In this paper. we describe a 32-channel bioimpedance measurement system It consists of 32 independent constant current sources of 50 kHz sinusoid. The amplitude of each current source can be adjusted using a 12-bit MDAC. After we applied a pattern of injection currents through 32 current injection electrodes. we measured induced boundary voltages using a variable-gain narrow-band instrumentation amplifier. a Phase-sensitive demodulator. and a 12-bit ADC. The system is interfaced to a PC for the control and data acquisition. We used the system to detect anomalies with different resistivity values in a saline Phantom with 290mm diameter The accuracy of the developed system was estimated as 2.42% and we found that anomalies larger than 8mm in diameter can be detected. We Plan to improve the accuracy by using a digital oscillator improved current sources by feedback control, Phase-sensitive A/D conversion. etc. to detect anomalies smaller than 1mm in diameter.

Machine learning-based structural health monitoring (ML-based SHM) methods are researched extensively in the recent decade due to the availability of advanced information and sensing technology. ML methods are well-known for their pattern recognition capability for complex problems. However, the main obstacle of ML-based SHM is that it often requires pre-collected historical data for model training. In most actual scenarios, damage presence can be detected using the unsupervised learning method through anomaly detection, but to further identify the damage types would require prior knowledge or historical events as references. This creates the cold-start problem, especially for new and unobserved structures. Modal-based methods identify damages based on the changes in the structural global properties but often require dense measurements for accurate results. Therefore, a two-stage hybrid modal-machine learning damage detection scheme is proposed. The first stage detects damage presence using Principal Component Analysis-Frequency Response Function (PCA-FRF) in an unsupervised manner, whereas the second stage further identifies the damage. To solve the cold-start problem, mode shape assessment using the first mode is initiated when no trained model is available yet in the second stage. The damage identified by the modal-based method would be stored for future training. This work highlights the performance of the scheme in alleviating the cold-start issue as it transitions through different phases, starting from zero damage sample available. Results showed that single and multiple damages can be identified at an acceptable accuracy level even when training samples are limited.
Owing to the increase of FTA, food trade, and versatile preferences of consumers, food import has increased at tremendous rate every year. While the inspection check of imported food accounts for about 20% of the total food import, the budget and manpower necessary for the government's import inspection control is reaching its limit. The sudden import food accidents can cause enormous social and economic losses. Therefore, predictive system to forecast the compliance of food import with its preemptive measures will greatly improve the efficiency and effectiveness of import safety control management. There has already been a huge data accumulated from the past. The processed foods account for 75% of the total food import in the import food sector. The analysis of big data and the application of analytical techniques are also used to extract meaningful information from a large amount of data. Unfortunately, not many studies have been done regarding analyzing the import food and its implication with understanding the big data of food import. In this context, this study applied a variety of classification algorithms in the field of machine learning and suggested a data preprocessing method through the generation of new derivative variables to improve the accuracy of the model. In addition, the present study compared the performance of the predictive classification algorithms with the general base classifier. The Gaussian Naïve Bayes prediction model among various base classifiers showed the best performance to detect and predict the nonconformity of imported food. In the future, it is expected that the application of the abnormality detection model using the Gaussian Naïve Bayes. The predictive model will reduce the burdens of the inspection of import food and increase the non-conformity rate, which will have a great effect on the efficiency of the food import safety control and the speed of import customs clearance.
A new methodology to detect forest fire burnt scars at near real time using MODIS (Moderate-resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) data is presented here with a goal of introducing a new and improved capability to detect forest fire burnt scars in Thailand. This new technology is expected to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the forest fire tackling resources distribution and management of the country. Using MODIS data in burnt scars detection has two major advantages - high availability of data and high resolution per performance ratio. Results prove the near real time algorithm suitable and working well in order to monitor the forest fire dynamic movement. The algorithm is based on the threshold separated linear equation of burnt and un-burnt. A ground truth experiment confirms the burnt and un-burnt? areas characteristics (temperature and NDVI). A threshold line on a scatter plot of Band I and Band 2 is determined to separate the burnt from un-burnt pixels. The different threshold values of NDVI and temperature use to identify pixels' anomaly, abnormal low NDVI and high temperature. The overlay (superimpose) method is used to verify burnt pixels. Since forest fire is a dynamic phenomenon, MODIS burnt scars information is suiting well to fill in the missing temporal information of LANDSAT for the forest fire control managing strategy in Thailand. This study was conducted in the Huai-Kha-Kaeng (HKK) Wildlife Sanctuary, Thailand
The 4th industrial revolution and the rapid change in the data environment revealed technical limitations in the existing relational database(RDB). As a new analysis method for unstructured data in all fields such as IDC/finance/insurance, interest in graph database(GDB) technology is increasing. The graph database is an efficient technique for expressing interlocked data and analyzing associations in a wide range of networks. This study extended the existing RDB to the GDB model and applied machine learning algorithms (pattern recognition, clustering, path distance, core extraction) to detect new abnormal signs. As a result of the performance analysis, it was confirmed that the performance of abnormal behavior(about 180 times or more) was greatly improved, and that it was possible to extract an abnormal symptom pattern after 5 steps that could not be analyzed by RDB.

