Analysis of Perceptions on ESG Management Evaluation Priorities based on Agricultural and Rural Public Value - Focusing on the Korea Rural Community Corporation - (농업·농촌 공익적 가치 기반 ESG 경영 평가지표 인식 분석 - 한국농어촌공사를 대상으로 -)

  • This study aims to identify perceptions on ESG management evaluation priorities based on public value in the agricultural and rural sector with the focus on the Korea Rural Community Corporation. We conduct Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to analyze how ESG management evaluation priorities are perceived by distinctive groups across industrial fields. To this end, experts working in the agricultural and rural sector and the general public in non-agricultural sector were questioned to derive and compare the weights for each class of ESG management. Results show the followings: First, the weight for the environment (E) was derived as 0.51774 in the first layer, which was found to be the most important evaluation item among the environment (E), society (S), and governance (G). Second, "ecosystem restoration," "urban-rural exchange expansion and regional development," and "increasing transparency" were the most important items in the second layer. Third, priorities between the agricultural and non-agricultural respondents groups were different in environmental (E) and social (S) categories, which explained that perceptions on ESG management by workers and policy makers in the agricultural and rural sector are different from those by general public in the non-agricultural sector.

Subjective response evaluation items for floor impact noise using various impactors (다양한 충격원에 대한 바닥충격음 주관반응 평가항목 분석)

  • This study attempted to develop repetitive impact sources similar to real-life floor impact noise and to find an assessment approach corresponding to this new impact source. The necessity for the development of the new impact source arises from the fact that issues related to floor impact noise in actual residential buildings mainly stem from children running. However, the standard impact sources which have been used for measuring and evaluating floor impact noise are of single-impulse type, which differs from the actual problematic impact sources. The study encompassed 18 evaluation items, and the results suggest that items applicable for assessing floor impact noise include psychological effects (annoying, becoming angry), disturbances to daily life (interference with sleep, disruption of relaxation), and physiological effects (elevated blood pressure). These items can be employed individually and, depending on the type of evaluation for floor impact noise, can be selectively utilized. By doing so, more comprehensive evaluations of auditory experiments in laboratories or assessments of residential noise in living environments related to floor impact noise could be conducted.

The Development of an Instrument to Assess Young Children's Understanding of Science Inquiry Skills and Its Application (유아의 과학적 탐구기술 이해 검사도구의 개발 및 적용)

  • The present study aimed to develop an instrument to assess young children's understanding of science inquiry skills. For the purposes of the study, based on analysis of literature and evaluation tools related to young children's science inquiry skills, five categories of understanding science inquiry skills including observing, classifying, predicting, measuring, and discussing were selected. Then 30 test items were developed and verified three times through opinions from science education and early childhood education professionals and teachers. Finally, a total of 19 test items within five categories were developed. The 19 items' item difficulty, item discrimination, and item internal consistency were verified statistically. In addition, concurrent validity and test-retest reliability of the items were verified by the significant correlation coefficients. The instrument developed in this study was administered to 300 children who were 3, 4, and 5 years old. The results showed that 5 year old children had better competence to understand science inquiry skills than 4 and 3 year old children, while there were no differences in the competence between boys and girls.

Development and Psychometric Evaluation of the Transcultural Self-efficacy Scale for Nurses (간호사의 범문화효능감 측정도구 개발 및 타당화)

  • Purpose: This methodological study was conducted to develop and psychometrically test the Transcultural Self-efficacy scale (TCSE-scale) for nurses. Methods: Initial 41 items for the TCSE-scale were generated based on extensive literature reviews and in-depth interviews with 18 nurses who had experience in caring for foreign patients. Cultural Competence and Confidence model was used as a conceptual framework. Content validity was evaluated by an expert panel. Psychometric testing was performed with a convenience sample of 242 nurses recruited from four general hospitals in the Seoul metropolitan area and Gyeonggi-do province of South Korea. To evaluate the reliability of TCSE-scale, a test-retest reliability and an internal consistency reliability were analyzed. Construct validity, concurrent validity, criterion validity, convergent validity and discriminative validity were used to evaluate the validity. Results: The 25-item TCSE-scale was found to have three subscales-Cognitive, Practical, and Affective domain-explaining 91.5% of the total variance. TCSE-scale also demonstrated a concurrent validity with the Cultural Competence Scale. Criterion-related validity was supported by known-group comparison. Reliability analysis showed an acceptable-to-high Cronbach's alpha-.88 in total, and subscales ranged from .76 to .87. The ICC was .90, indicating that the TCSE-scale has internal consistency and stability of reliability. Conclusion: This preliminary evaluation of the psychometric scale properties demonstrated an acceptable validity and reliability. The TCSE-scale is able to contribute to building up empirical and evidence based on data collection regarding the transcultural self-efficacy of clinical nurses. We suggest further testing of the applicability of TCSE-scale in different settings and community contexts.

