기업의 보유 특허 특성과 경제적 활용 가능성에 대한 연구-의료화학산업 특허를 중심으로 (A Study on Properties of Patents in the Applicants and Possibility of Economical Usage-Focused on Pharmaceutical Chemistry Industry Sector)

  • As the importance of intellectual property rights for the 21st century challenge became prominent, many companies have been trying to secure many rights competitively. In particular, application numbers of patent that represents technology has been increased continuously. Korean companies were not exception; mainly in large companies, there have been continued the efforts to grow the number of patent applications in quantitative volume. But the issues that how viable patents the companies have, how effectively the companies manage, and how economically usable the patents are, are totally different from quantitative management level. As such, the issue is connected to how to assess the patent management level of companies. On the other side of quantitative growth of patent that companies hold, there are some problems such as the difficulties to determine if the patents hold substantial values, and the difficulties to determine whether the patent are managed effectively. In addition, as the numbers of patent application and registration of companies are increased, the cost for patent holding and managing increase. It is required to pay continuous attention to the cost of patent management because patent registration fee has a property that increases rapidly with time and burden for patentee become heavier. As a result of analysis and interpretation, we confirmed that quantitative management, particularly the number of patent applicant does not make positive impact on how to use patent after application. Rather, it is observed that the economical usage is influenced positively by the efforts of patent applicants such as considering for the time of patent examination, paying attention to receive patent registration decision. Therefore, this study shows that efforts patent applicants provide in management level after application time are important to maintain the value of patents.

한국, 미국, 중국의 애니메이션 기술의 특성 분석 -특허기술비교분석- (Analysis of Animation Technology Characteristics in Korea, the United States, and China - Comparative Analysis of Patent Technology -)

  • 국내 애니메이션 산업이 위축되고 있어 새로운 기술 및 애니메이션 제작 방식의 변화에 적극적으로 대응해야 할 시점이다. 2016년부터 2020년까지 애니메이션 기술 분야에서 미국, 중국, 한국에 등록된 특허정보를 통해 기술 주체인 출원인을 분석하고 각국 출원인이 추구하는 기술 정책 및 전략을 검토하였다. 중국이 가장 많은 특허를 등록하여 기술 활동성 지수가 높았으며, 미국의 시장 확보 지수가 높게 나타났다. 포지셔닝 분석 결과, 시간이 지남에 따라 미국의 시장 확보 영향력은 감소하였고, 중국의 기술 활동은 시간이 지남에 따라 점차 증가하였으며, 한국의 기술 활동성 및 시장 확보 지수는 감소하였다. 세계 최대 애니메이션 제작국으로 부상한 중국을 반영하여 한국도 애니메이션 지원정책을 개발해야 한다.

특허정보를 이용한 경쟁기업의 기술역량 분석: 이동통신 기술개발 기업을 중심으로 (Technological Capability Analysis of Competitor Using Patent Information: Focused on Mobile Communication Technology development companies)

  • 차세대 이동통신 관련 경쟁기업의 기술적 역량분석을 위해 특허정보 분석을 실시하였다. 특허정보의 분석방법으로는 출원인 분석, 기술분류 분석, 지표분석 등 여러 분석방법을 활용하였다. 경쟁기업의 기술적 역량분석 1단계로 특허활동도(Patent Activity:PA)가 높은 출원인을 선별하였고, 2단계로 기술자립도(Technological Independence:TI)가 높은 기술분류를 선별하였다. 그리고 1단계와 2단계 결과를 매칭하여 특허활동도가 높은 주요 출원인 중에서 기술자립도가 높은 기술분류에 대한 포트폴리오를 작성하였다. 이와 같은 과정을 통해 경쟁기업간에 집중적으로 연구되고 있는 중요 기술 포트폴리오를 분석할 수 있다. 이 분석 결과는 기업의 R&D계획, 특허전략 수립 등 전략적 R&D 관리 수행을 돕는 역할을 할 것이다.

