This paper presents a formula that relates the optimal exercise boundaries of American call and put options on futures contract. It is shown that the geometric mean of the optimal exercise boundaries for call and put written on the same futures contract with the same exercise price is equal to the exercise price which is time invariant. The paper also investigates the properties of American calls and puts on futures contract.

Given that American English and British English show differences for several vowels and that Korean students have mainly been exposed to American English, this study examined 27 Korean university students' identification of American and British English vowels. The results showed that Korean students' identification accuracy of American English vowels was higher (64.7%) than that of British English (54.7%), thus indicating that Korean students' familiarity with American English affected the students' identification of English vowels. However, vowel variation also affected students' identification of English vowels in that only the American English vowels in the words beat, bat, but, burt, bart, bite were better identified than the corresponding vowels in British English. Among the vowels which exhibit differences between American English and British English, the students' identification accuracy of the American English vowels in burt, bart, bat was significantly higher than that of British English and the error patterns for these vowels were also different. The analysis of vowel error patterns indicated that Korean students had much difficulty with non-rhotic vowels and [a] in bat in British English. Further, the vowels in bot and boat demonstrated a similar [ɑ]-[ɔ]-[ʌ] confusion and also a confusion between rounded vowels in spite of the differences of these vowels between American English and British English. Some pedagogical implications for teaching of English vowels were discussed based on the findings of the present study.

This case study examines the experiences of an African American student's successful second language acquisition in Korea. There is an increasing number of multicultural families in Korea; but few research on African American students' second language learning. In the past, some American researchers have analyzed African American students as academic underachievers for learning and there is a scarcity of research on African American students' successfully acquiring a second language. With this qualitative research design, the researchers interviewed, and observed an African American girl named Mary. The researchers also interviewed Mary's mother, teacher, and peers about Mary's Korean language development. The results of this study revealed Mary's determined efforts to become a fluent Korean speaker with support from family, community and friends. Mary underwent unique social and systematic supports for her language development. This paper concludes with the educational implication for multicultural language learners in Korea and the possibility to diminish the common stereotypes of African Americans as underachievers.

Graphic design plays an important role in contemporary culture. The chief social function of design is to create a visual identity. This essay focuses on the development of American graphic design and the embodiment of national identity in the twentieth century. The first chapter looks at the brief history of American graphic design. And the following chapter analyzes the example of those designers who have most obviously contributed to embodying identity in the United States. At the beginning of the twentieth century American modern design began with strong European roots. American designers added new forms and concepts to the tradition of graphic design. And their original approach to modern design gained international prominence. American design was pragmatic, intuitive, and more informal in its approach. The purpose of this essay is to inquire into the identity of American graphic design in a chronological survey.

This study deals with a research on Korean American economy and Korean banks operated in California where a large percentage of Korean residents in the U.S. is concentrated. Using date published by U.S. Census and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), quantitative analyses have been performed on the asset, employment, market share and other features of selected Korean American financial institutions. Also, each bank's status of financing and asset management are reviewed through the analysis of its balance sheets. The outcome of analysis on the status of Korean American banks are summarized as follows: First, Korean American banks are shown to be growing to become major banks with equivalent scale as mainstream banks. Second, the recently improved fundamentals of Korean American banks are identified. Third, the operational performances of Korean American banks are verified to be similar to the average of Californian banks.

We made Korean IAPS through measuring Korean university students' emotional response(arousal and emotional valence) about the whole 956 IAPS pictures made by Lang et al.(2005). In addition, we examined the emotional difference between American and Korean by comparing the response of original American IAPS and those of Korean IAPS. The results showed that both response of arousal and emotional valence in Korean were highly correlated with those in American respectively. In details, two groups showed differences as well as similarities. Korean showed higher arousal response than American, but in both groups women showed higher arousal response than men. When examining the emotional valence of positive, neutral, and negative stimuli categorized by American IAPS, Korean showed more modest emotional valence than American, and this group difference was the same in both men and women. In particular, Korean women showed more negative emotional valence than Korean men, but American women showed more extreme emotional valence than American men. These results suggest that there are some cultural and sex differences in the emotional response, and that researchers have to consider them when studying with IAPS stimuli.

The object of this study is to compare qualitative level of the Korean and American journal paper by faculty members in Korea. To achieve this object, the data was produced by the questionnaires from professors of the Chonbuk National University. The major conclusions are summarized as follows : 1. As a whole, American journal is evaluated better than Korean Journal. The greatest difference between Korean journal and American journal is that the American journal is more original and useful than Korean journal. 2. This study shows that American journal which deals with veterinary science is highly valuable and with living science is low. In Korean journal, the appropriateness of format is highly valuable. 3. The respondents who had studied in America for more than two years evaluate American Journal more excellent than those for less than two years. 4. Regardless of the periods of study in America, however, most of respondents evaluate American journal better than Korean Journal in all parts.

The purpose of this study was to compare clothing values and clothing purchasing behaviors between Korean and American college students, especially men. Also this study was to analyze the clothing values effect on the clothing purchasing behavior. For the practical study, 200 questionaries were surveyed, 110 from Korea and 105 from American. The average and frequency, t-test, $\chi^2$, multi-variate analysis of variance and factor analysis were used for this study. The result showed, first, there were little differences in the clothing value aspect. Both Korean college men and American college men considered the theoretical value to be most important, however, the American college men were higher than the Korean college men for theoretical, economic and political values. Compared to the Americans, the Koreans considered social clothing value to be more important but theoretical, economic and political values were less important. Second, there were some differences in most of all the clothing purchasing behaviors. There were slight differences in the reasons for the purchases between Korean and American college men. Both of them said that they purchase clothes to satisfy their needs. Regarding the information sources for the purchase, The Korean college men were slightly higher than the American college men for the media information sources and lower than them for the human information sources. Regarding the place where the clothes were purchased, the Korean college men preferred to make purchases at department stores, and the American college men preferred shopping malls. Regarding the monthly expenses for clothing, less than 50,000 won($50) was the average for most of the Korean women, but most of the American college women spent 100,000~150,000 won($150) per month. Third, the clothing value was different in the reason for purchasing, the purchasing information source, the purchasing place, and the monthly expenses for the clothing.
