  • A Shadow mask in C. R. T. (Cathod Ray Tube) undergoes a temperature increase due to impinging electron beams emitted from guns, and thermal deformation from such temperature rise may cause the electron beams to island on the panel, and thus give rise to depolarization. Hence the analysis of temperature distribution for a shadow mask is an important procedure for designing the shadow mask. In this paper, we are concerned with nonlinear finite element analysis of the temperature distribution on a shadow mask. First of all, we replace shadow mask, containing numerous apertures of a slit type, by an orthotropic shell without apertures, and calculate the apparent thermal conductivities. Because of thermal radiation, which is one of the major heat transfer mechanism for shadow masks, the resulting finite element equation is nonlinear and solved by the Newton method. Finally numerical examples are illustrated for a 21" FST(Full Square Tube) shadow mask, and followed by discussion.sion.

  • The problem of electromagnetic field through apertures in cavity has been theoretically and experimentally investigated. The electric field intensity has been theoretically evaluated by the method of moments. Experiment results are some different from numerical simulation about the magnitude of electric field intensity, But The form of electric field intensity distributions In cavity is similar to numerical simulation. Reactance-loaded method for reducing electric field penetration In cavity by external sources is used In this paper.

  • A palynological study of genus Dioscorea L. in Korea was conducted to evaluate the taxonomic implications. As a result of confirming the palynological characteristics of seven taxa of Dioscorea L., including six that are distributed in Korea and D. tokoro found in Japan, sections or species were classified according to the characteristics, such as the number of apertures, the polar end shape, and exine sculpturing. Specifically, the exine sculptures of D. coreana and D. tokoro, erroneously known to be distributed in Korea, are distinguished. The change in the number of apertures is closely associated with microsporogenesis, and it can be presumed that disulcate pollen might have been derived from monosulcate pollen in Dioscorea.

  • Fracturing technique using fluid injection into the borehole is widely used technology in the industry for the geothermal heat, oil, and gas extraction. Dealing with fluid-driven natural fractures such as dike and vein indirectly, design technology would be improved by adapting their principles. In this paper, mechanical interaction between the segments is evaluated by modeling highly segmented and closely spaced fluid-driven natural fractures. The number of segments is 71 with 3,339 measured apertures in which the interaction is considerably predicted. To evaluate mechanical interaction, boundary collocation method is used and the net pressure is calculated by using least square method to fit measured apertures. As a result, in case that mechanical interaction is considered, two pressures as fitting parameters are sufficient to capture measured apertures.

  • Electromagnetic penetration into an annular aperture in a thick conducting plane is investigated with the integral transform and eigen-function expansion method. The solution is analytic and is represented in rapidly-convergent series which is amenable to numerical analysis. Numerical computations shows that apertures with narrow annular gap have sharp transmit power peaks in frequency response.

  • The effect of $CO_2$ on the opening of stomata in the intact leaf of Commelina communis has been investigated. Full opening of stomatal apertures(around $18{\mu}m$) was achieved in the intact leaf by addition of $CO_2$($900{\mu}mol\;mol^{-1}$). At 90 minutes, the stomatal apertures of leaves treated with $CO_2$ free air were reduced. In contrast, stomata opened most widely with the treatment of $CO_2$ air at 90 minutes. The effects of light, $CO_2$ air and $CO_2$ free air on the change of membrane potential difference(PD) were measured. Fast hyperpolarization of guard cell membrane PD was recorded reaching up to -12 mV in response to light. If $CO_2$ free air was given firstly, there was no response. When light was given after $CO_2$ free air, the light effect was very clear. At the onset of $CO_2$ air, the PD showed a dramatic hyperpolarization to about -25 mV. Changes in the pH of apoplast in intact leaves in response to $CO_2$ air were observed. $CO_2$ air caused a change of 0.4 pH unit. Therefore, it can be hypothesized that $CO_2$ flowing could stimulate proton efflux which is a necessary precursor of stomatal opening.

  • In this paper, the directional coupler for Ku-band, which is designed is of the crossguide type with a coupling value of about 3-dB. The apertures chosen for this design are crosses. We used polynomial approximations of rounded end slot to obtain the electric and magnetic polarizability of crossed-slot and compared the results with Cohn's experimental results. The optimized dimensions and positions of the cross aperture are obtained by a trial-and-error reiteration of the program. This paper presents the measurement results for the designed coupler. The very flat coupling shows a total variation of only 29.80$\pm$0.04dB for the design frequency ranges of 12.25GHz-12.75GHz. The measured minimum directivity is 25dB. The aperture attenuation for the finite diaphragm thickness is about 2dB pr 0.5mm, which is in agreement with the theoretical value. The transmission loss and input return loss at center frequency are 0.0564dB and 48.16dB respectively. We obtained the measured minimum directivity of the coupler. Whose apertures are both circles is better than that containing holes in the performance of directivity.

  • Shielding effectiveness(SE) of metallic rectangular enclosure with rectangular slit apertures at horizontal polarization (HP) and vertical polarization(VP) is investigated. The magnetic polarizability of the rectangular slit apertures and the resonance modes of the metallic rectangular enclosure are analyzed theoretically. The simulation results based on these theoretical analyses are compared with the measured ones. The dependence of the shielding effectiveness on the location of the calculation probe inside the enclosure is also investigated.

  • Transmission cross section(TCS) is described analytically as $2G{\lambda}^2/4{\pi}$ irrespective of the aperture shapes for various transmission resonant apertures, such as small ridged circular or H-shaped, U-shaped, or Jerusalem cross-shaped apertures in an infinite thin conducting plane. The proposed expression is validated by comparison with the numerical results obtained from the method of moments(MOM). The TCS characteristics of the transmission resonant cavity structure in a thick conducting plane are also studied and the equivalence between the two small aperture structures is reported from the viewpoint of transmission efficiency.
