  • In this study, a farm map utilization strategy for sustainable agricultural environmental resource management was derived. In addition, it is intended to present an efficient method of providing farm map-related services. As a result of the demand survey, the additional information required for the farm map includes 29% of information on crops grown on farmland, 21% of management-related information such as the owner or business entity, 17% of topographical information including slope, 15% of agricultural water information, 17% of land status information, and the addition of functions. 2% was investigated. As a result of intensive interview survey, it was found that it can be used for information on crops cultivated by agricultural businesses, actual cultivated area by township, arable land consolidation division boundary, and management of agricultural promotion zones. The farm map can be used as basic data to efficiently manage agricultural environmental resources. Since the status of support for individual farms or lots, such as soil improvement agent support and organic fertilizer support, may belong to personal information, it can be processed and provided in units required by administration or policies, such as administrative boundaries, subwatersheds, and watersheds. It can serve as a basis for executing the direct payment currently supported only by individual farms, even in a community unit that manages environmental direct payments.

  • Chenges in respiration of the soils collected from the reclaimed tidal soil in Chogi-ri, Kanghwa Island and treated with organic matters are presented. The measurement of the respiration for the smaples, which were incubated for 0,2,4 and 5 weeks, were carried out by using Warburg's respirometer. While the respirations of the samples added by organic matters were increased 6.7 - 28.0 times compared with that 0 week during the incubation in case of 5-year soil, the respiration in case of 3-year soil were increased 3.3-11.8 times. Thus, the effect of adding organic matters on the respiration of the experimented soils, as this indicates, was much higher for the soil of 5-year area than that of 30-year area. And for the organic matters Salicornia was most effective and then Suaeda and Oryzae. The samples treated with Salicornia and Suaeda showed their highest respiration rate at the 4th week, but the one with Oryzae was measured to increase progressively during 5 weeks experimented. Regarding the salinity, content of organic matters and number of bacteria, in each intact soil experimented, 5-year soil samples had much poor habitat then 30-year soil for the activity of soil microorganisms, but according to the result mentioned above, it is firmly believed that the addition of organic matters on the saline soil is one of the best means to change the reclaimed tidal land into arable land with less time duration.

  • World Agriculture faces daunting challenges in feeding the growing population today. Reduction in arable land extent due to numerous reasons threatens achievement of food and nutritional security. Under this back ground, agricultural use of acidic soils, which account for approximately 40 % of the world arable lands is of utmost important. However, due to aluminum (Al) toxicity and low available phosphorous (P) content, crop production in acidic soils is restricted. Citrus, in this context, gains worldwide recognition as a crop adapted to harsh environments. The present paper reviewed Al toxicity and possible toxicity alleviation tactics in citrus. As reported for many other crops, inhibition of root elongation, photosynthesis and growth is experienced in citrus also due to Al toxicity. Focusing at toxicity alleviation, interaction between boron (B) and Al as well as phosphorus and Al has been discussed intensively. Al toxicity in citrus could be alleviated by P through increasing immobilization of Al in roots and P level in shoots rather than through increasing organic acid secretion, which has been widely reported in other crops. Boron-induced changes in Al speciation and/or sub-cellular compartmentation has also been suggested in amelioration of root inhibition in citrus. Despite the species-dependent manner of response to Al toxicity, many commercially important citrus species can be grown successfully in acidic soils, provided toxicity alleviation Agro-biological tactics such as addition of phosphorous fertilizers are used properly.

  • In recent years, the proportion of arable land in the nation has grown from 36.2 percent in 1990 to 43.7 percent in 2013. The study first performed the vulnerability assessment of agricultural production, transportation, processing facilities, agricultural machinery leasing facilities, and water supply facilities. It was developed for the evaluation of the vulnerability of each gun of garlic and onions based on the distance from the three groups of arable bodies to the facility and the processing capacity of facilities. In view of these regional imbalances, the store, distribution and processing facilities in the main stream were found in Haenam, South Jeolla-do, and the relatively low regions of the gun were located in Goheung-gun and Hampyeong-gun. Among other regions, agricultural machinery rental facilities were high in Changnyeong-gun, Haenam, and two regions, while the water supply facilities were high in the southern area of Haenam and South Jeolla-do. The Gyeongsang-do showed relatively high levels of comparison vulnerability index compared to Jeolla-do regions. In particular, through the management plan to improve the facilities needed to improve agricultural production infrastructure, it is necessary to increase the competitiveness of agricultural productuivity through the planning of the need for additional support through the rural readjustment project.

  • Annual demand of a precast concrete bench flume used in the irrigation canal of arable land readjustment has continuously increased units recently. The average life time of the precast concrete bench flume was estimated $8{\sim}10$ years, which is too shorter than the life time of in-site placed concrete structures. In order to increase the compressive strength of the precast concrete bench flumes, the highest temperature of being lower than $95^{\circ}C$ was suggested in this study, Through analyzing the relation between the compressive strength and the amount of chloride penetration into concrete specimens, a new formula early estimating durability of the concrete structure was suggested.

  • This study investigated structural changes of the Korea's agriculture and proposed the new direction of rural and agricultural policy in Korea after economic opening. The major results may be summarized as follows: Firstly, the study identified structural changes of the country's peasantry under the economic opening system. Korean agriculture has been deteriorated in population structure, arable land size, and income composition. Secondly, according to above analysis on these changes it suggested that the traditional rural communities were exposed to collapse and this unwanted disaster could result in serious adversities to the national economy. Thirdly, this study proposed preservation policies for small scale farming households and also administrative preparations of multi-dimensional approaches leading to successful rural and agricultural planning.
