Several instances of synergistic interaction have been identified between alkyl amine oxide and long chain fatty acohol polyethoxylates in various surfactant formulation. The purpose of this study was examined whether these benefits could be observed within the framework of generic hand-surface cleaning formulations. Comparative evaluation were also carried out to determine the performance characteristics of low-and zero-phosphate systems in which amine oxide and alcohol ethoxylates are used. Best cleaning was observed with 1:1 mixtures of the subject surfactants, but substantial improvements over fatty alcohol ethoxylate alone also were noted with formulations that contained lower ratios of amine oxide.
A zwitterionic surfactant shows not only detergency but also softening effect since it shows characteristics of a nonionic or an anionic surfactant above an isoelectric point, while showing characteristics of a cationic surfactant below an isoelectric point. Therefore, a zwitterionic surfactant can serve as a dual function surfactant by a single molecule through the interconversion of cleaning and softening effects depending on pH of the aqueous solution. In this study, the dual function characteristics of an amine oxide zwitterionic surfactant were investigated by measuring the zeta potential and the isoelectric point using quartz crystal microbalance (QCM). In addition, the physical properties of an amine oxide surfactant such as critical micelle concentration, surface tension, interfacial tension, contact angle and viscosity were measured and phase behavior study was also performed. The isoelectric point of an amine oxide surfactant determined by zeta potential measurement was near 7.35 and that obtained by QCM experiment was about 7.4, where both results were found to be close to the value reported in the literature.
Fullerene oxides were synthesized by fullerene ($C_{70}$) and several amine N-oxides such as 3-picoline N-oxide, pyridine N-oxide hydrate, quinoline N-oxide, and isoquinoline N-oxide under ultrasonic condition at $25{\sim}43^{\circ}C$. The reactivity of fullerene ($C_{70}$) with various amine N-oxides undo, ultrasonic irradiation showed the same in all of the proceeding experiments; 3-picoline N-oxide : pyridine N-oxide hydrate : quinoline N-oxide : isoquinoline N-oxide. The MALDI-TOF MS, UV-vis spectrophotometer and HPLC analysis confirmed that the products of fullerene oxidation are [$C_{70}(O)n$] (n=1).

One of the most important parameters required to model the absorption of CO2 into aqueous alkanolamine solutions is physical solubility. However, since CO2 reacts in amine solutions, its physical solubility cannot be measured directly. As a result, a nonreacting gas which is similar to CO2 has to be used such as N2O. The solubility of nitrous oxide (N2O) in aqueous solutions of 0wt%-50wt% MDEA, 0wt%-30wt% DEA, and 50wt % total amine with DEA/MDEA molar ratios of 0.05, 0.25, 0.5 and 0.67 was measured using a modified Zipperclave reactor over a temperature range of 293-353 K with near atmospheric partial pressures of N2O. the solubility data from this work were K with near atmospheric partial pressures of N2O. The solubility data from this work were found to be in good agreement with previously reported data where available.
In this study, a synthetic amine made using the ethylene oxide-ammonia reaction was used as an absorbent to remove carbon dioxide. Existing absorbents were used in a mix in order to improve performance; however, because the ethylene oxide-ammonia reaction generates primary, secondary, and tertiary amines simultaneously, it has the merit that separate mixing of the absorbents was not needed. The performance of carbon dioxide absorption with the synthetic amine was compared to that of MEA. As a result of an experiment, it was determined that the $CO_2$ loading was 1.15 times better than that of MEA (a commonly used amine), while the cyclic capacity was 2.28 times higher. Because the heat of reaction was 1.10 times lower than for MEA, the synthetic amine showed superior performance in terms of absorption and regeneration.
In this study, zwitterionic surfactants were added to liposome systems at different pH conditions to understand the effect of surfactants on liposome characteristics. For this purpose, amine oxide surfactants having different hydrocarbon chain lengths were synthesized and the structure of the resulting product was elucidated by using $^1H$ NMR, $^{13}C$ NMR, and FT-IR. In addition, the physical properties of newly synthesized surfactants such as critical micelle concentration (CMC), surface tension and isoelectric point were measured. The stability characteristics of liposome systems including average particle sizes and zeta potentials were measured by varying pH and hydrocarbon chain lengths of an amine oxide surfactant. Effects of the pH and hydrocarbon chain length of an amine oxide surfactant on fluidity of a liposome membrane were also examined by measuring the deformability and the binding degree between the surfactant and liposome.
With the copper interconnection in the semiconductor process, complex residues including copper oxide, fluoride, and polymeric fluorocarbon are formed by plasma etching. In this study, a cleaning solution was prepared with a component having an amine group (-NH2) and a carboxyl group (-COOH), and the characteristics of removing post-etch residues in the copper wiring process were analyzed. In the cleaning solution containing an amine group, the length of the component substituted with nitrogen and the length of the carbon chain influenced the cleaning effect, and the etching rate of copper oxide increased as the pH of the cleaning solution increased. The activity of the amine group is in the basic region, and the activity of the carboxyl group is in the acidic region, and the cleaning process proceeds through complex formation with copper or copper oxide in each region.