An Analysis of the Competency Exam for College Education : Area of Science Inguiry (대학수학능력시험 실험 평가 문제의 분석 : 과학 탐구를 중심으로)

These tests were administered to 1,223 students of the general high school(422 for the 1st 400 for the 2nd, and 401 for the 3rd test). Also, those students' and the high school science teacher's opinions about the tests and the new college entrance exam were surveyed. The evaluation objectives of those test items were analyzed and the test item analyses were done. The results were as follows; (1) The evaluation objective analysis showed that most of the test items were constructed based on the evaluation framework which was composed of scientific inquiry thinking ability, science concept, and scientific inquiry context dimensions. But, those items were unevenly distributed into a few areas of the evaluation framework. (2) The boys had higher mean scores than the girls in all of the tests, but these differences were not statistically significant. The natural science course students had significantly higher mean than the humanities course students in all of the test:(1st, F=12.643, p=0.0004 ; 2nd, F=45.757, p=0.0001 ; 3rd, F=36.162, p=0.0001). A significant interaction of sex and course was found in only 1st test( F=11.352. p=0.0008). (3) Most students answered the test was difficult and they needed more time to finish it Also, they added they had to study in a different way from the traditional one in order to prepare the new college entrance exam. Science teachers answered that those evaluation objectives of the tests corresponded well with the educational objectives of high school science and that the tests were suitable as measuring instruments of the scientific thinking abilities. But they pointed out it would be very difficult for them to teach students for preparing the exam under the exsting educational conditions. To carry out successfully the competency exam for college education, the following improvements were suggested. (1) Good evaluation methodology should be developed. (2) In-service science teacher training models on evaluation should be put in force. (3) Effective teaching models and strategies should be developed.(4) The high school science curriculum should be revised.

Standardization for Analysis Method of Total Polyphenol in Complex of Picao Preto (피카오프레토 등 복합물 중 총 폴리페놀 분석법 표준화)

  • As generic health functional food items have been expanded, this research project has been conducted to prepare a scientific and systematic standardized analytical method of relevant food item and examine the suitability of the method for health/functional foods on sale. Total polyphenol was necessary for development and verification of standardized analytical method. The method exhibited high linearity in the tannic acid calibration curve ($r^2$ > 0.999) over concentrations of $5-50{\mu}g/mL$. The limits of detection and quantitation for tannic acid were $5{\mu}g/mL$ and $15{\mu}g/mL$, respectively, while tannic acid recovery was 102.3-112.4% with standard deviations of 0.8-3.2%. To verify the accuracy of the analytical method, the labeled amounts of purchased health functional foods were monitored. The recovery for tannic acid was 105.6% of the labeled amounts. Thus, the new method was suitable for all cases.

Development of MCDM for the Selection of Preferable Alternative and Determination of Investment Priority in Water Resource Projects (수자원사업 대안선정 및 투자우선순위결정을 위한 다기준의사결정모형 개발)

  • Water resource projects need an enormous national budget. Therefore, a reasonable and reliable decision making is required for the planning of water resource projects, but decision making has been mostly performed by economic analysis. The objective of this study is to develop a Multi-criteria Decision Making(MCDM) model which can assess the project in various aspects for the selection of preferable alternative and determination of investment priority in water resource projects. In this study, the criteria involves economic feasibility, policies, vulnerability, and sub-items which have weights obtained from the expert survey for the consistent evaluation. We also derived the utility function considering risk trend of each item based on the expert survey. Then, the total score was estimated by weights of each item and utility score of each attribute. The results show that vulnerability is a major contributor for the criteria. This study will contribute to the selection of proper water resource projects considering efficiency of project and fairness for vulnerable area.

