  • This paper is to explain reasonable shear behavior that can apply usually to reinforced concrete beams on the basic concepts of existent analysis and experimental research information. This study is succession $paper^{2) 3) 4) 5)}$ of treatise announced in existing and main control variable of reinforced concrete beams with stirrups used internal force state factor($\alpha$). Shear failure of reinforced concrete beams with stirrups is Influenced greatly because of the actual geometrical shape(a/d) of the concrete and flexural reinforcement steel ratio, stirrup reinforcement ratio and concrete compression strength, size effect etc. Therefore, shear behavior of reinforced concrete beams with stirrups that flexural crack is happened can be explained easily through proper extent proposal of internal force state factor($\alpha$) that express internal force state flowing. Use existent variable truss model by analysis model to explain arch action. Also, wish to compose each failure factors and correlation with internal force state factor by function, and when diagonal cracks happens, internal force state factor($\alpha$) study whether shear stress and some effect are.

  • An open-spandrel arch bridges, which consists of slab deck, arch rib, and vertical members, shows a various level of moment and axial forces according to the supporting boundary condition of arch rib and vehicle speeds. Also, the definition of impact factor accepts any kind of response parameters, not only displacement response at slab deck. The present study considers concrete open-spandrel arch bridges constrained with fixed conditions at the ends of arch rib and investigates the impact factor variation due to moving load speeds, response parameters, measuring locations, and vertical member spacing ratio of the bridges. The results of Reference model show that the impact factor is biggest when the reactive moment resulted at the vehicle-inducing opposite end of the arch rib is applied. The peak impact factor is a similar level obtained for the middle of the span adjacent to the slab deck center, but it is 19% higher than the peak impact factor calculated using the axial force developed at the same location. Reducing the spacing ratio of the vertical members as half as the reference model whose ratio is 1/9.375 produces a similar level of the moment-based peak impact factor compared to the reference model. However, when the spacing ratio is doubled, the peak impact factor is 4.4 times greater than the reference model.

  • A shear experiment of one-way monotonic loading was carried out with the shear span ratio as the main experimental variable for reinforced concrete beam. Using the finite element analysis as the experimental analysis tool and the analysis method to compute the shear resistance of small shear span ratio, a new macro-model composed of crooked main strut and sub strut is proposed in consideration of the effect of bond action between re-bar and concrete based on the experimental result. The experimental finding affirmed the validity of the proposed macro-model when the shear span ratio was at or below 0.75 and confirmed that the experimental result was the most consistent with the computed analysis result when the effective factor of concrete compressive strength was set at 0.75.

  • The current encased-concrete deep corrugated steel plate has an arch type plate structure, which is a compressive strength-dominant structure that has a small moment due to its arch shape. Therefore, it increases the strength against compression by adding reinforcements to make concrete-filling spaces for increasing the compressive strength and forming cross sections that contain reinforced concrete. In this study, the safety factor of the new-concept encased-concrete bridge plate member was evaluated by comparing the compressive strength obtained from the compressive tests, flexural tests and the design compressive strength determined by using the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CHBDC, 2003), which is a design standard for the encased-concrete bridge plate structures. The results of the safety factor evaluation using the design compressive strength and the test results showed that the safety factor was well above the appropriate value 2.0, which could be adjudged very conservative. If the safety factor based on this study results is considered and applied to the design, economical construction will be possible due to the reduced cross section and construction cost.

  • The behavior of the 3 hinged precast arch structure was investigated by comparing field measurements with numerical analyses performed for precast lining arch structures, which are widely used for the open-cut tunnel. According to the field measurements, the maximum vertical displacement occurred at the crown with upward displacements during the backfilling up to the crown of the arch and downward displacements at the backfill height above the crown. The final crown displacement was 19 mm upward from the original position. The horizontal displacement at the sidewall, which had a maximum horizontal displacement, occurred inward of the arch when compacting the backfill up to the crown and returned to the original position after completing the backfill construction. According to the analysis of displacement measurements, economical design is expected to be possible for precast arch structures compared to rigid concrete structures due to ground-structure interactions. Duncan model gave good results for the estimation of displacements and deformed shape of the tunnel according to the numerical analyses comparing with field measurements. The earth pressure coefficients calculated from the numerical analyses were 0.4 and 0.7 for the left and the right side of the tunnel respectively, which are agreed well with the eccentric load acting on the tunnel due to topographical condition and actual field measurements.

  • This paper as Part II of the present study deals with the verification of the new truss model that has been conceptually derived and formulated in Part I. Since the model includes the arch coefficient-$\alpha$, the characteristics of this coefficient are examined, and it appears that the coefficient-$\alpha$ is a function of a/d, $\rho$ and $\rho_v$ After transforming the model Into a sectional approach, the formula for predicting the stirrup stress, the longitudinal steel force, and ultimate shear strength are derived. Then, the equations are applied to the test specimens available in literatures, and the predicted values are shown to be in excellent agreement with the experimental results.

  • In simply supported concrete beams with concentrated load, there is arch action that the internal lever arm length varies through shear span. Recently shear analysis model considering this effect has been developed, but the analysis algorithm is so complicated. Moreover, the variation of internal lever arm length is not considered on the shear compatibility condition. In this study, the shear analysis model is developed more simply and the variation of internal lever arm length is considered on the shear compatibility condition. From these modifications, an actual shear behavior of RC beams subjected to concentrated load could be expected from the results of the proposed analysis model.

  • In this study, an estimation equation was proposed to predict the shear strength of RC interior beam-column connections. The proposed equation considered the effect of both truss and arch mechanisms, while the existing equations in the ACI and AIJ design codes consider only arch mechanism. In addition, the proposed equation estimates the shear strength of RC joints by considering the contribution of the vertical and horizontal steel bars on the effective compressive strength of concrete. The shear strength of RC joints calculated by the proposed equation was compared with the test results of 54 RC joints, which failed in shear before plastic hinges developed at the end of the adjacent beams. The comparison study showed that the proposed equation estimated the strength of the 54 specimens with a mean value of 1.14 and the coefficient of variation of 20%. The proposed equation provides improved prediction compared to those obtained from the equations in the ACI and AIJ design codes.

  • Recently there has been increased interest for the portal and shallow tunnel for an eco-friendly tunneling method. Semi cut & cover tunnel excavation techniques applied to concrete slab and construction and a growing number of cases, but there is no load combinations and arch concrete cross section for the applicable standards. Therefore, in this study, ground conditions and tunnel overburden thickness, thickness of backfill, overburden surface slope angle changes to a variety of conditions in order to propose standards for the semi cut & cover method was performed numerical analysis. Regression analysis method to the analysis of the results of numerical analysis, and linear regression equations derived to classify and organize a rational, economical, and safe semi cut & cover tunneling method based proposed.

  • The CFT structure is applied to newly developed CFTA girder because of improvement of ductility deformation, stiffness and internal force of structure owing to the interaction between steel tube and core concrete. CFTA girder is the structure which can reduce tensile stress due to external loads by using its arch shape and prestress force. This paper proposed constructional stage procedure and represented analytical technique considering constructional stage to investigate the safety against bridge collapse on construction and on operation.