Development of simple and efficient method for large-scale production of mechanically strong and electrically conductive graphene fiber is highly desirable for practical applications, such as fiber-reinforced composites, wearable electronics, and electromagnetic irradiation shielding. Here, we present a facile approach for the preparation of amine-functionalized graphene fibers by simple wet-spinning of diamine-functionalized graphene oxide (GO-$NH_2$), which is used because of its synthetic convenience, good dispersity, and scalable production with low cost. The amine-functionalized graphene fiber shows high electrical and mechanical properties compared to pristine graphene oxide fiber due to the electrostatic interaction between amine groups and electronegative functional groups of graphene oxide.

Thermal amine scrubbing is the most advanced CO2 capture technique but its largescale application is hindered due to the large heat requirement during solvent regeneration step. The addition of a solid metal oxide catalysts can optimize the CO2 desorption rate and thus minimize the energy consumption. Herein, we evaluate the solvent regeneration performance of Monoethanolamine (MEA) and Diethanolamine (DEA) solvents without and with two metal oxide catalysts (TiO2 and V2O5) within a temperature range of 40-86℃. The solvent regeneration performance was evaluated in terms of CO2 desorption rate and overall amount of CO2 desorbed during the experiments. Both catalysts improved the solvent regeneration performance by desorbing greater amounts of CO2 with higher CO2 desorption rates at low temperature. Improvements of 86% and 50% in the CO2 desorption rate were made by the catalysts for MEA and DEA solvents, respectively. The total amount of the desorbed CO2 also improved by 17% and 13% from MEA and DEA solvents, respectively. The metal oxide catalyst-aided regeneration of amine solutions can be a new approach to minimize the heat requirement during solvent regeneration and thus can remove a primary shortfall of this technology.
We have developed an electrochemical immunosensor that combines the electrocatalytic property of carbon nanotube and the low background current of indium tin oxide (ITO) electrode. A partial monolayer of carboxylated single-walled carbon nanotube (CCNT) is covalently formed on an ITO electrode modified with amine-terminated phosphonic acid. Nonspecifically adsorbed avidin on the hydrophobic sidewalls of CCNT is used to immobilize biotinylated antibody and to reduce the nonspecific binding to CCNT. The biotinylated antimouse IgG bound on avidin and the antimouse IgG conjugated with alkaline phosphatase (ALP) sandwiches a target mouse IgG. ALP catalyzes the conversion of p-aminophenyl phosphate monohydrate into p-aminophenol, which is electrocatalytically oxidized to p-quinone imine on CCNT surface. Moderate electrocatalytic electrode obtained with the combination of CCNT and ITO allows low detection limit (0.1 ng/ mL).
