To characterize humus fractions in soil, visible, ultraviolet and infrared absorption spectra of humic acids in alkaline solutions and hymatomelanic acids in ethanol solutions extracted by Stevenson's method from paddy rice soils, peats, and volcanic ash soils were analyzed. The spectra patterns of both fractions in visible and ultraviolet ranges did not have any peak and the absorbance decreased as the wavelength increased. Visible and ultraviolet spectra of the solutions from all the peats, volcanic ash soils and paddy rice soil were very similar each other but absorbances were slowly declined in the order of volcanic ash soils, peats and mineral paddy soils. The infrared spectra of the two solutions appeared in a typical pattern, showing a few broad peaks. The main absorption bands were in the regions of $3400cm^{-1}$ (hydrogen bonded OH), near $2900cm^{-1}$ (aliphatic CH), $1720cm^{-1}$ (C=O of COOH, C=O of carbonyl), $1625cm^{-1}$ (aromatic C-C conjugated with C=O and/or COO-), $1400-1450cm^{-1}$ (CH stretch), $1200-1250cm^{-1}$ (CaO stretch of phenolic OH or OH-deformation of COOH) and $1050cm^{-1}$. The hymatomelanic acid fractions, however, had spectra that were characterized especially by very distinct absorption at $2900cm^{-1}$ and $1720cm^{-1}$, for aliphatic CH and carbonyl stretching vibration respectively in addition to the weaker bands for COO- or aromatic CH vibration at $1625cm^{-1}$, as compared to humic acid. No differences were noted in the general patterns of the spectograms of both fractions extracted. Analyses of the functional groups revealed little differences between peats and paddy soils, although total acidity and the content of carboxyl groups were decreased in the order of volcanic ash soils, peats and mineral paddy soils.

Enterococcus is a normal inhabitant of the human oral cavity, the vagina, and the gastrointestinal tract. Four isolates of Enterococcus in this study were identified as E. durans. These bacteria were characterized and the interaction of these bacteria with the important oral bacteria as like S. mutans and S. oralis was studied as follows. 1. The carbohydrate fermentation test and biochemical test showed similar results in 4 isolates. 2. The susceptibility test against erythromycin, penicillin, tobramycin, ampicillin, teicoplanin, ciprofloxacin, vancomycin, gentamicin, kanamycin, and streptomycin showed to be susceptible in all four isolates. 3. The optical density of absorbance at 550 nm was 1.405 in the culture of S. mutans in disposable cuvette, whereas being 0.855, 0.867, 0.797, and 1.083 in the combined culture of S. mutans and each E. durans. 4. The mean weight of produced artificial plaque on the wires in the beaker was $1566{\pm}103mg$ in culture of S. mutans only, whereas being reduced to $44{\pm}5mg,\;41{\pm}12mg,\;34{\pm}7mg,\;and\;38{\pm}12mg$ in the combined culture of S. mutans and each E. durans. The viable cells were $2.0\times10^9$ per ml in the culture of S. mutans wheras being $2.0\times10^7\;to\;6.0\times10^7$ per ml in the combined culture S. mutans and E. durans. 5. The viable cells were $2.1\times10^8$ per ml in the culture of S. oralis, wheras being $1.4\times10^7\;to\;7.0\times10^7$ per ml in the combined culture of S. oralis and E. durans. 6. Plasmid of about 60 kb was isolated in three isolates of E. durans. These results suggested that E. durans isolated from the oral cavity inhibited the replication of S. mutans and formation of artificial plaque, while inhibiting the replication of S. oralis a little.

The aims of this study were to investigate some macrominerals (Na, Ca, P, K, Mg) in 207 beverages, 19 liquid teas, and 24 liquid coffees. The samples were digested by microwave and determinations of macrominerals were carried out by an Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometer (ICP-OES). The elements, listed in order of mean value of macromineral content, were potassium $208.4{\pm}298.2mg/L$ ($72.2{\pm}169.8mg/container$)> calcium $89.0{\pm}161.0mg/L$ ($26.0{\pm}57.7mg/container$)> sodium $71.2{\pm}75.0mg/L$ ($20.9{\pm}27.9mg/container$)> phosphorus $55.6{\pm}91.9mg/L$ ($17.9{\pm}33.8mg/container$)> magnesium $6.1{\pm}18.4mg/L$ ($2.4{\pm}10.1mg/container$). All 250 samples contained sodium and potassium, and the detection rate of calcium, phosphorus and magnesium was 88.4%, 93.2%, and 20.4%. The mean ratio of phosphorus to calcium in beverages, liquid teas, and liquid coffees was $4.2{\pm}16.0$ (ND~164.4), and sports drinks showed the highest mean ratio ($48.5{\pm}75.6$) significantly (p<0.05). In case of sodium, detected content exceeding labeling regulations (less then 120%) was observed in 12 samples (5.5%).