Development and Validation of Self-Efficacy Scale for Self-Management of Breast Cancer (SESSM-B) (유방암 환자의 자가관리에 대한 자기효능감 측정도구 개발)

  • Purpose: This purpose of this study was to develop and validate a Self-Efficacy Scale for Self-Management of Breast Cancer (SESSM-B). Methods: The SESSM-B was developed and validated as follows: Item generation, pilot study, and tests of validity and reliability. Twenty-one items were developed through evaluation by 10 experts and 13 items were finally confirmed through item analysis and factor analysis. Psychometric testing was performed with a convenience sample of 303 women with breast cancer. Data were analyzed using factor analysis, Pearson correlation coefficients, and Cronbach's alpha. Results: Five factors evolved from the factor analysis, which explained 69.8% of the total variance. The first factor 'coping with psycho-informational demand' explained 17.2%, 2nd factor 'maintenance of healthy lifestyle' 14.5%. 3rd factor 'management of side-effects' 13.3%, 4th factor 'therapeutic compliance' 12.8%, and 5th factor 'sexual life' 11.9%. SESSM-B also demonstrated a concurrent validity with health-related quality of life scale, EORTC QLQ-C30 & BR23. The internal consistency, Cronbach's alpha, was .78, and reliability of the subscales ranged from .61 to .79. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that the SESSM-B is an easy, reliable, and valid instrument to measure self-efficacy for self-management of breast cancer.

  • Peer-to-peer (P2P) systems have become a popular medium through which to share huge amounts of data. On the basis of network topology, P2P systems are divided into three types: centralized, structured distribution, unstructured distribution. Unstructured P2P systems such as Gnutella are novel in the sense that they are extensible and reliable. However, as the number of nodes increases, unstructured P2P systems would suffer from the high complexity of search operations that have to scan the network to find the required data items. Efficient replication of data items can reduce the complexity, but it introduces another problem of maintaining consistency among replicated data items when each data item could be updated. In this paper, we propose a new update propagation algorithm that propagates an updated data item to all of its replica. The proposed algorithm can reduce the message transfer overhead by adopting the notion of timestamp and hybrid push/pull messaging.

Force limited vibration testing: an evaluation of the computation of C2 for real load and probabilistic source

  • To prevent over-testing of the test-item during random vibration testing Scharton proposed and discussed the force limited random vibration testing (FLVT) in a number of publications. Besides the random vibration specification, the total mass and the turn-over frequency of the load (test item), $C^2$ is a very important parameter for FLVT. A number of computational methods to estimate $C^2$ are described in the literature, i.e., the simple and the complex two degrees of freedom system, STDFS and CTDFS, respectively. The motivation of this work is to evaluate the method for the computation of a realistic value of $C^2$ to perform a representative random vibration test based on force limitation, when the adjacent structure (source) description is more or less unknown. Marchand discussed the formal description of getting $C^2$, using the maximum PSD of the acceleration and maximum PSD of the force, both at the interface between load and source. Stevens presented the coupled systems modal approach (CSMA), where simplified asparagus patch models (parallel-oscillator representation) of load and source are connected, consisting of modal effective masses and the spring stiffness's associated with the natural frequencies. When the random acceleration vibration specification is given the CSMA method is suitable to compute the value of the parameter $C^2$. When no mathematical model of the source can be made available, estimations of the value $C^2$ can be find in literature. In this paper a probabilistic mathematical representation of the unknown source is proposed, such that the asparagus patch model of the source can be approximated. The chosen probabilistic design parameters have a uniform distribution. The computation of the value $C^2$ can be done in conjunction with the CSMA method, knowing the apparent mass of the load and the random acceleration specification at the interface between load and source, respectively. Data of two cases available from literature have been analyzed and discussed to get more knowledge about the applicability of the probabilistic method.
