  • To promote the consistent and effective implementation of IMO instruments such as SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW, LL, TONNAGE, COLREG IMO has adopted voluntary IMO member state audit. This audit scheme is voluntary audit which will be carried out on a voluntary basis, at the request cf the member state to be audited. Nevertheless, the Korea government is preparing the implementation of the audit scheme to strengthen the competitiveness in shipping and shipbuilding industries. In this paper, we investigated the actual conditions of implementation of mandatory IMO instruments and carried out a feasibility study by assessing the cost to be audited and positive effects expected by introducing the audit scheme. As a result of cost benefit analysis we obtained high benefit-cost ratio.

  • Structural analysis of a brake shoe for commercial vehicle was performed using finite element method. Since the strength of a brake shoe is affected by the magnitude and distribution shape of the contact pressure with the drum, the contact pressure between the shoe friction material and drum was calculated using a 2-Dimensional non-linear contact analysis in a state. And the brake was actuated by input air pressure and the drum of it was calculated both stationary and dynamic based on forced torque applied to the drum during the static state analysis. The results of the above analysis were then used as the load boundary conditions for a 3-Dimensional shoe model analysis to determine the maximum strain on the shoes. In the analysis model, the values of tensile test were used for the material properties of the brake shoes and drum, while the values of compression test were used for the friction material. We assumed it as linear variation, even though the properties of friction material were actually non-linear. The experiments were carried out under the same analysis conditions used for fatigue test and under the same brake system which equipped with a brake drum based on the actual axle state in a vehicle. The strains were measured at the same locations where the analysis was performed on the shoes. The obtained results of the experiment matched well with those from the analysis. Consequently, the model used in this study was able to determine the stress at the maximum air pressure at the braking system, thereby a modified shoe model in facilitating was satisfied with the required endurance strength in the vehicle.

  • In this study, simulation on the powder compression forming of oilless bearing is performed and the analysis results are compared with the actual products. This study aims to examine the suitability of powder compression for bearing by using FEA(finite element analysis) before full-scale production. The lubrication state can be predicted by changing the coefficient of friction in order to get the optimal density gradient. Analysis for single and double action presses are performed and these results are compared with each other. State and process of optimal lubrication are proposed from the study result.

  • The aim of this study is to investigate the actual state for the development of the thermally comfortable uniform for workers on a low temperature storage. Observation, interview and survey were executed focusing on the environment, clothing, and human factors which have effects on the comfort of workers. Of 400 distributed, 253 questionnaires were analyzed through descriptives, frequency, ANOVA, t-test, multi-response analysis, correlation analysis with SPSS 12.0. The results are following. Coming and going between a selling area and cold storages, the workers showed to experience a big temperature gap. They indicated to feel cold on face and hands which were not covered by clothing and have got sick because of low temperature. The workers wanted the uniform made of functional fabrics, especially heat insulation fabrics. Female workers rather than male workers, the older, and the longer their working period were, the more uncomfortable they revealed to feel. The workers who works on the daily products part or mainly on the freezer appeared to feel cold more than any other workers. In conclusion, it was found that the uniform which consider steady state and unsteady state heat transfer together must be developed.

  • The purpose of this study is to clarify the actual conditions of external space of middle and high schools in Gyeongnam Area. This article discuses about the characteristics of the external space and the site plan type of 49 middle and high schools in Gyeongnam Area. The result of analysis about site plan type, composition state of external space and area ratio of its composition of each middle and high school facilities are as follows: In facilities arrangement of middle and high schools, it shows diverse forms of arrangement from existing uniform straight type, however, most of schools do not being against the simple in their external space. Especially, for the area is small in the composition of external space, a playground is only under $50m{\times}80m$ and outdoor learning space or resting space is not secured sufficiently. Therefore, it requires an expansion of space size and facilities for the change of school life outside class.

  • In this paper, the reasonable design standard of Demand Factor for large office buildings is introduced that was made by the statistical way considering actual conditions, such as investigated electrical equipment capacity, electrical power consumption, etc. The results are as follows. 1) It is shown that th saving of electrical equipment investment, the decrease of power loss, the improvement of facilities utilization and the decrease of electrical power rates can be contributed by the application of the design standard. 2) The effect of reduction is showed to confirm the practical use of the proposed reference Demand Factor, and also, it is believed that this proposed reference Demand Factor will be useful in electrical equipment operation and planning.

  • The purpose of this study is to classify a three-fold role of the history of mathematics through epistemological analysis. Based on the history of infinity and limit, the "potential infinity" and "actual infinity" discourses are described using four different historical epistemologies. The interdependence between the mathematical concepts is also addressed. By using these analyses, three different uses of the history of mathematical concepts, infinity and limit, are discussed: past, present, and future use.

  • This paper is devoted to a study of the characterization of the plasma state. For the purpose of monitoring plasma condition, we experiment on reactive ion etching (RIE) process. Without actual etch process, generated oxygen plasma, measurement of plasma emission intensity. Changing plasma process parameters, oxygen flow, RF power and chamber pressure have controlled. Using the optical emission spectroscopy (OES), we conform to the unique oxygen wavelength (777nm), the most powerful intensity region of the designated range. Increase of RF power and chamber pressure, emission intensity is increased. oxygen flow is not affect to emission intensity.

  • This study was carried out to investigate the actual state of management for tourism farms of Chuncheon City. Also, it was evaluated whether the selection of suitable place was done for the existing tourism farms with GIS. Especially, it was analyzed for the distance and time used by visitors of tourism farms. The directions for the efficient agricultural land uses and selection of suitable places were suggested for the tourism farms being opened in the future with these analyses.

  • Precise control of interior permanent magnet synchronous motor(IPMSM) over wide speed range is an engineering challenge. This paper considers the design and implementation of novel technique of high performance speed control for IPMSM using learning mechanism-fuzzy neural network(LM-FNN) and ANN(artificial neural network) control. The hybrid combination of neural network and fuzzy control will produce a powerful representation flexibility md numerical processing capability. Also, this paper proposes speed control of IPMSM using LM-FNN and estimation of speed using artificial neural network controller. The back propagation neural network technique is used to provide a real time adaptive estimation of the motor speed. 'The error between the desired state variable and the actual one is back-propagated to adjust the rotor speed, so that the actual state variable will coincide with the desired one. The back propagation mechanism is easy to derive and the estimated speed tracks precisely the actual motor speed. Analysis results to verify the effectiveness of the new hybrid intelligent control proposed in this paper.