This study has attempted to facilitate various new technologies related to indoor containers and develop a desirable planting environment after investigating the growth (including root growth) of shade-tolerant landscape plants under slit processing, a natural indoor ventilation system. The following results were found: In terms of the shoot growth of Fatsia japonica in a slit container, no distinctive difference was observed in comparison with the control group. However, growth was good when the container 250mm tall or taller. Therefore, it was verified that optical soil depth is more important than slit processing in shoot growth of Fatsia japonica. In Fatsia japonica root length was observed as follows: Control 2(250mm) > Slit 2(250mm) > Control 1(195mm) > Slit 3(360mm) > Control 3(360mm) > Slit 1(195mm). The largest growth was observed in Control 2(250mm), which had no slit processing. In term of root width, this was lower than the initial value in all groups, which means that the root grew vertically, not horizontally. In terms of plant height of Ophiopogon japonicus, a gradual increase was observed in the control group that had no slit processing. No significant growth was detected in the slit system, however. In terms of shoot number, slit containers were generally higher than the control group. In terms of fresh and dry weights, on the contrary, slit containers were mostly lower than the control group. In Ophiopogon japonicus, root length was observed as follows: Slit 2(250mm) > Slit 1(195mm) > Control 2(250mm) > Control 3(360mm) > Slit 3(360mm) > Control 1(195mm). In Ardisia japonica, slit containers were mostly greater than control group in terms of plant height. The greatest plant height was observed at Slit 2(250mm) instead of Slit 1(195mm) and Slit 3(360mm). Except for plant height and shoot number, however, no significant shoot and root growth was observed. Root length was observed as follows: Slit 2(250mm) > Slit 3(360mm) > Control 3(360mm) > Slit 1(195mm) > Control 2(250mm) > Control 1(195mm). Therefore, root length in slit containers was mostly greater than in the control group. The width of root, however, declined in general.

A total of 101 samples of convenience baby food products were analyzed by microwave digestion and mineral nutrients (iron, zinc, calcium, magnesium) were determined by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES). By type, the samples included 44 rice porridges, 40 soft-boiled rices, 11 purees, and 6 powders. The mean values for iron (Fe) content were 0.05 to 0.45 mg/100 g (excepted powder type, mg/l0 g). This was equivalent to 22.35% for rice porridge, 10.55% for soft-boiled rice, 9.88% for puree and 2.74% for powder type compared to the KDRIs (Dietary Reference Intakes for Koreans), respectively. The mean values for zinc (Zn) was 0.06 to 0.28 mg/100 g (excepted powder type, mg/l0 g) and the KDRI ratio was the lowest at 5.94% in puree, with 27.76%, 28.95% and 10.91% in rice porridge, soft-boiled rice and powder type, respectively. Calcium (Ca) content relative to KDRIs was relatively low compared to other minerals, with 6.65% for rice porridge, 3.61% for soft-boiled rice, 6.24% for puree and 3.07% for powder type, respectively. The magnesium (Mg) content of baby food ranged from 13.4% to 39.0% compared to KDRIs, and was included in all baby food as a whole. For balanced nutritional mineral supply to infants, it is recommended that information on mineral sources and ingredients in convenience baby food be clearly provided to ensure proper growth and development.
The effects of light quality and irradiance on the growth of centric diatom, Skeletonema costatum (Jinhae Bay strain) were investigated in the laboratory. At 20$^{\circ}C$ and 30 psu, the irradiance-growth curve showed the maximum growth rate of 1.17 day$^{-1}$ with half-saturation photon flux density (PFD) (K$_s$) of 92.4 $\mu$mol photons $m^{-2}s^{-1}$, $\mu$=1.17 (I-5.28)/(I+81.8), (r=0.98), and a compensation PFD (I$_0$) was 5.28 $\mu$mol photons $m^{-2}s^{-1}$. The 10 equated to a depth of 3$\sim$5 m from March to May, 11 m in June and 4 m from July to September in Jinhae Bay. These responses suggested that irradiance at the depth near the surface layer in Jinhae Bay would provide favorable conditions for S. costatum. To assess the effects of light (i.e. wavelengths) on the growth, nine wave-lengths were used ranging from near ultraviolet to near-infrared supplied by light emitting diode. At an irradiance level of 25 $\mu$mol photons $m^{-2}s^{-1}$, S. costatum grew under wavelengths of 405, 470, 505, 525, 568 and 644 nm, but did not grow at 590 and 623 nm; whereas S. costatum grew at all wavelengths at 100 $\mu$mol photons $m^{-2}s^{-1}$. This implies that S. costatum is likely to grow well in enclosed water bodies where suspended particles absorbs most of the blue wavelengths, and dominated by yellow-orange wavelengths.
The growth of Lactobacillus bulgaricus treated with vanillin, ortho-vanillin and guaiaco1 was studied on synthetic medium in mechanically agitated chemostat culture, The exponential-phase growth rate exhibited a maximum at the cells treated with 50 ppm vanillin. That stimulation, however, appears to be an effect on growth rate rather than total cell growth. And the others were inhibited by the chemicals. Much greater inhibition in growth of the cells treated with 100 ppm of each chemical than oars treated with 50 ppm was observed after 25 hour fomentation. For aerobic microbes, the alcohol dehydrogenase reaction is enhanced for the reproduction of NAD, which consequently cause to stimulate fermentation. For micro-aerophilic microbes , however, the same effect was not observed at the present study at least in the case of cell concentration. However except f or one treated with 50 ppm vanillin the same effect was observed in the case of growth is to. From the result using the glucose as a substrate, it was found that the cell concentrations measured in terms of ultimate optical density (UOB/ml), were 0.96 and 0.92, when treated with 50 and 100 ppm vanillin; 0.40 and 0.45 when treated with ortho-vanillin 50 and 100 ppm: 0.49 and 0.47, when treated with guaiacol 50 and 100 ppm. The specific growth rates were 0.44, 0.15, 0.25, 0.29, 0.37, and 0.34; the specific production rates wire 0.33, 0.15, 0.16, 0.22, 0.28, and 0.26 and the glucose concentrations (g/1) after 25 hour fermentation were 23.5, 32.8, 31.5, 29.5, 28.0 and 28.8, these all in the same sequences as the first.

