By using the signal error test, model structure of total antilock braking system consisting of electromagnetic system and hydraulic system is determined as 9th order system. For determining parameters of the ABS, using time discrete model of parametric method, parameters in time discrete model are searched by least square method. By bilinear transform, we have found the model of ABS in s domain. Afterward, experimental output data is compared with simulated output data by MATLAB haying identified parameter. As the result, experimental data is agreed with simulated data very well.
Antilock brake System (ABS) is a essential safety equipment for modern vehicles. It prevents wheels from being locked-up when emergency braking of a vehicle is required. So it can improves directional stability of the vehicle, shortens stopping distance. Heavy Vehicles such as trucks and buses use mainly pneumatic pressures for their braking systems, where pneumatic modulators control the flow rate of compressed air thus braking pressures in the wheels. In this paper, a antilock braking algorithm which is suitable for heavy vehicles was developed. This algorithm uses limit cycle of wheels and is implemented in the ABS ECU. The developed algorithm and ECU were tested in the labo..

Antilock Brake System (ABS) is designed to prevent wheels from being locked-up under emergency braking of a vehicle. Therefore it improves directional stability of the vehicle, shortens stopping distance, and enhances maneuvering during braking, regardless of road conditions. Hardware In-the-Loop Simulation (HILS) is an effective tool for design Performance evaluation and test of vehicle subsystems such as ABS, active suspension, and steering systems. This paper describes a HILS model for ABS/ ASR(Acceleration Slip Regulation) system applications. A fourteen degrees-of-freedom vehicle dynamics model is simulated in an alpha-chip processor board. The proposed HILS system is tested with a basic ABS control algorithm. The design and implementation of HILS system for the ABS ECU(Electronic Control Unit) development of commercial vehicle are presented. The results show that the proposed HILS system can be used to test the performance, stability, and reliability of a vehicle under braking.
Vehicle acceleration data from an accelerometer and wheel speed data from standard, 50-tooth antilock braking system wheel speed sensors are used to estimate the absolute longitudinal speed of a vehicle. We develop the four velocity estimation algorithms. And we compare experimental results with the Butterworth filtered speed from the fifth wheel and find that it is possible to estimate absolute longitudinal vehicle speed during a hard braking maneuver lasting three seconds.
Anti-lock Brake System has been developed to reduce tendency for wheel lock and improve vehicle control during sudden braking on slippery road surfaces. This is achieved by controlling the braking pressure, avoiding wheel lock, while retaining handling and brake performance. This paper is concerned about pressurecharacteristics of hydraulic modulator. Experimental sets which is consists of hydraulic modulator, duty controller, pressure regulator, pressure senset is consuructed. System modelling and computer simulation are performed for comparison with experimental results. Brake wheel pressure are measured under various driving pulse. The result of experiment show fairly agreement with the simulation. As a result, it is known that wheel pressure is affected by duty ratio, orifice diameter through computer simulation.
In this study, to investigate a characteristics of slip ratio control of H.C.U for ABS, half car model tester were developed and a new H.C.U. was compactly designed comparing to the commercical H.C.U. for ABS. In half car model tester, variable inertia wheel has been used to load the car weights and braking forces according to the road surface conditions which were realized by pneumatic cylinder. And solenoid valves using P.W.M. (Pulse Width Modulation) method were installed in the new H.C.U The slip ratio characteristics of tire had been measured using half car model tester and the results were used in the control simulation for a new H.C.U.
In this paper, a mathematical vehicle model, the braking force control parameters, the wheel control logic, and vehicle control strategy are presented, in order to analyze the dynamic characteristics of a vehicle equipped with ABS(Antilock Brake System). The full vehicle dynamics model is constructed with sprung mass, brake system, and wheels to verify control algorithms. The valve control algorithms are designed with the wheel accelerations and slip ratio take into consideration. Theses algorithms are applied to the front and rear wheels independently. Simulation is performed under the wet road condition at initial braking speed of 60 [km/h].
ABS(Antilock Brake System) prevents the wheels from "locking" and improve "handling" during braking. Currently, safety and environmental issues are a major concern in the automotive industry. ABS has become the vital brake system. ABS is composed of sensors for wheel speed, a pressure modulator for controlling the brake pressures in the wheel brake cylinders, and an electronic control unit(ECU) which evaluates the signals from the wheel speed sensors and converts these to commands to control the pressure of modulator. In this paper, ECU developed for commercial vehicles is described. Detection of wheel slip, control algorithms of ABS, and diagnosis method of ECU are presented.
The absolute longitudinal speed of a vehicle is estimated by using data from an accelerometer of the vehicle and wheel speed sensors of a standard 50-tooth antilock braking system. An intuitive solution to this problem is, 'When wheel slip is low, calculate the vehicle velocity from the wheel speeds; when wheel slip is high, calculate the vehicle speed by integrating signal of the accelerometer.' The speed estimator weighted with fuzzy logic is introduced to implement the above concept, which is formulated as an estimation method. And the method is improved through experiments by how to calculate speed from acceleration signal and slip ratios. It is verified experimentally to usefulness of estimation speed of a vehicle. And the experimental result shows that the estimated vehicle longitudinal speed has only a $6\%$ worst-case error during a hard braking maneuver lasting a few seconds.
