Objectives: The purpose of this study was to determine the mediating effect of life attitude on the relationship between appearance satisfaction and self-efficacy of college students. Methods: The data from 223 college students (K-do and -city) highly interested in body and appearance, and were analyzed by three-step mediation analysis and Sobel test. Results: The mediating effect of life attitude was significant on the relationship between appearance satisfaction and self-efficacy. Namely, there was a mediating effect meaning the higher the appearance satisfaction, the more positive the attitude of life and the more self-efficacy. It was simultaneously found that the appearance satisfaction had a direct influence on self-efficacy. Conclusions: In summary, appearance satisfaction and self-efficacy act as internal factors that motivate individual self-development and the smooth adaptation of university life by changing own behavior. The purpose of this study was to identify women's clothing image according to their body image. Self-administered questionnaires were used for data collection. The results were as followed: First, the body image was shown in three dimensions of care for appearance, concern about weight, and appearance attractiveness. And clothing image was shown in seven dimensions of gorgeousness, beauty, sophistication, comfort, confidence, neatness, and feminity. Second, women were segmented into interest in appearance attractiveness group, body image intermediate group, appearance & weight concern group, and body image retard group. Interest in appearance attractiveness group and appearance & weight concern group were found frequently among women in 20s and students or unmarried women, preferred for gorgeousness and feminity of clothing more, and enjoyed internet shopping. Appearance & weight concern group was heavier than interest in appearance attractiveness group. Body image intermediate group were found frequently among women of lower education, and shopped at stores. Third, younger unmarried women preferred for beauty, confidence, and feminity of clothing image and older women preferred for comfort more. Women who preferred for beauty and sophistication of clothing image shopped at internet shopping mall more frequently.
The objective of this study was to examine the effects of appearance management behaviors on career decision level among female college students. Based on previous studies on appearance management behaviors and career decision level, the items for a questionnaire were developed. For the study, we conducted a questionnaire survey among 292 students from women's university in Seoul. Factor analysis, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis were performed using SPSS statistics 23. Results of this study are as follows. First, the factor structure of appearance management behavior had three factors: 'fashion & hair,' 'skin & plastic surgery,' and 'body shape.' The reliability and validity of the factor structure were proved. Second, a significant correlation was found between sub-factors in appearance management behaviors. Career decision level showed a significant correlation only with body management factor. Third, the appearance management behavior of female college students was found to have a partially significant effect on career decision level. For higher grade students, fashion & hair factor and body shape factor had positive effects on career decision level. For lower grade students, body shape factor had a positive effect on career decision level while skin & plastic surgery factor had a negative effect on career decision level. Therefore, to increase career decision level, managing appearance through keeping fit body shape is crucial. This study also suggests that as one elevates to a higher grade, the importance of management and keeping interest toward fashion is important.
The purpose of this study was to investigate appearance management behavior of Koreans in their 40s and 50s according to Shangri-La Syndrome'. Shangri-La Syndrome means a social phenomena which people in their 40s and 50s want to live as young as people in their 20s and 30s. The questionnaires were distributed to 500 people in their 40s and 50s living in Ulsan, Dague, and Seoul. Of 500 questionnaires, 368 of them were used in data analysis. Descriptives, frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis were performed using SPSS 12.0. The degree of Shangri-La Syndrome was evaluated by a cognitive age. As a result, first, people in their 40s and 50s showed to recognize themselves about 9.1 years younger than actual ages. Second, the attitude to appearance management behavior revealed to be generally positive and the correlation between the cognitive age and the attitude to appearance management behavior was presented to be low and negative. Third, types of appearance management behavior were classified skin care and clothing, figure management, plastic surgery, hair. The smaller cognitive ages were, in other words, the larger the degree of Shangri-La Syndrome of respondents were, the more positive their opinions to the types of appearance management behavior were. Among the types of appearance management behavior, figure management was shown to be the most effective means for appearance management but, clothing the most frequent usable one. In conclusion, it was found out that the relationship between Shangri-La Syndrome and appearance management behavior was low but positive.

We intend an empirical assessment of examining the differences in the appearance management behaviors and demographic variables among groups classified by the clothing consumption values. The questionnaires are administered to 493 female and male adults above 20 years old in Seoul, Gyeonggi-do, Daegu and Kyungpook regions. For analysis of data from 478 respondents, descriptive statistics, cluster analysis, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$, ANOVA, Duncan test and ${\chi}^2$ test were applied. We show the following results. First, Factor analyses were employed for the clothing consumption values and appearance management behaviors. Six factors were for clothing consumption values: Individuality, appearance attractive, social, functional, conditional and fashion clothing consumption value. Four factors were for appearance management behaviors: weight training, skin care, hair care, make-up and clothing selection. According to clothing consumption values, four groups were classified: the passive, functional, social, and active group. We did cluster analysis to the appearance management behaviors of weight training, skin care, hair care, make-up and clothing selection. Second, the social and active groups were more interested in individuality, appearance attractive, social, functional, conditional and fashion clothing value. And they were also more involved in appearance management behaviors. Third, among the demographic variables, the single and female in 20s and 30s with higher level of education belonged to the active group. In this contribution, we find significant differences in the appearance management behavior and demographic variables classified by the clothing consumption values.

