Heat Insulation Properties of Lightweight Magnesia Matrix According to Mixing Ratio of Anthracite (안트라사이트 치환율에 따른 경소마그네시아 경화체의 단열특성)

  • Recently, Subway workers have died from lung cancer. According to the Epidemiological Survey of the Welfare Corporation Institute of Pulmonary Disease of the Welfare Corporation, the family members applied for industrial accidents. The radon concentration in the subway work area was found to exceed 10 times the recommended standard value of 148 becquerels (Bq/㎥) in domestic multipurpose facilities. In addition, as a result of the national indoor radon concentration survey conducted by the Ministry of Environment in 2010 and 2013, housing was found to be over 100 becquerels (Bq/㎥) in 41% of the surveyed subjects. In addition, it was found that in 2012, 16.3% of villages exceeded the radon standard value in the survey on natural radioactive materials containing groundwater.

Coalbed methane potential for Korean anthracite and possibility of its utilization (국내무연탄층에 함유된 메탄자원의 잠재력과 그 이용가능성)

  • Coal is both source rock and reservoir rock for the coalbed gas. Coalbed gas. Coalbed gas is predominantly methane and has a heating value of approximatly 1000 BTU/$ft^3$. Most of methane is stored in the coal as a monomolecular layer adsorbed on the internal surface of the coal matrix. The amount of methane stored in coal is related to the rank and the depth of the coal. THe higher the coal rank and the deeper the coal seam is presently buried, the greater its capacity to hold gas. Most of Korean Coal is anthracite or metaanthracite, Ro. 3.5~5.5%, and total reserves are 1.6 billion metric tons. The domestic demand for coal was drastically decreased and the rationalization policy carried out from 1987 on coal industry. Now that a large number of coal mines was closed only a few mines continued to produce not more than 5 million tons for year. It is therefore recommended to formulate a strategy to explore and exploit the resources of coalbed methane in Korea.

  • Modern people are more interested in the indoor environment as they spend more time indoors than in the past. Among the air pollutants in the indoor air, ladon gas is a colorless, tasteless, odorless, inert gas produced by nuclear decomposition of naturally occurring uranium in rocks and soils. It has been proven that ladon gas is introduced into the room through cracks on the floor of the building or basement wall, and it causes various diseases such as lung cancer when exposed to radon during human breathing. The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) specifies 4pCi / L as a necessary measure for radon, and the Korea Environmental Protection Agency has implemented comprehensive indoor radon management measures since 2007. Therefore, in this study, we intend to adsorb and reduce radon in indoor air pollutants.

  • Recently, there has been an increasing interest in natural radioactive gas radon(Rn-222), the problem of indoor air quality pollution to worldwide. It has been scientifically proven to be hazardous to various diseases such as lung cancer and skin cancer if the human body is exposed to long-term accumulation of atomic nuclei due to the destruction of radon and alpha lines. Based on the indoor air quality control policy, this study is a basic experiment in the manufacture of a selective elimination function to containing radon adsorption and reduction of radon concentration, which is used to absorb radioactive isotopes such as phosphorus and radon in indoor environment.

  • By the instrumental neutron activation analysis using two comparators of gold and cobalt, 31 elements have been anlalyzed in anthracites collected from two main coal-fields in Korea. The average concentrations and ranges of the elements were obtained with the elemental difference between two coal-fields. The trends of rare-earth elemental distribution and vertical elemental distribution are also given.

  • The samples collected from two reactors are analyzed by X-ray diffraction and M$\ddot{o}$ssbauer spectroscopy in this study. It is concluded that the iron oxide crystal attached on anthracite media which possesses catalytic ability is identified to be Ferrihydrite, regardless of the value of pH from the analysis of the iron oxide. Iron oxide in Batch reactor is identified to be Microcrystalline goethite.

  • The objectives of this study were to investigate $SO_2$ removal efficiency of anthracite - bituminous coal blend combustion in a fludized bed coal combustor with Ca/S, anthracite ratio, bed temperature, and waste paper sludge particle size. The experimental results were presented as follow ; the effect of the desulfurization by the particle size of waste paper sludge was a great and $SO_2$ removal efficiency was heigest in paper sludge dia $1016{\mu}m$. And the difference of $SO_2$ removal efficiency according to air velocity was not too large. As Ca/S mole ratio incresed, $SO_2$ removal efficiency incresed rapidly up to Ca/S mole ratio 3 while the desulfurization rates did not increse too largely in the range of more than the level. The bed temperature had a great deal of effect on the desulfurization rate. So the $SO_2$ removal efficiency was a graet using waste paper sludge that the properbility of paper sludge as sorbent was conformed.
