  • 필름 채색(Drawn-on-film) 애니메이션 기법은 어떠한 영상 콘텐츠 분야 속에서 주도적으로 이용되거나 주목 받지 못한 기법으로서 본 연구를 통해 과거 실험적 기법을 새롭게 발굴 모색하여 애니메이션 장르의 미래적 방향과 미학적 측면을 강화하고자 하는 의미가 있다. 연구의 내용은 연구자가 교육적 프로그램 개발을 위해 필름 채색(Drawn-on-film) 애니메이션 기법을 실제 교육현장에서 응용하고 학습에 활용하며 얻은 결과물과 경험적인 정보, 그리고 이를 통해 새롭게 창출된 기법 등을 체계화하여 소개했다. 이 과정에서 대안적 디지털 제작 시스템을 제안하여 제작 과정들을 비교 실연하였고 궁극적으로 애니메이션 장르의 기법 발전에 도움이 될 수 있도록 연구하고 제시했다.

Study on New Candidate Coating Materials to Challenge Rudder Cavitation Damage

  • Ships' hull is typically protected by a combination of protective coating system and electrical cathodic protection system, which has been an economical and effective measure for ship's hull to date. However, ships' rudder and adjacent hull areas are known to be subjected to premature corrosion damages, which require more frequent coating repair than other hull areas. Conventional organic coating system for ship's hull has been known only to remain intact just for 2~3 months on the rudder and adjacent area, especially for the fast-going ships such as container carriers or naval vessels. In this study, special organic/inorganic coating materials, which are commercially available, were tested in terms of cavitation resistance as an alternative to existing rudder & hull protection system. Both standard ultrasonic tester and in-house developed ultra water jet test method were employed as a means to evaluate their performance against cavitation induced damages. Additionally, the overall cost evaluation and workability at actual shipyard were discussed.

  • ACL and DCL are have been conventionally used for reducing harmonic current on the input side of an ACMD. The current distortion ratio ITHD using ACL and DCL is only 35% to 85%, therefore to satisfy the IEEE Std. 519 requirements, the line filters has been focused as an alternative means. Those are installed between the AC power supply and the input of the ACMD, and must meet the IEEE Std. 519, be economical and be compact. To contribute to the widespread of using these line filters, we discussed concerning its topologies, simulation results, prototype test results as well as the cost evaluations. It included not only the proposed (NHHF) new hybrid harmonic filters which have both merits of simplicity and economic but also the past (BBHF) broadband harmonic filters and (HHF) hybrid harmonic filters.

Amyloid Polymorphism of α-Synuclein Induced by Active Firefly Luciferase

  • Amyloidogenic proteins often exhibit fibrillar polymorphism through alternative assembly processes, which has been considered to have possible pathological implications. Here, firefly luciferase (LUC) is shown to induce amyloid polymorphism of ${\alpha}$-synuclein, the major constituent of Lewy bodies found in Parkinson's disease, by acting as a novel template. The drastically accelerated fibrillation kinetics of ${\alpha}$-synuclein with LUC required the nucleation center produced by the active enzyme of LUC. Fluorescent dye binding, transmission electron microscopy, and Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy revealed the morphologically distinctive amyloid fibrils of ${\alpha}$-synuclein prepared in the absence or presence of LUC. As the altered morphological characteristics became inherent to the mature fibrils, those properties were inherited to next-generations via nucleation-dependent fibrillation process. The seed control, therefore, would be an effective means to modify amyloid fibrils with different biochemical characteristics. In addition, the LUC-directed amyloid fibrillar polymorphism also suggests that other cellular biomolecules including enzymes in general are able to diversify amyloid fibrils, which could be self-propagated with diversified biological activities, if any, inside cells.

선박설계단계에서 손상안전성 평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Damage Safety Assessment in Ship Design Stage)

  • Recently ship safety regulations are being reinforced to improve maritime safety and to prevent maritime pollution by International Maritime Organization. It means that the regulation is becoming more proactive rather than reactive. In the mean time, design philosophy is also moving from rule based design to performance and simulation based design. In this paper, a study on practical application of the damage safety assessment system is carried out. The damage stability and the survivability of a cargo ship that was designed based on current regulation is investigated using performance based design tools in order to improve the safety of the design and verify the performance of the developed damage safety assessment system. To do this, damage scenarios is established and the characteristics and geometry the cargo ship is modeled. A new design alternative is proposed with small change in the internal arrangement based on safety evaluation results of the current design.

