  • This paper is concerned with the existence of mild solutions for partial neutral functional integrodifferential equations with infinite delay in Banach spaces. The results are obtained by using resolvent operators and Krasnoselski-Schaefer type fixed point theorem. An example is provided to illustrate the results.

  • In this paper, we present a new extended Jacobi method for computing eigenvalues and eigenvectors of Hermitian matrices which does not use any complex arithmetics. This method can be readily applied to skew-Hermitian and real skew-symmetric matrices as well. An example illustrating its computational efficiency is given.

  • This paper deals with the linear quadratic optimal regulator problem for descriptor systems without performing a preliminary transformation for a descriptor system. We derive a generalized Riccati differential equation (GRDE) based on the two-point boundary value problem for a Hamiltonian equation. We then obtain an optimal feedback control and the optimal cost in terms of the solution of GRE. A simple example is included.

  • Proportional hazards model can be used to develop a realistic approach to determine the performance of a system. The proportional hazards model is typically applied for a group of equipments to assess the importance of factors that may influence the reliability of a system. In this paper we considered the interarrival times of a maintained system for the analysis of reliability, maintainability and availability. In order to demonstrate the proposed approach, an example is presented.

  • This paper develops a methematical model for growth and exploitation of a schooling fish species using a realistic catch-rate function and imposing a tax on the catch to control harvesting. Fishing effort is assumed to depend on the net revenue. The steady states of the system are determined and their local and global stabil-ity are discussed. Taking the tax as a control variable; the optimal harvest policy is formulated and solved as a control problem. The results are illustrated with the help of a numerical example.

  • Fractals which represent many of the sets in various scien-tific fields as well as in nature is geometrically too complicate. Then we usually use Hausdorff dimension to estimate their geometrical proper-ties. But to explain the fractals from the hausdorff dimension induced by the Euclidan metric are not too sufficient. For example in digi-tal communication while encoding or decoding the fractal images we must consider not only their geometric sizes but also many other fac-tors such as colours densities and energies etc. So in this paper we define the dimension matrix of the sets by redefining the new metric.

For example an $L_1$-bounded interval-valued martingale converges a.e. An interval-valued martingale ${{F_n}^\infty}_{n=1}$ is uniformly in-tegrable if and only if there is an interval-valued random variable F with $\parallel F \parallel _1<\infty$ such that $F_n=E(F\mid A_n)$, for all $n\geq 1$

  • As a zero set of some multivariate splines, the piecewise algebraic variety is a kind of generalization of the classical algebraic variety. This paper presents an algorithm for isolating real roots of the zero-dimensional piecewise algebraic variety which is based on interval evaluation and the interval zeros of univariate interval polynomials in Bernstein form. An example is provided to show the proposed algorithm is effective.

  • By using an important lemma, some analysis techniques and Lyapunov functional method, we establish the sufficient conditions of the existence of equilibrium solution of a class of BAM neural network with impulses and distributed delays. Finally, applications and an example are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the main results.