석탄가스화 기술에 대한 특허분석 (A Patent Analysis on Coal Gasification Technology)

  • 석탄가스화 기술에 대하여 1970년대 중반부터 2010년까지의 한국, 미국, 일본, 유럽 및 국제특허를 조사하고, 각국의 출원 현황, 점유율, 주요출원인, 특허활동지수, 시장력 등을 분석하였다. 기술발전의 초기에는 일본과 미국이 기술개발을 주도하였으나 2000년대 들어 특허활동 주체가 다변화되고 있으며 전체적인 기술 발전주기는 발전기에 해당하는 것으로 분석되었다. 세부 기술 가운데 가스화기 분야에서의 특허가 가장 많은 것으로 나타났다. 인용도지수, 영향력지수, 기술력지수, 특허 패밀리크기 등의 지표를 이용하여 주요 특허권자의 기술경쟁력을 분석하였다. 특허패밀리크기 및 인용도지수를 이용한 정량화를 통해 핵심특허를 도출하고 기술흐름도를 작성하여 기술 동향을 살펴보았다.

Comparative analysis of US and China artificial intelligence patents trends

  • With the rapid development of artificial intelligence technology, the patenting activities related to the fields of AI is increasing worldwide. In particular, a share of patent filed in China has exploded in recent years and overtakes the numbers in the US. In the present study, we focus our attention on the patenting activity of China and the US. We analyzed 6,281 and 13,664 patent applications in the US and China respectively between 2008 and 2018, and belonging to the "G06F(Electric Digital Data Processing)", "G06N(Computer Systems Based on Specific Computational Models)", "H04L(Transmission of Digital Information)" and nine more relevant technological classes, as indicated by the International Patent Classification(IPC). Our analysis contributes to: first, the understanding of patent application trends from foreign countries filed in the US and China, 2) patent application status by applicants category such as companies, universities and individuals, 3) the development direction and forecasting vacant technology of AI according to main IPC code. Through the analysis of this paper, we can suggest some implications for patent research related to artificial intelligence in Korea. Plus, by analyzing the most recent patent data, we can provide important information for future artificial intelligence technology research.

한의학 관련 특허 중 소아 관련 특허동향 연구 - 국내 등록 특허를 중심으로 - (Analysis on the trends of Korean Medicine Pediatrics related patents)

  • Objective : The purpose of this study is to analyze for the patent application tendency in Korean Oriental Pediatric Medicine. Recently, many studies are published in Korean Oriental Pediatric Medicine. However, in the patent area, the research results are few. Method : For patent analysis, we searched the database kipris (http://www.kipris.or.kr) which managed in the Korean Intellectual Property Office by keywords about Korean Oriental Pediatrics. They are technically analysed by year and IPC, patent's contents, main applicant and organization. Results : 1. Patents by year have been on the rise 2 in 1997 to 32 in 2011. 2. Our findings are Section A61;182, A23;46 in IPC analysis 3. In classification of content, 'application-food' is 67 cases, 'application-functional cosmetic' is 18 cases, 'application-clothes' is 5 cases. 4. Korea Institute of Oriental Medicine have 14 patent cases, that is the most patent agency in possession. Main applicants are person > company > university > laboratory > state or local government. Conclusion : This study shows that it has high frequency of daily necessity in patent cases about oriental pediatrics. The results are more distributed 'applied' field than 'treatment' field. The patent information should be connected research achievement results in Korean Oriental Medicine.