NFSC 103 스프링클러설비의 배관스케줄방식에 대한 제안 (A Proposal on the Pipe Schedule Sprinkler System of NFSC 103)

  • NFSC103의 배관스케줄방식으로 설계하는 경우, 작동면적 내의 헤드 약 50%가 최소요구량에 못미치는 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 NFSC103과 NFPA13의 배관스케줄방식을 비교, 분석하였으며 NFSC103의 유량부족 문제를 해결할 수 있는 새로운 방법을 제시하였다. 각 헤드에서의 소화수방출량을 기존의 80 L/min의 150%인 120 L/min으로 하면 수리계산한 값을 상회하여 모든 헤드에서 최소기준값인 1 bar, 80 L/min을 충족하게 된다. 이는 누구나 쉽게 배관스케줄방식으로 설계할 수 있으며 설계면적 내의 모든 헤드가 최소요구량을 충족하는 최적의 방법이다.

  • 지방자치제 실시 이후 관광산업은 지역 활성화를 위한 분야로서 인식되고 있다. 이러한 상황에서 관광산업 내 새로운 대안으로서 최근 관심을 모으고 있는 분야는 의료산업과 연계한 관광 개발이다. 본 연구는 제주지역의 의료관광을 전략산업으로 추진하기 위하여 국내 외 사례들을 조사하고, 제주 관광객을 대상으로 설문을 통해 의료관광에 대한 기초 조사 연구를 실시하였다. 또한 전문가의 의견 수집을 통해 가장 적합한 제주형 의료관광의 추진모델을 수립하였다.

Quorum quenching for effective control of biofouling in membrane bioreactor: A comprehensive review of approaches, applications, and challenges

  • In comparison to alternative advanced wastewater treatment technologies, the main problem associated with membrane bioreactor (MBR) technology, which has become prominent in recent years, is biofouling. Within these systems, biofouling is typically the result of a biofilm layer resulting from bacterial gathering. One biological system that can be employed to interrupt the process of bacterial gathering is called 'Quorum Quenching (QQ)'. Existing QQ applications can be classified using three main types: 1) bacterial/whole-cell applications, 2) direct enzyme applications, and 3) natural sourced compounds. The most common and widely recognized applications for membrane fouling control during MBR operation are bacterial and direct enzyme applications. The purpose of this review was to identify and assess biofilm formation mechanism and results, the suggestion of the QQ concept and its potential to control biofilm formation, and the means by which these QQ applications can be applied within the MBR and present QQ MBR studies.

  • The rectilinear-distance location problem combines the property of being a very appropriate distance measure for a large number of location problems and the property of being very simple to treat analytically. An obvious question to be asked at the optimal point which is obtained by the rectilinear distance method is, "what if the point is not available as a location site\ulcorner." The point may, for example, be inaccessible or may coincide with the location of another structure, a river, or a municipal park. In this case, one approach that may be employed is to construct contour lines (also called iso-cost or level curves) of the cost function. Contour lines provide considerable insight into the shape of the surface of the total cost function as well as a useful means of evaluating alternative locations for the new facility. But, when there is an obstacle which divides the application area into two. The optimal location(which is acquired by the rectilinear distance method) is not coincide with the minimal cost point and the contour line is occasionally of no use, this paper shows the method of finding a way to decide an optimal point of single facility location in this case.this case.

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of SaSang constitutional diet for essential hypertension on blood pressure, fat, and serum lipid on the subjects with aerobic exercise and low salt diet at the same time. Method: A non-equivalent control group time-series design was used. For the experimental group, aerobic exercise and SaSang constitutional diet were taught by researcher at health center. Test for hypothesis was done by repeated measured ANOVA. Result: There was significant decrease in systolic, diastolic, and MAP between the experimental group and control group over three different times. There was significant decrease in body weight, BMI, and body composition over three different times. But, there was no significant difference between groups and interaction by groups or over time. There was significant decrease in T/G and cholesterol over three different times. But, there was no significant difference in T/G, HDL, LDL, and total cholesterol between groups and interaction by groups or over time. Conclusion: Findings indicate that this study will contribute to develop nursing strategies for the regulation of the blood pressure as a means of alternative- complementary nursing intervention.
