  • This paper proposes a new backoff scheme to improve the throughput of stations over wireless local area networks. It is designed to carry out the proposed backoff scheme using information of basic service area, such as number of stations, in terms of the throughput. Basic idea of the proposed backoff scheme is that we change the contention window size for backoff time as collisions increase. We evaluate the performance of the proposed backoff scheme using Markov model analysis and compare it with the IEEE 802.11e backoff scheme. The numerical results indicate that the Proposed backoff scheme may offer better performance than the conventional backoff scheme in terms of the throughput.

  • The wireless carrier sense multiple access with collision detection (WCSMA/CD) and carrier sense multiple access with collision resolution (CSMA/CR) protocols are considered representative distributed collision detection protocols for fully connected dense wireless local area networks. These protocols identify collisions through additional short-sensing within a collision detection (CD) period after the start of data transmission. In this study, we analyze their throughput numerically and show that the throughput has a trade-off that accords with the length of the CD period. Consequently, we obtain the optimal length of the CD period that maximizes the throughput as a closed-form solution. Analysis and simulation results show that the throughput of distributed collision detection protocols is considerably improved when the optimal CD period is allocated according to the number of stations and the length of the transmitted packet.

  • The analytic methodology of a merging area in KHCM(2004) supposes that congestion nay occur when traffic demand is more than capacity However, in many cases, congestion on merging area occurs when summation of traffic demand of main line and ramp is less than capacity, and in present methodology analysis of how main line and ramp flow effect on congestion occurrence is difficult. In this study, the model that is able to estimate traffic flow condition on merging area in accordance with the combination of main line and ramp demand flow is developed. Main characteristic of the model is estimation of maximum possible throughput rate and maximum throughput rate according to the combination of main line and ramp demand flow. Through the estimation of maximum possible throughput rate and maximum throughput rate. it was Possible to predict whether congestion would occur or not and how much maximum throughput rate and congestion would be on merging area. On one hand, in present LOS evaluation methodology on merging area, congestion state is determined as un-congested flow if demand flow is less than capacity. Therefore, to establish more reasonable In evaluation method, new criterion of LOS evaluation on merging area was searched based on the model of this study.

  • The proposed LDS(Link-status Dependent Scheduling) algorithm in HR-WPAN(High Rate-Wireless Personal Area Network) up to now aims at doing only throughput elevation of the whole network, when the crucial device is connected with worst-link relatively, throughput of this device becomes aggravation. The proposed the WGS(Worst-case Guaranteed Scheduling) algorithm in this paper guarantees throughput of the device which is connected with worst-link in a certain degree as maintaining throughput of all devices identically even if a link-status changes, decreases delay of the whole network more than current LDS algorithm. Therefore proposed WGS algorithm in this paper will be useful in case of guaranteeing throughput of a device which is connected worst-link in a certain degree in a design of HR-WPAN hereafter.

  • As the high-throughput requirement in the next generation communication system increases, it becomes essential to implement high-throughput SISO (Soft-Input Soft-Output) decoder with minimal hardware resources. In this paper, we present the comparison results between cascaded radix-4 ACS (Add-Compare-Select) and LUT (Look-Up Table)-based radix-4 ACS in terms of delay, area, and power consumption. The hardware overhead incurred from the retiming technique used for high speed radix-4 ACS operation is also analyzed. According to the various analysis results, high-throughput radix-4 SISO decoding architecture based on simple path metric recovery circuit is proposed to minimize the hardware resources. The proposed architecture is implemented in 65 nm CMOS process and memory requirement and power consumption can be reduced up to 78% and 32%, respectively, while achieving high-throughput requirement.

  • Numerous lead compounds, based on multipurpose privileged structures, can be generated that address a variety of targets from a gene family of interest, irrespective of therapeutic area. Solid-phase organic synthesis has been emerged as a powerful technique in generating combinatorial libraries of small organic molecules useful for drug discovery. Heterocyclic compounds provide scaffolds on which pharmacophores can be arranged to yield potent and selective drugs and a variety of heterocycles have been synthesized on solid support. (omitted)

  • A Multilayered microelectrode design is presented for large area travelling wave dielectrophoresis (TwDEP) separators. Most of typical TwDEP chip has been arrayed with 1000 electrodes in $20{\times}20\;mm^2$. However, there is a limitation of the device area that is critical in throughput, because when the area of TwDEP becomes larger, the resistance of microelectrodes for bus bar is also increased. In this paper, we successfully developed a novel TwDEP chip with extremely large area ($31{\times}25\;mm^2$) by a unique multilayered bus bar design. According to the resistance simulation of our microelectrodes, it is possible to realize a TwDEP chip with an infinite longitudinal length. We demonstrated the feasibility of our suggestion with latex microbeads and showed the potential of extremely high throughput separation with TwDEP technique.

  • This paper presents two types of high-speed hardware architectures for the block cipher ARIA. First, the loop architectures for feedback modes are presented. Area-throughput trade-offs are evaluated depending on the S-box implementation by using look-up tables or combinational logic which involves composite field arithmetic. The sub-pipelined architectures for non-feedback modes are also described. With loop unrolling, inner and outer round pipelining techniques, and S-box implementation using composite field arithmetic over $GF(2^4)^2$, throughputs of 16 Gbps to 43 Gbps are achievable in a 0.25 ${\mu}m$ CMOS technology. This is the first sub-pipelined architecture of ARIA for high throughput to date.

  • The Media Access Control(MAC) Technologies in IEEE 802 Local Area Network(LAN) reference model include CSMA/CD, Token Ring and Token Bus methodes. The channel throughput of LAN can be affected by some parameters such as channel length, transmission rate and packet size, and station numbers. In this paper, the effect of these parameters to channel throughput are analyzed by normalized parameters. And the token ring and token bus method are analyzed by using the normalized parameter, and relatinonship bwtween channel thorughput and parameters is discussed. Finally, results are compared.

  • Average throughput estimation of EV-DO forward link is implemented on the basis of the serving coverage area per sector instead of time consuming and complicated Monte Carlo simulation. For the implementation of this analysis function in cell planning tool, $CellTREK^{(R)}$, developed by KT, both SNR vs. DRC mapping table and receiver sensitivity are suggested as the satisfying criteria to be satisfied above each threshold level simultaneously.