As the number of attacks on vehicles has increased, studies on CAN-based security technologies are actively being carried out. However, since the upper layer protocol of CAN differs for each vehicle manufacturer and model, there is a great difficulty in researches such as developing anomaly detection for CAN or finding vulnerabilities of ECUs. In this paper, we propose a method to infer the detailed structure of the data field of CAN frame by analyzing CAN trace to mitigate this problem. In the existing Internet environment, many researches for reverse engineering proprietary protocols have already been carried out. However, CAN bus has a structure difficult to apply the existing protocol reverse engineering technology as it is. In this paper, we propose new field classification methods with low computation-cost based on the characteristics of data in CAN frame and existing field classification method. The proposed methods are verified through implementation that analyze CAN traces generated by simulations of CAN communication and actual vehicles. They show higher accuracy of field classification with lower computational cost compared to the existing method.
Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) have a longer lifespan, higher energy density, and lower self-discharge rates than other batteries, therefore, they are preferred as an Energy Storage System (ESS). However, during years 2017-2019, 28 ESS fire accidents occurred in Korea, and accurate capacity estimation of LIB is essential to ensure safety and reliability during operations. In this study, data-driven modeling that predicts capacity changes according to the charging cycle of LIB was conducted, and developed models were compared their performance for the selection of the optimal machine learning model, which includes the Decision Tree, Ensemble Learning Method, Support Vector Regression, and Gaussian Process Regression (GPR). For model training, lithium battery test data provided by NASA was used, and GPR showed the best prediction performance. Based on this study, we will develop an enhanced LIB capacity prediction and remaining useful life estimation model through additional data training, and improve the performance of anomaly detection and monitoring during operations, enabling safe and stable ESS operations.
Calibration and Validation are major element of any space borne Earth Observation Mission. These activities are the major objective of the commissioning phases but routine activities shall be maintained during the whole mission in order to maintain the quality of the product delivered to the users or at least to fully characterise the evolution with time of the product quality. With the launch of ERS-l in 1991, the European Space Agency decided to put in place a group dedicated to these activities, along with the daily monitoring of the product quality for anomaly detection and algorithm evolution. These four elements are all strongly linked together. Today this group is fully responsible for the monitoring of two ESA missions, ERS-2 and Envisat, for a total of 12 instruments of various types, preparing itself for the Earth Explorer series of five. other satellites (Cryosat, Goce, SMOS, ADM-Aeolus, Swarm) and at various levels in past and future Third Party Missions such as Landsat, J-ERS, ALOS and KOMPSAT. The Joint proposal by the European Union and the European Space Agency for a 'Global Monitoring for Environment and Security' project (GMES), triggers a review of the scope of these activities in a much wider framework than the handling of single missions with specific tools, methods and activities. Because of the global objective of this proposal, it is necessary to put in place Multi-Mission Calibration and Validation systems and procedures. GMES Calibration and Validation activities will rely on multi source data access, interoperability, long-term data preservation, and definition standards to facilitate the above objectives. The scope of this presentation is to give an overview of the current Calibration and Validation activities at ESA, and the planned evolution in the context of GMES.

Recently, kernel methods have attracted great interests in the areas of pattern classification, function approximation, and anomaly detection. The role of the kernel is particularly important in the methods such as SVM(support vector machine) and KPCA(kernel principal component analysis), for it can generalize the conventional linear machines to be capable of efficiently handling nonlinearities. This paper considers the problem of combining radar and rain gauge observations utilizing the regression approach based on the kernel-based gaussian process and support vector learning. The data-assimilation results of the considered methods are reported for the radar and rain gauge observations collected over the region covering parts of Gangwon, Kyungbuk, and Chungbuk provinces of Korea, along with performance comparison.

Purpose: For improving outgoing quality, this study presents a novel sampling framework based on predictive analytics. Methods: The proposed framework is composed of three steps. The first step is the variable selection. The knowledge-based and data-driven approaches are employed to select important variables. The second step is the model learning. In this step, we consider the supervised classification methods, the anomaly detection methods, and the rule-based methods. The applying model is the third step. This step includes the all processes to be enabled on real-time prediction. Each prediction model classifies a product as a target sample or random sample. Thereafter intensive quality inspections are executed on the specified target samples. Results: The inspection data of three Samsung products (mobile, TV, refrigerator) are used to check functional defects in the product by utilizing the proposed method. The results demonstrate that using target sampling is more effective and efficient than random sampling. Conclusion: The results of this paper show that the proposed method can efficiently detect products that have the possibilities of user's defect in the lot. Additionally our study can guide practitioners on how to easily detect defective products using stratified sampling