The research method was survey and the subjects were 447 male and female adolescents in Daejeon, Korea. The questionnaire consisted of 4 measuring instruments; internalization of sociocultural values toward appearance, body image, clothing behaviors, and demographic attributions. The data were analyzed by factor analysis, t-test, variance analysis, Duncan's multiple range test, using SPSS program. The results are as follows. First, most of adolescents showed positive attitude on sociocultural values toward appearance, and female and high school students revealed higher level of internalization than male and middle school students. Second, as a result of factor analysis, 3 factors emerged in body image(appearance interest, appearance evaluation, and weight concern) and 4 factors emerged in clothing behaviors(clothing interest & psychological dependency, clothing ostentation, clothing conformity, and clothing comfort). Third, internalization of sociocultural values toward appearance had important effects on adolescents' body image and clothing behaviors; the adolescents who had high level internalization showed more interest on their appearance and weight and higher clothing interest & psychological dependency and clothing ostentation and lower clothing comfort than other adolescents who had middle or low level internalization. Forth, internalization of sociocultural values toward appearance showed many different effects on body image and clothing behaviors by adolescents' sex and age variables.
The purpose of this study is to classify the appearance concern into groups and analyze the differences of the attitude toward plastic surgery and clothing behavior by groups. Questionnaires are administered to 206 female adults in their 20's-50's living in Deagu and Kyungbook areas from $10^{th}$ July to $19^{th}$ July, 2013. Frequency, factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, cluster analysis, ANOVA, Duncan-test and ${\chi}^2$-test were used for data analysis. The appearance concern is categorized as follows: appearance harmony focus and body focus. The attitude toward plastic surgery was found as risk tolerance, image improvement/surgery desire and keeping the secret of surgery. Clothing behaviors are found as individuality focus, other focus, convenience and luxury ostentation. The appearance concern shows a significant correlation with the sub-variable attitude toward plastic surgery and clothing behavior. One test in the groups is determined by demographic variables like occupancy and monthly income. Appearance concerns are classified into three groups as follows: appearance concern group, low appearance concern group and body concern group. The groups show a significant difference in the attitude toward plastic surgery and clothing behavior. This difference indicates that the 20's show a high body focus on their appearance concern, an attitude of image improvement/surgery desire toward plastic surgery and another individuality focus on clothing behavior while 50's care more about convenience in their clothing behavior.

We collected AIS information on fishing vessels operating near Jeju Island, and analyzed appearance density of the Chinese fishing vessels and inferred the movements of the fishing grounds. AIS information was received from October 16, 2016 to October 16, 2017 and stored on a hard disk through a program called AisDecoder. Unauthorized fishing vessels within the Exclusive Fisheries Agreement Zone (EFAZ) operated near the EFAZ boundary, and the frequency of appearance of fishing vessels were high in the middle waters of Korea and Japan, 252 and 250 fishing zones. Chinese fishing vessels authorized to enter appeared scattered outside the Prohibiting Fishing Zone of the Large Trawlers (PFZLT), and the closer they were to the PFZLT boundary, the higher the appearance density. And the appearance of Chinese fishing vessels with a speed from 0 to 3 knots was mostly outside the EFAZ, showing high density in the waters close to the boundary between Korea and Japan. On the other hand, within the EFAZ, the frequency of appearance of Chinese fishing vessels was also low and scattered. The appearance of Chinese fishing vessels with a speed from 3 to 5 knots mostly shows some variability within the EFAZ, but the frequency of appearance was high and the density was high. The seasonal appearance of Chinese fishing vessels in the waters south of Jeju Island appeared in the southwest in the autumn and then moved south and southeast of Jeju Island in the winter, and in the spring and summer. They were considered going to other fishing grounds without fishing in the waters south of Jeju Island.
The purpose of this study was to find discover the effects of self-efficacy and self-esteem on the appearance management behavior of female college students. As for the study method, questionnaire survey sheets on general traits like age, grade year, major and management cost, sense of self-efficacy, self-esteem, and appearance management behavior were distributed to female college students. The responses were measured based on a 5-points Likert scale. The results of this study are as follow: One's sense of social self-efficacy and self-esteem were both found to affect appearance management behavior significantly. In other words, the greater one's sense of social self-efficacy, which represents one's sense of confidence in inter-personal relations, the greater one's appearance management behaviors to enhance her own value. Furthermore, the greater one's self-esteem(the way one feels positively about oneself), the greater one's appearance management behaviors. As a result, it can be judged that the more an individual wants to act more capable in different contexts, the more she tries to make up for her own disadvantage. To highlight her own advantages for the sake of greater positive social activities and inter-personal relation, the more she takes to improve her image through appearance management behaviors. It is anticipated that such an examination of appearance management behavior, sense of self-efficacy and self-esteem among female college students will serve as useful data for appearance-related industries by enabling them to properly under stand their clientele's psychological traits.
