COMPARISON OF INDICATING NET SHAPING (망지 사단방법의 비교)

  • The writer reviewed the cutting method of webbing practiced in major countries. Cutting rhythm Bar cutting to Point Cutting) should be chosen to approach as straight as possible, therefore the knot cuttings or the side cuttings should be 1, if possile. According to calculation, an arbitrary solution to a mixed cutting was undertaken, while another cutting method, of calculation 5 and 6, was taken by a prepared table. In no case, it was consequently possible to use an unmixed cutting rhythm. Sometimes, the cutting calculated from approximate value differs from desired result, tut this defference should not be taken too significant in practice.

  • The considerations in the noise control by enclosure are the rise of temperature and sound pressure, transmission loss, absorption coefficient of the materials, the structure of the soundproof panels, an opening and coincidence frequency. But it is very difficult that we obtain the accurate data about those in design, so, the noise reduction after enclosing does not correspond with the calculation. The difference of the noise reduction between the calculation and the measurement was 8.2dBA, and we can obtain the approximate result as the following formula which correct 10dBA, safely.

  • As we move to competition, transmission cost become more and more important. At the wholesale competition market, the process of settlement must include the cost of transport. The aim of this paper is to calculate approximate transmission cost at each power sales district office using KEPCO data. We considered investment cost, transmission constraints and marginal losses as cost elements which must be taken into account in transmission cost calculation.

  • This paper describes the basic principles of 3D broadcast system and proposes new 3D broadcast technology that reduce the amount of data by applying CS(Compressed Sensing). Differences between Sampling theory and the CS technology concept was described. Recently proposed CS algorithm AMP(Approximate Message Passing) and CoSaMP(Compressive Sampling Matched Pursuit) was described. Image data that compressed and restored by these algorithm was compared. Calculation time of the algorithm having a low complexity is determined.

  • Deflections due to warping are frequently ignored in design calculation. For thin member, shrinkage deflection results in important and objectionable additions to the dead load deflection. Thus it may be desirable to consider warping effects due to shrinkage for thin member. Some methods for computing shrinkage curvature have been proposed by many researchers. The approximate methods widely used in the recent years are the equivalent tensile force method. Miller's method and Branson's method (an empirical method based on Miller's approach extended to include doubly reinforced beams). These method were somewhat oversimplified and could be too conservative in the case of well cured concrete structure. In this paper, the approximate method for computing shrinkage curvature are reviewed and new approximate method based on the Age-Adjusted Effective Modulus method is proposed.

Sample Size Calculations for the Development of Biosimilar Products Based on Binary Endpoints

  • It is important not to overcalculate sample sizes for clinical trials due to economic, ethical, and scientific reasons. Kang and Kim (2014) investigated the accuracy of a well-known sample size calculation formula based on the approximate power for continuous endpoints in equivalence trials, which has been widely used for Development of Biosimilar Products. They concluded that this formula is overly conservative and that sample size should be calculated based on an exact power. This paper extends these results to binary endpoints for three popular metrics: the risk difference, the log of the relative risk, and the log of the odds ratio. We conclude that the sample size formulae based on the approximate power for binary endpoints in equivalence trials are overly conservative. In many cases, sample sizes to achieve 80% power based on approximate powers have 90% exact power. We propose that sample size should be computed numerically based on the exact power.

  • This paper presents the torque calculation method of a permanent magnet spherical motor. To calculate using the finite element method (FEM), three-dimensional (3D) FEM must be used. However, since the method requires excessive time and memory, an easier torque calculation method is hereby presented. In the proposed method, it is very important to obtain the approximation function of the torque profile curve. We present the approximation method of the torque profile curve and show that the torque calculation result can approximate the torque obtained by 3-D FEM.

  • A calculation method of the dipole moments for square planar and tetrahedral complexes by the valence bond method has been developed and an example calculation was carried out choosing the square planar and tetrahedral $[M(Ⅱ)N_2Se_2]$ type complexes. The calculated values of the dipole moments by the valence bond method are higher than those of the approximate orbital method. We found that we may predict the geometric structure of the transition metal complexes comparing the calculated values of the dipole moments with the experimental values. A new method for definition of C' parameter has also developed on the basis of extended Huckel theory.

  • This paper presents an approximate model for computing the peak demand power in a metro railway system. The peak demand of substations can be calculated using the current vector iteration method. But the existing method requires many repeated calculations to determine the peak demand power, which makes it difficult to apply to the real-time peak power control problem. In this paper, we assume that none of the conditions vary except source impedance and make an approximate model for rapid calculation based on changes in the impedance of the power substation. The proposed model result is approximately the same as the existing model, which is demonstrated through simulation.
