In this article, a novel annealing technique using alternating magnetic field (AMF) is adopted to improve the electrical characteristics of pentacene film, thereby enhancing the performance of pentacene-based organic thin film transistors (OTFTs). According to the investigation results, the electrical conductivity in the pentacene film could be increased from 0.32 to 1.18 S/cm by annealing the pentacene film using AMF. And also, OTFTs with the pentacene film annealed by AMF exhibited an improved performance compared to the device without annealing. These results suggest that an annealing using AMF can be an effective method to improve the performance of devices based on organic semiconductors.
Radioactive Corrosion Products (CRUD) which are generated by the neutron activation of general corrosion products at the nuclear power plant are the major source of occupational radiation exposure. Most of the CRUD has a characteristic of showing strong ferrimagnetisms. Along with the new development and production of permanent magnet (rare earth magnet) which generates much stronger magnetic field than the conventional magnet, new type of magnetic filter that can separate CRUD efficiently and eventually reduce radiation exposure of personnel at nuclear power plant is suggested. This separator consists of inner and outer magnet assemblies, coolant channel and container surrounding the outer magnet assembly. The rotational motion of the inner and outer permanent magnet assemblies surrounding the coolant channel by driving motor system produces moving alternating magnetic fields in the coolant channel. The CRUD can be separated from the coolant by the moving alternating magnetic field. This study describes the results of preliminary experiment performed with the different flow rates of coolant and rotation velocities of magnet assemblies. This new magnetic filter shows better performance results of filtering the magnetite at coolant (water). How rates, rotating velocities of magnet assemblies and particle sizes turn out to be very important design parameters.
We have developed an alternating magnetic field stimulation system consisting of a switched-mode power supply and a digital control circuit which modulates a duty ratio to maintain a magnetic field intensity of a few mT even while the frequency increases up to 4 kHz with a controllable coil temperature below $30^{\circ}C$ in air. This duty ratio modulation and water circulation are advantageous for cell culture under ac-magnetic field stimulation by preventing the incubator from exceeding a cell-viable temperature of $37^{\circ}C$. Although the temperature of the coil when subjected to a sinusoidal voltage rapidly increased, that of our system modulated by the duty factor did not change. This is a potentially valuable method to investigate the effects of intermediate frequency magnetic field stimulation on biological entities such as cells, tissues and organs.
For the discussion of palaeogeomagnetic field direction and the movement and rotation of geotectonic blocks it is prerequisite to eliminate the secondary remanent magnetization component out of the NRM vector of given rock samples. Among various techniques alternating field and thermal demagnetization methods are most easily applicable and most widely used ones. Physical principle underlying these methods is the concept of relaxation time: Either with an action of external magnetic field or with an elevated temperature relaxation time of magnetic minerals can be drastically shortened. It has been furthermore shown experimentally that the secondary remanent magnetization can be more easily demagnetized than the primary remanent magnetization. Through careful stepwise demagnetization it should also be possible to discriminate the kind of various remanent magnetizations. In addition to the introduction to the underlying physical principles and experimental results of the alternating field and thermal demagnetization this paper gives various practical tips in earring out the demagnetization experiments. Each alternating field and thermal demagnetization instrumentation which is easily adaptable to domestic palaeomagnetic laboratories is also introduced. This paper provides a compact and practical introduction to the methods in palaeomagnetism and would be of interest to present workers and to those who want to embark on research in this field.
To solve alternating magnetic field problems, the program TDEDDY is developed with the use of the finite element method. Triangular finite elements of the first order are employed for the discretization of the field region. This program is constructed through an interactive system to check errors immediately when every routine is executed, and several subprograms are employed for the graphic representation of computed results. As an example, it is applied to a model of semi-infinite slab excited by an alternating current source. Results by the program TDEDDY show the satisfactory accuracy in comparision with those of analytic calculations.
To evaluate the biohazard properties of an extremely low frequency electromagnetic field (ELF-EMF), we explored the physical properties of the ELF-EMF that generates the electric current induction in the secondary coil from the chamber of a primary solenoid coil. We subsequently explored the biological effects of a strong alternating electromagnetic field (EMF), ranging from 730-960 Gauss, on the mouse testis. Mice were exposed to an alternating EMF field induced by a rectangular electric current at 1, 7, 20, 40, and 80 Hertz, for 1, 3, 5, and 7 hours. The mouse testes were examined for proliferative activity and apoptosis using the in situ terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase (TdT) method and by immunostaining of proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA), respectively. We found that the electric currentm induction increased in the 6-8 Hertz range, and that exposure to an ELF-EMF induced the apoptosis of mouse spermatocytes. In situ TdT staining was found to be most prominent in 7 Hertz group, and gradually reduced in the 20, 40, and 80 Hertz groups. These data suggest that a strong EMF can induce reproductive cell death within a short time, and the harmful effects of the EMF are maximal at low frequency alternating EMFs.

A numerical study has been carried out on the evolution of the particle size distribution for unipolar charged particles that experience coagulation in an alternating electric field. The collision frequency function of charged particles was analytically derived. The log-normal size distribution function is utilized for representing a poly-disperse size distribution and the moments of the particle size distribution are used to solve the general dynamic equation considering only AC electric force effect. The results are compared with the effects of brownian coagulation.
This paper proposed a new magnetic field detection algorithm to detect metal pieces in food producing processes. This algorithm can detect mixed metal pieces by sensing magnetic field. Some metal pieces are passed through an over-current circuit to magnetize them. The magnetic field sensor can detect the change in the magnetic field on theconveyor belt caused by the flow of the metal pieces in the food product. However, such a method detects the output of signals that change their amplitude and phase according to the movement of the conveyor belt with the food product, in which the equilibrium of the positive signal that is created in the receiver coil loses its balance due to the magnetized material. This includes not only the signal elements resulting from the effect of the alternating magnetic fields of the mixed metals, but also the signal elements resulting from the effect of the alternating magnetic fields of the examined object itself.

Recently, for the purpose of preventing the corrosion of a vessel, the electrical corrosion protection device that prevents the corrosions of the hull and the propeller is widely used. However, the electrical corrosion protection method artificially emits the current into the seawater around the hull using the power supply in order to make the hull and propeller be in the state of not being corrosion, so that electromagnetic field is generated outside the hull by the current emitted into the seawater. In this paper, the static and alternating constituents of the electromagnetic field generated in underwater outside the hull are analyzed and a countermeasure is investigated to reduce the strength of the electromagnetic field. In conventional shaft grounding system, the shaft potential is maintained above at least 100mV and the alternating current component constitutes more than 10% of the total current. However, in this paper, a control system was designed in order that the alternating current component and the shaft potential which generate electromagnetic field are maintained within 1% and 2mV respectively, and the performance was verified by simulation.

Recently, several vector hysteresis models such as vector Preisach, vector Jiles-Atherton and dynamic E&S model have been proposed to describe vector magnetic properties of electrical steel sheets. However, it is still difficult to find an adequate vector hysteresis model in finite element application for both the Non-oriented and Grain-oriented electrical steel sheets under alternating and rotating field conditions. In this paper, an improved E&S vector hysteresis model is suggested to describe the vector magnetic properties of both Non-oriented and Grain-oriented electrical steel sheets under various magnetic field conditions including alternating and rotating magnetic field conditions. The validity of the proposed model is tested through comparisons with the experimental results under various magnetic field conditions.
