비대칭압연에 의한 알루미늄합금판의 전단집합조직 형성 및 결정립 미세화 (The Shear Texture Development and The Grain Refinement in Aluminum Alloy Sheets by Asymmetric Rolling)

  • Asymmetric rolling of AA1050 Al alloy sheets was performed to obtain the shear textures for improving the deep drawability and the grain refinement. The effect of roll velocity ratio on the texture and the grain refinement of 50% asymmetrically rolled sheets was studied. The textures of the asymmetrically rolled sheets after annealing at 400$^{\circ}C$ for 1 h was also investigated.

  • This research team has developed single silk white bubble sheets to be used as surface sheath curing material for spring, summer, and autumn. But though its effects for spring and autumn temperature conditions have been proved, there haven't been any studies for summer temperature conditions. Therefore in this study, single silk white bubble sheets and single silk transparent bubble sheets as well as aluminum metalizing single silk bubble sheets have been applied to actual box-frame apartment slabs in construction, in order to compare temperature backgrounds of the concrete and other qualities. Upon application, the temperature of concrete cured in summer temperature conditions showed excellent scores, being the lowest for aluminum metalizing single silk white bubble sheets, then single silk transparent bubble sheets. But the aluminum metalizing single silk bubble sheet gave off a harmful glare, so for actual use, white single silk bubble sheets are recommended.

  • Resistance spot welding has been widely used in the sheet metal joining processes because of its high productivity and convenience. Recently, automobile industries are trying to replace partly steel sheets with aluminum alloy sheets. Among currently produced aluminum alloys, Al alloy sheets of Al-Mg-Si(6000 series) are being tested. Especially, 6000 series are the most probable substitute in view of strength and weldability. In this paper, an attempt was made to apply resistance spot welding to joining of dissimilar sheet metals (KS6383+SCPZn or KS6383+SHCP). An effort was made to balance heating rate in the Al alloy with that in the steel sheets by increasing electrode tip diameter. Although resistance spot welding of Al alloy sheet and sheet metals does not produce desirable nugget, it proved to have reasonable strength if optimal weld condition is found by tensile-shear strength and fatigue life test. Since spot weld joints in automobile are always experiencing repeated load, spot welding methodology proposed in this paper is found to be not suitable to automobile body manufacturing.

알루미늄5182/폴리프로필렌/알루미늄5182 샌드위치 판재의 톱니모양 거동 (Serration Behavior of AA5l82/Polypropylene/AA5182 Sandwich Sheets)

  • The AA5182/polypropylene/AA5182 (AA/PP/AA) sandwich sheets have been developed for the application for automotive body panels in the future light weight vehicles with significant weight reduction. It has been reported that the 5182 aluminum sheet shows Luders band because of dissolved Mg atoms that causes fabrication process problem, especially surface roughness. The examination of serration behavior has been made after the tensile deformation of the AA/PP/AA sandwich sheets as well as that of the 5182 aluminum skin at room and elevated temperatures. All sandwich sheets and the 5182 aluminum skin showed serration phenomena on their flow curves. However, the magnitude of the serration was significantly diminished in the sandwich sheet with the high volume fraction of the polypropylene core. According to the results of the surface roughness analysis after the tensile test, the sandwich sheet evidently showed lower Luders band depth than the 5182 aluminum skin. Strain rate sensitivity, m-value, of the 5182 aluminum skin was -0.006. By attaching this skin with polypropylene core which has relatively large positive value, 0.050, m-value of the sandwich sheets was changed to the positive value. The serration reduction of the sandwich sheets was quantitatively investigated in the point of the effect on the polypropylene core thickness variation, that on the strain rate sensitivity. It was found that the serration reduction degree from the experimental results of the sandwich sheet was higher than that from the calculated values by the rule of mixture based on volume fraction of the skins and the core.

  • Asymmetric rolling, in which the ratio of the rotation rates of the upper and lower rolls was 2, has been used to introduce an intense plastic shear strain for the purpose of grain refinement and developing shear deformation textures through the sheet thickness to improve the strength and plastic strain ratio of AA1050 aluminum alloy sheets. The alloy sheets were rolled at room temperature without lubrication. The textures and microstructures of the sheets were investigated by x-ray diffraction and electron back-scattered diffraction (EBSD) analyses with emphasis on effects of combinations of rot ling directions.

자동차 차체용 알루미늄 합금 판재의 기계적특성과 부식피로수명 (A mechanical proprties and fatigue life of aluminum alloy sheets for autobodies)

  • The objetive of this study is to compare the mechanical proprties of 6000 series Al-Mg-Si aluminum alloy (AC120) with 5000 series Al-Mg aluminum alloy (TG25), and to investigate the influence of corrosion solution for fatigue life. Comparing of TG25 and AC120 alloy sheets, TG25 alloy sheets showing higher plastic ratio and total elongation have better formability than AC120 alloy sheets. The hardness of nugget area was a little higher than that of base metal area. Also, grain coarsening was observed in HAZ(Heat Affected Zone). In a corrosion fatigue experiment, the fatigue life decreased as concentration increased, when a dipping time was constant. The life decreased as dippling time increased, when a concentration was constant.

Nugget Formation and Dynamic Resistance in Resistance Spot Welding of Aluminum to Steel

Driven by the need to reduce weight and fuel consumption, car companies have been evaluating aluminum intensive vehicles(AIVs) as a way to reduce vehicle weight without downsizing. During the transition from all steel-construction vehicle body to aluminum intensive body, joining aluminum to steel sheets emerges as a serious contender in automobile body. This paper deals with application of transition material to RSW aluminum to steel. Placing transition material insert between the aluminum/steel interface was found very effective to overcome physical incompatibility between aluminum and steel. Use of transition insert allows for two separate weld nuggets to be formed in their respective aluminum/aluminum and steel/steel interfaces. This RSW processes was monitored with the aid of dynamic resistance sampling. Typical patterns in sampled dynamic resistance curves indicated formation of sound nugget. The growth of two separate nuggets was examined by micro-cross section test.

Characterization of Graphene Sheets Formed by the Reaction of Carbon Monoxide with Aluminum Sulfide

  • Graphene sheets formed by the reaction of carbon monoxide (CO) with aluminum sulfide ($Al_2S_3$) at reaction temperatures ${\leq}$ 800 $^{\circ}$ were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). The graphene sheets, formed as CO was reduced to gaseous carbon by the reaction with $Al_2S_3$, in the temperature range 800 - 1100 $^{circ}C$, did not exhibit their characteristic XRD peaks because of the small number of graphene layers and/or low crystallinity of graphene sheets. Raman spectra of graphene sheets showed that the intensity ratio of the D band to the G band decreased and the 2D band was shifted to higher frequencies with increasing reaction temperature, indicating that the number of graphene layers increased with increasing reaction temperature.
