  • This study is about setting the weighed value of evaluation items for cultural tourism development project using AHP and it analyzed the cultural and ecological tourism infrastructure project in three cultural areas of Andong City. As a result of examining the reliability of evaluation items, it turned out to be 0.9, an appropriate level. In the analysis of weighed value, the items valued highly were in the order of validity of the plan, economic validity, validity of the policy. As for the detailed indices for the three that showed the highest weighed value, for validity of the plan, distinction of contents; for validity of the policy, compatibility of regional characteristics; for economic validity, sustainability were given high values. In the end, it could be concluded that as the cultural and ecological tourism infrastructure project in three cultural areas was delayed a lot more than previously planned, in order to flexibly respond to changing environment, it would be desirable to change parts of the previous plan before pushing ahead with it.

  • Bellows product is an important part in the area of plant engineering, shipbuilding and petrochemistry. For safety and durability it is necessary to consider lots of factors when designing it. This research developed a U-shaped metal bellows design software based on EJMA 9th Edition manual. This GUI software was developed by using Matlab software and can be able to design four types of bellows, Unreinforced Single Bellows, Unreinforced Double Bellows, Reinforced Single Bellows and Reinforced Double Bellows. The already proven bellows model was designed to verify this software. We investigated the behavior while changing the thickness of the bellows. As the thickness of bellows increases, spring rate, thrust force, stress increase and fatigue life decreases. This software will be helpful design engineers save time and effort.

  • A geophysical survey was undertaken at Wiri area, Andong, to delineate subsurface structure and reveal the fault zone nearby which heaving of road and subsidence of slope occurred in 1997, especially in the heavy rainy season. Electrical resistivity methods of dipole-dipole array profiling and Schlumberger array sounding and seismic methods of refraction and reflection were performed for the mapping of clay layer, which was interpreted to be the major factor among the reasons of slope deformation. The clay layer was characterized by lower electrical resistivities (< $100{\Omega}{\cdot}m$) and lower seismic velocities (<400 m/s), respectively. The results of electrical and seismic surveys showed that subsidence of slope was probably associated with sliding of wet clay on 18SW/NNW trending fault plane, while heaving of road was probably caused by upward movement of the wet clay through subvertical NNE trending fault.

  • Rb-Sr isotopic ages of oxidized biotite in the weathering profile of granodiorite, Yecheon area, were measured by thermal ionization mass spectrometry, and compared with their K-Ar ages. A decrease of Rb-Sr isotopic age is well correlated with iron oxidation, and consistent with K-Ar age. Octahedral and interlayer cations including Rb and Sr were partly released from the oxidizing biotite by excess positive charge from iron oxidation. Divalent /sup 87/Sr decayed from monovalent /sup 87/Rb was more easily released from biotite, resulting in the reduction of Rb-Sr isotopic age. Weathered biotite is not suitable for the age dating of parent rocks, but behaviour of radiogenic isotopes provides useful information on the geochemical and structural changes of biotite during weathering.

  • The volcanic rocks in Saryangdo area are composed of Witseom Andesite, Punghwari Tuff, Araetseom Andesite, Obido Formation, Namsan Rhyolite and Saryangdo Tuff in ascending order. The volcanic rocks has a range of andesite-rhyodacite-rhyolite, which indicates calc-alkaline series and volcanic arc of orogenic belt. In Harker diagrams for trace element and REE pattern, these are also distinguished into so three groups(Witseom Andesite, Araetseom Andesite and Saryangdo Tuff) that each unit is interpreted to have originated in different magma chamber. The Saryangdo Tuff exhibits systematically(chemical zonations that gradually change) from lower dacite to upper rhyolite in section. The systematic sequence of compositional variations suggests that the tuffs were formed by successive eruptions of upper to lower part of a zoned magma chamber in which relatively dacitic magma is surrounded around rhyolitic magma of the central part. The zoned magma chamber was formed from marginal accretion and crystal settling that resulted form magmatic differentiations by fractional crystallization.

  • Trains have been a major means of transport in Korea during these past decades. However, train facilities such as stations and repair shops are contaminated with organic and inorganic substances. There is a high probability of train facility contamination with polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). This study evaluated the PAH and heavy metal contamination of soil near railroads in the Kyungpook area. A total of 18 soil samples were collected from the railroads and analyzed for 16 PAHs and 6 heavy metal species. The contamination level of the top soil was found to be slightly higher than that of the subsoil for contamination with PAHs. The ratio of carcinogenic PAH concentration to the total PAH concentration was relatively high, with a maximum of 0.9. The toxicity equivalent (TEQ) of the PAHs were 500.6 ng/kg in the topsoil and 355.5 ng/kg in the subsoil. The ratio of low molecular PAHs (LPAHs) to high molecular PAHs (LPAHs) ranged from 6.7 to 29.5; this shows that contamination is primarily due to combustion of fuel rather than due to petroleum. The ratio of phenanthrene to anthracene and the ratio of fluoranthene to pyrene also show that contamination occurred due to combustion for transportation. The heavy metal contamination level was lower than the Korean standard, but higher than the background concentration; this indicates that the soil was affected by the operation of the railways.

  • Crop classification plays a vitalrole in monitoring agricultural landscapes and enhancing food production. In this study, we explore the effectiveness of Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) models for crop classification, focusing on distinguishing between apple and rice crops. The aim wasto overcome the challenges associatedwith finding phenology-based classification thresholds by utilizing LSTM to capture the entire Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI)trend. Our methodology involvestraining the LSTM model using a reference site and applying it to three separate three test sites. Firstly, we generated 25 NDVI imagesfrom the Sentinel-2A data. Aftersegmenting study areas, we calculated the mean NDVI values for each segment. For the reference area, employed a training approach utilizing the NDVI trend line. This trend line served as the basis for training our crop classification model. Following the training phase, we applied the trained model to three separate test sites. The results demonstrated a high overall accuracy of 0.92 and a kappa coefficient of 0.85 for the reference site. The overall accuracies for the test sites were also favorable, ranging from 0.88 to 0.92, indicating successful classification outcomes. We also found that certain phenological metrics can be less effective in crop classification therefore limitations of relying solely on phenological map thresholds and emphasizes the challenges in detecting phenology in real-time, particularly in the early stages of crops. Our study demonstrates the potential of LSTM models in crop classification tasks, showcasing their ability to capture temporal dependencies and analyze timeseriesremote sensing data. While limitations exist in capturing specific phenological events, the integration of alternative approaches holds promise for enhancing classification accuracy. By leveraging advanced techniques and considering the specific challenges of agricultural landscapes, we can continue to refine crop classification models and support agricultural management practices.