Ad-Hoc network is a network architecture which has no backbone network and is deployed temporarily and rapidly in emergency or war without fixed mobile infrastructures. All communications between network entities are carried in ad-hoc networks over the wireless medium. Due to the radio communications being extremely vulnerable to propagation impairments, connectivity between network nodes is not guaranteed. Therefore, many new algorithms have been studied recently. This study proposes the secondary header approach to the cluster based routing protocol (CBRP). The primary header becomes abnormal status so that the primary header can not participate in the communications between network entities, the secondary header immediately replaces the primary header without selecting process of the new primary header. This improves the routing interruption problem that occurs when a header is moving out from a cluster or in the abnormal status. The performances of proposed algorithm ACBRP(Advanced Cluster Based Routing Protocol) are compared with CBRP. The cost of the primary header reelection of ACBRP is simulated. And results are presented in order to show the effectiveness of the algorithm.

This study described about method that forms liquid crystal gel (LCG) by main ingredient with hydrogenated lechin (HL) in O/W emulsion system. Result of stability test is as following with most suitable LCG's composition. Composition of LCG is as following, to form liquid crystal, an emulsifier used 4.0wt% of cetostearyl alcohol (CA) by 4.0wt% of HL as a booster. Moisturizers contained 2wt% of glycerin and 3.0wt% of 1,3-butylene glycol (1,3-BG). Suitable emollients used 3.0wt% of cyclomethicone, 3.0wt% of isononyl isononanoate (ININ), 3.0wt% of cerpric/carprylic triglycerides (CCTG), 3.0wt% of macademia nut oil (MNO) in liquid crystal gel formation. On optimum conditions of LCG formation, the pHs were formed all well under acidity or alkalinity conditions (pH=4.0-11.0). Considering safety of skin, pH was the most suitable 6.0${\pm}$1.0 ranges. The stable hardness of LCG formation appeared best in 32 dyne/$\textrm{cm}^2$. Particle of LCG is forming size of 1-20$\mu\textrm{m}$ range, and confirmed that the most excellent LCG is formed in 1-6$\mu\textrm{m}$ range. According to result that observe shape of LCG with optical or polarization microscope, LCG could was formed, and confirmed that is forming multi -layer lamellar type structure around the LCG. Moisturizing effect measured clinical test about 20 volunteers. As a result, moisturizing effect of LCG compares to placebo cream was increased 36.6%. This could predicted that polyol group is appeared the actual state because is adsorbed much to round liquid crystal droplets to multi-lamellar layer's hydrophilic group. It could predicted that polyol group is vast quantity present phase that appear mixed because is adsorbed to round liquid crystal to multi-lamellar layer's hydrophilic group. This LCG formation theory may contribute greatly in cosmetics and pharmacy industry development.
