  • Based upon the experimental data from multi-stage tensile loading at angles to the rolling direction of steel sheets, anisotropic hardening rules are proposed. Experiments show that orthotropic anisotropy is maintained and the orientations of orthotropy axes are changed during tensile loading. A phenomenological model is proposed which includes the rotations of orthotropy axes, work hardening and kinematic hardening. Using the model, uniaxial tensile stress, R-value and tensile necking strain are predicted and compared with the experimental data.

  • In order to achieve reliable but cost-effective crash simulations of stamped parts, sheet forming process effects were incorporated in simulations using the ideal forming theory mixed with the 3D hybrid membrane/shell method, while the subsequent crash simulations were carried out using a dynamic explicit finite element code. Example solutions performed for forming and crash simulations of I- and S-shaped rails verified that the proposed approach is cost-effective without sacrificing accuracy. The method required a significantly small amount of additional computation time, less than 3% for the specific examples, to incorporate sheet forming effects to crash simulations. As for the constitutive equation, the combined isotropic-kinematic hardening law and the non-quadratic anisotropic yield stress potential as well as its conjugate strain-rate potential were used to describe the anisotropy of AA6114-T4 aluminum alloy sheets.

  • In sheet metal forming, since the surface area of workpiece is apparently larger than the volume of it, the surface condition of the sheet metal is much varied. The formability of sheet metal is decided by the forming limit and the macroscopic suface defect as like fracture and wrinkle, and microscopic asponent, The factors affected in forming limit are stain herdening exponent, strain-rate scnsitivity exponent, anisotropic coefficient. The increasing of surface roughness is decresed the forming limit curve. It is known that the greater plastic deformation the more surface roughness by Kienzle, Osadaka. The purpose of this study is to investigate the influences of surface roughness in a uniaxial tension and the traperzoidal-shaped box drawing.

  • The mechanical responses of multilayered aluminum sheet fabricated by roll bonding, i.e., A1050/A3004 (65% A1050, 35% A3004 by thickness), were investigated via combined experiment and finite element (FE) analysis. The mechanical properties were measured using uniaxial tensile tests in various loading directions for the multilayered sheet. The corresponding tests for individual layers were also conducted. The testing samples were prepared by wire electro discharge machining (EDM). Stress-strain curves and Lankford coefficients of the multilayered sheet were then predicted by FE simulations. The measured mechanical properties of the individual layers were utilized as inputs for the simulation. Two yield functions, i.e., isotropic von-Mises and anisotropic non-quadratic Hill1948, were employed. Predicted results were compared with the experimental data and further discussed.

  • A method of numerical analysis is proposed for the pure stretch forming of A1 sheet by hemi-spherical punch. The analysis is performed by Woo's general method under the condition of variable friction and plastic yielding is based on the new anisotropic yield function proposed by Hill. A comparison of the calculated results with experiment shows good agreement for various lubrication when the initial values of the coefficient of coulomb friction at pole are less than 0.4.

  • In order to evaluate the effect of permanent softening behavior on springback prediction, 2D-draw bending simulations were compared with experiments for friction stir welded DP590 steel sheets. To account fur the nonlinear hardening behavior, the combined isotropic-kinematic hardening law was utilized with and without considering the permanent softening behavior during reverse loading. Also, the non-quadratic orthotropic yield function, Yld2000-2d, was used to describe the anisotropic initial-yielding behavior of the base sheet while anisotropic properties of the weld zone were ignored for simplicity.

  • In order to evaluate spring-back behavior in automotive sheet forming processes, a panel shape idealized as a SS-rail has been investigated. After spring-back kas been predicted fer SS-rails using the finite element analysis, results has been compared with experimental measurements for three automotive sheets. To account for hardening behavior such as the Bauschinger and transient effects in addition to anisotropic behavior, the combined isotropic-kinematic hardening law based on the Chaboche type single-surface model and a recently developed non-quadratic anisotropic yield function have been utilized, respectively.

  • Anisotropic work hardening of cold rolled low carbon steel sheets is studied. The experiments consist of two stage tensile prestraining and tensile tests. At the first prestraining, steel sheets are streteched along the rolling direction by 3% and 6% tensile strains. The second prestrains are at 0${\cric}$, 30${\cric}$, 60${\cric}$to the rolling directions by varying degrees. Tensile tests are performed on the specimens cut from the sheets after the two stage prestraining. A theoretical framework on anisotropic hardening is proposed which includes Hill's quadratic yield function, ziegler's kinematic hardening rule, and Kim and Yin's assumption on the rotation of orthotropy axes. The predicted variations of R-values with second stage tensile strain are compared with the experimental data.

  • Most formulations for a forming limit diagram (FLD) have been based on yield stress potentials defined in the stress field. Nevertheless, there are formulations where potentials defined in the stain-rate field are especially convenient to formulate the rigid plastic material. Based on a strain-rate potential proposed for materials exhibiting planar anisotropic, the formulations for the forming limit diagram has been developed applying M-K theory. As verification example, the formulation is applied for anisotropic AA5182-O sheet. The good verification results show that the formulation for the forming limit diagram has been successfully developed.
