  • This paper proposed new techniques of rotor position detection for 8/6 pole Switched Reluctance Motor(SRM). This technique is very simple and easy to find out rotor position. The main idea uses the impulse responses which have different values between aligned and unaligned rotor position. In order to obtain the informations of the rotor position, the impulse applied to the unenergized phases and their responses are analyzed to control the speed of SRM without shaft sensor. Experimental results verify the feasibility of the proposed method.

  • In this study, we describe a simple selective etching method that produces noncurling, freestanding, large-area, aligned $TiO_2$ nanotube (NT) with doubly ends opened. The novel selective etching process only removed the thin 2nd bottom layer from the physically and chemically stable thick amorphous 1st top layer under thermal treatment at $250^{\circ}C$, yielding ordered doubly open-ended NT (DNT) that could be easily transferred to an FTO substrate for the fabrication of front-illuminated dye sensitized solar cells (DSCs). The DNT-DSCs yielded a higher PCE (8.6%) than was observed from $TiO_2$ nanoparticle (TNP)-based DSCs (7.3%), for comparable film thicknesses of $16{\mu}m$, despite of 20% decreased amount of dye. Intensity-modulated photocurrent and photovoltage spectroscopy (IMPS and IMVS, respectively) revealed that the DNT-DSCs exhibited electron lifetimes that were 10 times longer than those of TNP-DSCs, which contributed to high device performances.

  • Liquid crystal alignments on a rubbed polyimide layer were investigated by using optical transmission method. Using this technique, we also studied the pretilt angle of the polymer molecules near the surface of a side-chain polymer layer as a function of the rubbing strength. In particular, we obtained the optical characteristics of liquid crystal orientations and pretilt angles for LC cell photo-aligned by UV as well after rubbing alignment. High pretilt angle of 3.84 degree was obtained on the weekly rubbed polymide layer duribg UV irradation time of 60min.

  • We synthesized highly aligned carbon nanotubes by thermal decomposition of acetylene gas using metal catalyst island. The alignment technique in this experiment is a very efficient method because it does not require any treatments before and after catalyst metal deposition. Alignment of nanotubes was dominated by the uniform diameter and the high density of metal catalysts. In the field emission test, the uniform emission spots on phosphor screen were obtained from the nanotubes in spite of non-aligned tube nature.

  • A self-aligned latch-up suppressed IGBT has been proposed and the process method and the device characteristics of the IGBT have been verified by numerical simulation. As the source is laterally diffused through the sidewall of the trench in the middle of the body, the size of the source is small and the doping concentration of the source is lower than that of the p++ body and the emitter efficiency of the parasitic npn transistor is low so that latch-up may be suppressed. No additional mask steps for p++ region, source, and source contact are required so that small sized body can be obtained Latch-u current density higher than 10000 A/cm$^{2}$ have been achieved by adjusting the process conditions.

  • In this study, we fabricated the transparent photovoltaic device using 2-dimensional transition-metal dichalcogenides and investigated the transparency and photovoltaic characteristics. P-n heterojunction was formed by mechanical exfoliation and aligned transfer method on the transparent sheet using n-type $MoS_2$ and p-type $WSe_2$. Our transparent photovoltaic device exhibited the open-circuit voltage of ~ 0.15 V and the short-circuit current of 0.48 nA under illumination of white light.

  • Sequence tagging is an important task in Natural Language Processing (NLP), in which the Named Entity Recognition (NER) is the key issue. So far the most widely adopted model for NER in NLP is that of combining the neural network of bidirectional long short-term memory (BiLSTM) and the statistical sequence prediction method of Conditional Random Field (CRF). In this work, we improve the prediction accuracy of the BiLSTM by supporting an aligned word representation mechanism. We have performed experiments on multilingual (English, Spanish and Dutch) datasets and confirmed that our proposed model outperformed the existing state-of-the-art models.

  • We studied the nematic liquid crystal (NLC) alignment capability by the IB(Ion bean) alignment method on a NDLC(Nitrogen Diamond Like Carbon) as a-C:H thin film. and investigated electro-optical performances of the IBaligned IPS(In plane switching)cell with NDLC surface. A good LC alignment by IB exposure on a NDLC surface was achieved. Monodomain alignment of the IB aligned IPS cell can be observed. The goodelectro-optical (EO) characteristics of the IB aligned IPS cell was observed with oblique IBexposure on the NDLC as a-C:H thin film for 1 min.

  • According to advanced nanotechnology, the nanostructured materials with various kinds and shape are synthesized easily or produced by process. Recently, researches about interaction between the nanostructured materials and biological system have been progressed actively. The surface topography may influence cellular responses, for example cell adhesion, cell morphology. In this work, we synthesized vertically aligned silicon nanowires (SiNWs) on the Au-covered Si(111) wafer by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method. We accomplished to control of the SiNWs diameter by regulating thickness of Au film such as 1 nm and 10 nm. These substrates did not isolate cells and just provided surface topography for cell culture. Human Embryonic Kidney 293T cells (HEK 293T cells) were cultured on these substrates for 2 days. We studied the nanotopographical effects on cell morphology, adhesion, and growth which are evaluated on each SiNWs substrate comparing bare glass as control.
