-ankylosed regions, and the CBCT grey values of all voxels along the line of interest were plotted against their corresponding X-coordinates through a line graph to generate a profile. The image contrast was increased by 30% and 60% and the profile assessment was repeated. The internal area of the resulting parabolas was obtained from all images and compared between ankylosed and non-ankylosed regions under different contrast enhancement conditions, voxel sizes, and mA levels using multi-way analysis of variance with the Tukey post hoc test(α=0.05). Results: The internal area of the parabolas of all non-ankylosed regions was significantly higher than that of the ankylosed regions(P<0.05). Contrast enhancement led to a significantly greater internal area of the parabolas of non-ankylosed regions (P<0.05). Overall, voxel size and mA did not significantly influence the internal area of the parabolas(P>0.05). Conclusion: The proposed novel method revealed a relevant degree of applicability in the detection of simulated tooth ankylosis; increased image contrast led to greater detectability.
