  • The paper represented the lower extremity muscle model as four rigid-body segments: trunk, shank, and foot. We transformed their tibial data into our shank data by rotating their tibial X and Y axes by 5.483 degrees, so the revised coordinate data used to translating the origin of their tibial reference frame to our shank reference frame. According to weight of subject, physiological cross-setional area(PCSA) of each lower extremity muscle was calculated by scaling those data by Brand. The objectives of this paper are to investigate the variations of the recruitment patterns of the lower extremity muscles, and to analyze the changes of the role assigned to each muscle during the seated foot operation. For exertion levels, the transition point of type F motor unit of each muscle is inferred by analyzing the electromyogram at the seated postures. Also, for predetermined seated foot operations exertion levels, the recruitment pattern and the changes of the role assigned are identified in the continuous exertion, by analyzing the electromyogram changes due to the accumulated muscle fatigue. This study can be used to design and to assess the pedals and foot-related equipments design.

  • In industry, there are several different controllers which can be implemented for power conditioning systems (PCS) such as proportional-resonant (PR), predictive deadbeat (PD), or proportional-integral (PI) controller. But there are not any comparison studies about these controllers. To investigate the differences between the three types of the controllers, this paper presents a comparative study of PR, PI, and PD controllers in a photovoltaic (PV) PCS. These controllers are designed mathematically and simulated for the comparative analysis. The PI controller is designed in the rotating reference (dq) frame. The PR and PD controllers are implemented in the natural (abc) reference frame. The PCS is composed of a DC-DC boost converter and a full bridge inverter. The filter of the PCS is an LCL filter including a passive damping resistor. The parameters of PCS are 3 kW, 25 kHz switching frequency and 220 V-60 Hz grid voltage. The comparison results between these controllers for the grid-connected PCS are clearly shown. The simulation results demonstrate the detailed characteristics of each controller for the PV PCS in order to choose the controller for individual target properly.

  • In order to obtain the genetic informations of the Korean isolates of porcine circovirus 2 (PCV2), nucleotide sequences of total genome of three isolates and open reading frame 2 (ORF2) of four isolates were determined and compared with those of other reference PCV2 isolates. Nucleotide sequences of 3 isolates showed over 99% homology with those of reference strain (GenBank accession no. AF027217). Point mutations were mainly determined on ORF2 regions but little on ORF1 regions. The patterns of pointmutated sites and nucleotide substitution on ORF2 regions were generally consistent between Korean isolates, and these mutated sites observed in Korean isolates were also relatively similar to those of foreign isolates. Phylogenetic analysis of nucleotide or amino acid sequences showed that there were minor branches consisting of three clusters; cluster of Korea, Canada and America, cluster of Spain and Taiwan, and the last cluster of French and China isolates. These results suggested that Korean PCV2s were probably originated from North America such as Canada or USA. The genetic informations obtained from this study could be useful for the research of diagnosis and pathogenecity of PCV2.

  • Stirred tank is widely used in various industries for mixing operations and chemical reactions for single- or multi-phase fluid systems. For designing agitator of high performance, quantity data of internal flow characteristics influenced by mixing performance are definitely confirmed but quantity analysis about the transient flow characteristics of complicate structure is recognized as difficult problem in the present. In this study, two models of commercial CFD code Fluent 6.3 used to propose suitable for the tank analysis. Agitation of Stirred tank is analyzed using a mixed model and the flow in the stirred tank is analyzed using a standard k-${\varepsilon}$ model. Multiple reference frame(MRF) and Sliding mesh(SM), the analysis techniques were used For compare a result of CFD with a visualization experiment result, to grasp internal flow and mixing characteristic in stirred tank and to present fundamental analysis method.

  • In this study, fatigue crack growth rate of a cracked railway bogie frame under variable amplitude loading is predicted by applying linear elastic fracture mechanics. For this purpose, we find the critical points by reference surveying on cracked railway bogie frames. And we make an effective load history by synthesizing the dynamic load measured from the critical points of railway bogie frame during commercial line operation and the static load calculated from structural analysis. Crack growth analyses are performed at the 3 critical points under the commercial operation loading condition by assuming an initial crack size as 40 mm. and the results are compared with the experimental results from Japanese railway bogie frame crack growth case. From the analysis results, we find that around 500,000 km operating distance is necessary to bring crack growth from the initial crack to unstable crack. And it takes around 3.8 normal operating years. We conclude that it is enough time to detect the crack between normal maintenance period.