Investigation on the technology trend in Platycodon grandiflorum by the patent analysis

  • The Platycodon grandiflorum (balloon flower) has been used as food material and traditional medicine in Asia. The roots have been used in traditional medicine to treat coughs, upper respiratory infections, and sore throats. Using 1,603 valid patents from 6 countries, we analyzed the patent trend based on year, countries, applicants, and technology. The technologies are categorized into 6 groups which include material, additives, manufacture, cultivation, breeding and seed. The technology competitiveness of countries were analyzed with quantitative factors such as cites per patent, patent impact index, patent family size and technology strength. In comparison with other countries in the patent index, South Korea shows an increasing trend in patent numbers and total leverage ability, although the individual technology is lower than Japan and USA. Our study provides information on technical trend to support the performance of new projects on balloon flower.

열 활성 지연 형광(TADF) 재료의 특허 분석 (The Patent Analysis of Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescence Materials)

  • The TADF (Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescence)-based OLED patents were analyzed and 4410 of patents were selected at the first step. And 975 patents were screened at second step. Finally, 39 key patents were selected. Patent qualitative analysis was performed in these patents to find which of the four property (lifetime, efficiency, color purity, driving voltage) of TADF was improved. Also, the variation of the hosts and dopants in patented TADF material were surveyed and their combination was analyzed. According to the analysis of the variation and the combination, some of TADF compounds were used as an assistant dopant to transfer energy. In addition, it tended to transfer energy by forming exciplex that shows TADF characteristics. These were similar to the mechanism of the introduced hyper fluorescence and could solve the inherent TADF problems. Finally, patent citation network was illustrated to visualize the patent citations and citations relationship of the major applicants in the current TADF-based OLED technology. The leading patent applicant organization was revealed as Idemitsu Kosan, Semiconductor Energy Laboratory, UDC, Princeton University, Merck and Nippon Steel & Sumikin Chemical, which had lots of reference patents 559, 524, 477, 310, 258, and 167, respectively.

고효율 흡수식 냉동기의 특허기술 분석연구 (An Analysis of the Patent for Highly Efficient Absorption Refrigeration System)

  • A technical analysis was conducted to predict the development trend for the highly efficient absorption type refrigeration system. The study was based on a submitted patent during January 1981 and December 2000 in Korea, Japan and America. The total number of extruded patents from the registered database was 24,822 and the filtering process makes the reduction of the data number to 3,510. Technical development of Japan for the absorption type refrigeration system is prominent compared to the other country due to approximately 75% of the patents coming from Japan. When the patent is divided into two categories, the patent for component technology for the refrigeration system makes up 75% and the refrigerating type technology 25% of the patents. This shows technical development for the system component is advanced compared to the technology development for the system type. When the patents are classified by nationality of patent applicants, foreigners contribute up to 33% of the patents in Korea. However, Japan's case shows the 99% of the patents are invented by the Japanese. If the patents are classified to the International Patent Classification, most of the data for the absorption type refrigeration system belongs to IPC F25B.

조류 인플루엔자 예방 및 면역 증진을 위한 천연 사료 첨가제 특허동향 분석 (Patent Trend Analysis on Natural Feed Additive for Avian Influenza Prevention and Immune Enhancement)

  • 본 연구에서는 조류 인플루엔자 예방 및 면역 증진을 위한 천연 사료 첨가제의 특허동향을 분석하였다. 2017년 12월 31일 이전에 공개된 한국 및 중국 특허를 대상으로 검색하였다. 한국은 53건, 중국은 105건의 관련특허를 유효특허로 선정하였다. 이 중에서 등록된 특허는 한국은 38건, 중국은 18건이었다. 한국과 중국 모두 2000년 후반부터 출원 건수가 증가하였으며, 특히 중국은 2016년의 특허 출원활동이 활발하였다. 한국특허에서 주로 사용된 사료 첨가제는 녹차, 울금, 강황, 진피, 패모, 행인 황련, 중국특허에서는 판람근, 금은화, 연교, 감초, 황기, 황금, 산사 등이 많이 사용되었다. 두 국가 모두 한방재료를 이용한 사료첨가제가 많았다. 한국은 대학, 연구소 및 바이오 관련 기업의 출원이 많았고, 중국은 개인 출원인의 비중이 높았다.
