In this paper, a numerical anchor bond-slip model is proposed to improve the numerical simulation of concrete-steel structures connected with steel anchor bolts and subjected to extreme cyclic loading. The suggested bond-slip model is composed of a group of nonlinear uniaxial connector elements and its parameters can be determined by calibrating the model with pull-out test data. Numerical analysis results from simulating a concrete foundation-steel column structure using the proposed bond-slip anchor model, which is implemented based on Abaqus elements, and the perfect-bond anchor model are compared with the experimental results. It is concluded that a reasonable anchor bond-slip model is required to realistically simulate concrete-steel structures subjected to extreme cyclic loading, and the proposed anchor bond-slip model shows acceptable performance in the present numerical analysis.

Reinforced concrete beams with insufficient shear reinforcement were strengthened using glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) plates. In the study, the effect of the number of bolts on the load capacity, energy dissipation, and stiffness of reinforced concrete beams were investigated by using anchor bolt of different numbers. Three strengthened with GFRP specimens, one flexural reference specimen designed in accordance to Regulation on Buildings Constructed in Disaster Areas rules, and one shear reinforcement insufficient reference specimen was tested. Anchorage was made on the surfaces of the beams in strengthened specimens using 2, 3 and 4 bolts respectively. All beams were tested under monotonic loads. Results obtained from the tests of strengthened concrete beams were compared with the result of good flexural reference specimen. The beam in which 4 bolts were used in adhering GFRP plates on beam surfaces carried approximately equal loads with the beam named as a flexural reference. The amount of energy dissipated by strengthened DE5 specimen was 96 % of the amount of energy dissipated by DE1 reference specimen. Strengthened DE5 specimen initial stiffness equal to DE1 reference specimen initial stiffness, but strengthened DE5 specimen yield stiffness about 4 % lower than DE1 reference specimen yield stiffness. Also, DE5 specimen exhibited ductile behavior and was fractured due to bending fracture. Upon the increase of the number of anchorages used in a strengthening collapsing manner of test specimens changed and load capacity and ductility thereof increased.
Although being one of the most popular strengthening techniques in reinforced concrete beams, the use of steel plates bonded to the soffit raises problems of ductility. This study aims at investigating the influence of the use of perforated steel plates instead of solid steel plates on the ductility of reinforced concrete beams. A total of nine reinforced concrete beams were tested. In addition to an unplated beam, eight beams with perforated steel plates of two different thicknesses (3 mm and 6 mm) were subjected to monotonic loading. Effect of bonding the plates to the beams with anchor bolts and with additional side plates bonded to the sides of the beam with and without anchors is also investigated. The use of bolts in addition to epoxy was found to greatly contribute to the ductility and energy absorption capacity of the beams, particularly in specimens with thick plates (6 mm) and the use side plates in addition to the bottom plate was found to be ineffective in increasing the ductility of a concrete beam unless the side plates are attached to the beam with anchors bolts. The thickness of the plate was found to have little effect on the bending rigidity of the beam.

In this study we proposed a simplified finite element model of anchor bolt system inserted through concrete structures considering clamping forces. The three different finite element types using LS-DYNA are applied for numerical efficiency of the anchor bolt modeling. Combined beam and solid elements are used to reflect the tension state at internal part of anchor bolt due to torques. The clamping forces due to torques are considered by introducing a compression for a nut plane modeled by beam elements. The numerical examples show good agreement with different element types. Parametric studies are focused on the various effects of different element types on the induced axial and shear forces of anchor bolts considering clamping forces.

All bearing device should be examined to determine that they are functioning properly. Small changes in other portions of the structure, such as pier or abutment settlement, may be reflected in the bearings. Bearings should be checked to see that they can move freely and are clear of all foreign material. Shoes should be in proper position relative to the temperature at the time of the inspection. Check anchor bolts for any damage and to see that nuts are secure. See that anchor bolt nuts are properly set on the expansion bearings to allow normal movement. In this paper, rehabilitation method for damaged bearings is proposed and damage example of the skewed bridge is illustrated

The concrete structure under fatigue load depresses in mechanical capability or breaks down finally because of the fatigue. So recently the study on strengthening methods using bonded plate is widely attended. Which could be constructed under use and without damaging the structure. The intention of this method is to increase the useability of the structure and to recover the strength. So application on fields are sharply increasing. In this study it is tried to develop strengthening methods using notches and anchor bolts which could supply the defect on falling off of the plate at the end.

Recently, the Carbon Fiber Sheet(CFS) is widely used to strengthen the RC beams. But the behaviour of the RC beams which is strengthened with the CFS is not clearly defined yet. So, in this study we experimented with simply supported RC beams strengthened with the CFS, under monotonic loads. We included three parameters in this experiment which are the number of the sheets, the length of the sheets, and the existence of the anchor bolts. We investigated the strength effect of the RC beams by adhesion of the CFS, and the strengthening effect of CFS as to the respective parameters.

This paper presents a study on the behavior of a bolted T-stub to square tube connection using Thread-fixed One-side Bolts (TOBs) through tests and numerical simulations. It outlines a research work of four connections with focus on the failure modes and strengths of the connection under tensile load. It was observed that the thread anchor failure caused by shear failure of hole threads controlled the final failure of the connection in the tests. Meanwhile, the out-of-plane deformation of tube wall resulted in the contact separation between hole threads and bolt threads, which in turn reduced the shear strength of hole threads. Finite element models (FEMs) allowing for the configuration details of the TOBs fixed connection are then developed and compared with the test results. Subsequently, the failure mechanism of hole threads and stress distribution of each component are analyzed based on FEM results. It was concluded that the ultimate strength of connection was not only concerned with the shear strength of hole threads, but also was influenced by the plastic out-of-plane deformation of tube wall. These studies lay a foundation for the establishment of suitable design methods of this type of connection.
Many people have been recognized that the Korean Peninsula is no longer safe area from the earthquake by the recent earthquakes occurred in the country. The earthquakes that occurred at Pohang and Gyeongju appeared differently from them considered in the seismic design and researches on the seismic design method have been also conducted by many researchers. Studies on seismic loads are mainly focused on existing superstructures, and research involving them has been actively carried out in reality. However, paper regarding structural stability of reinforcement from seismic load such as soil-nails, rock-bolts, ground anchors which were constructed to ensure stability of serviced structure have been published rarely. In this study, ground anchor been effected by static load and seismic load which is settled in the weathered rock is analyzed. Results for static load are obtained from field test and seismic load is from numerical analysis. In this study, the behavioral characteristics of the ground anchor were analyzed by numerical analysis in case of seismic loading based on the result of the in-situ tensile test of the ground anchor settled weathered rock. As a result, settlement of concrete block due to application of tension force for ground anchor occurred as well as following loss of axial force for ground anchor. Also, as bond length and period of seismic load are longer, increasement of displacement is greater.