  • Low cyclic loading tests are conducted on the steel reinforced recycled concrete (SRRC) column-steel (S) beam composite frame joints. This research aims to evaluate the earthquake damage performance of composite frame joints by performing cyclic loading tests on eight specimens. The experimental failure process and failure modes, load-displacement hysteresis curves, characteristic loads and displacements, and ductility of the composite frame joints are presented and analyzed, which shows that the composite frame joints demonstrate good seismic performance. On the basis of this finding, seismic damage performance is examined by using the maximum displacement, energy absorbed in the hysteresis loops and Park-Ang model. However, the result of this analysis is inconsistent with the test failure process. Therefore, this paper proposes a modified Park-Ang seismic damage model that is based on maximum deformation and cumulative energy dissipation, and corrected by combination coefficient ${\alpha}$. Meanwhile, the effects of recycled coarse aggregate (RCA) replacement percentage and axial compression ratio on the seismic damage performance are analyzed comprehensively. Moreover, lateral displacement angle is used as the quantification index of the seismic performance level of joints. Considering the experimental study, the seismic performance level of composite frame joints is divided into five classes of normal use, temporary use, repair after use, life safety and collapse prevention. On this basis, the corresponding relationships among seismic damage degrees, seismic performance level and quantitative index are also established in this paper. The conclusions can provide a reference for the seismic performance design of composite frame joints.

  • In this paper, we study the temperature change of a ${\mu}$-bolometer focal plane array with a capacitive transimpedance amplifier bias cancellation circuit. Thermal analysis is essential to understand the performance of a ${\mu}$-bolometer focal plane array, and to improve the temperature stability of a focal plane array characteristics. In this study, the thermal analyses of a ${\mu}$-bolometer and its two reference detectors are carried out as a function of time. The analyses are done with the $30{\mu}m$ pitch $320{\times}240$ focal plane array operating of 60 Hz frame rate and having a columnwise readout. From the results, the temperature increase of a ${\mu}$-bolometer in FPA by an incident IR is estimated as $0.689^{\circ}C$, while the temperature increase by a pulsed bias as $7.1^{\circ}C$, which is about 10 times larger than by IR. The temperature increase of a reference detector by a train of bias pulses may be increased much higher than that of an active ${\mu}$-bolometer. The suppression of temperature increase in a reference bolometer can be done by increasing the thermal conductivity of the reference bolometer, in which the selection of thermal conductivity also determines the range of CTIA output voltage.

  • In this study, the analysis of 2DOF (2 Degree Of Freedom) motion and added resistance of a ship in regular head waves is carried out using RANS (Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes) approach. In order to improve the accuracy for large amplitude motions, the dynamic overset scheme is adopted. One of the dynamic overset schemes, Suggar++ is applied to WAVIS which is the in-house RANS code of KRISO (Korea Research Institute of Ships and Ocean Engineering). The grid convergence test is carried out using the present scheme before the analysis. The target hull form is KRISO VLCC tanker (KVLCC2) and 13 wave length conditions are applied. The present scheme shows the improved results comparing with the results of WAVIS2 in the non-inertial reference frame. The dynamic overset scheme is confirmed to give the comparatively better results for the large amplitude motion cases than the non-inertial frame based scheme.

  • The energy-saving block and invisible multi-ribbed frame composite wall (EBIMFCW) is a new type of load-bearing wall. The study of this paper focus on it is hysteresis rule under horizontal cyclic loading. Firstly, based on the experimental data of the twelve specimens under horizontal cyclic loading, the influence of two important parameters of axial compression ratio and shear-span ratio on the restoring force model was analyzed. Secondly, a tetra-linear restoring force model considering four feature points and the degradation law of unloading stiffness was established by combining theoretical analysis and regression analysis of experimental data, and the theoretical formula of the peak load of the EBIMFCW was derived. Finally, the hysteretic path of the restoring force model was determined by analyzing the hysteresis characteristics of the typical hysteresis loop. The results show that the curves calculated by the tetra-linear restoring force model in this paper agree well with the experimental curves, especially the calculated values of the peak load of the wall are very close to the experimental values, which can provide a reference for the elastic-plastic analysis of the EBIMFCW.

  • In wind power generating system connected in power grid the value of stator flux has almost constant because the stator side of wound rotor induction generator is connected to power grid. Using the stator and rotor current it is possible to achieve control of generating power in stator side. This means that we can control the power factor by decoupled rotor current in synchronously rotating reference frame. To verify the theoretical analysis results of computer simulation and experiment are presented to support the discussion.
