In this paper, the effect of substrate temperature on structural, electrical and optical properties of aluminium-doped zinc oxide (AZO) films were investigated. AZO thin films were prepared on glass substrate by pulsed DC magnetron sputtering technique. The properties of AZO were measured by using XRD, AFM, UV spectrophotometer, and hall effect measurement system. The resistivity of AZO films was improved under the condition of high substrate temperature. The resistivity decreased from $9.95{\times}10^{-2}\;{\Omega}-cm\;to\;1.1{\times}10^{-3}\;{\Omega}-cm$ as a result of high substrate temperature and the average transmittances in visible range were above 80%.

Transparent conducting aluminum-doped zinc oxide (AZO) thin films have been deposited on corning 1737 glass by DC magnetron sputter. The structural, electrical and optical properties of the films were investigated as a function of various substrate temperatures. AZO thin films were fabricated by dc magnetron sputtering with AZO ceramic target $(Al_2O_3: 2wt %)$. The obtained films were poly crystalline with a hexagonal wurtzite structure and preferentially oriented in the (002) crystallographic direction. The lowest resistivity is $6.0{\times}10^{-4}$ Ocm with the carrier concentration of $2.694{\times}10^{20}\;cm^{-3}$ and Hall mobility of $20.426cm^2/Vs$. The average transmittance in the visible range was above 90%.

Zinc oxide films have been actively investigated as transparent electrode materials for display. We report the effect of the working pressures on electro-optical properties of Al-doped ZnO thin films deposited by d.c. magnetron sputtering. The resistivity of the ZnO thin films was depended on atomic bombardment effect by working pressure.

Aluminum-doped zinc oxide (AZO) films were deposited on SiOC/Si wafer by an RF-magnetron sputtering system, by varying the deposition parameters of radio frequency power from 50 to 200 W. To assess the correlation of the optical properties between the substrate and AZO thin film, photoluminescence was measured, and the origin of deep level emission of AZO thin films grown on SiOC/Si wafer was studied. AZO formed on SiOC/Si substrates exhibited ultraviolet emission due to exciton recombination, and the visible emission was associated with intrinsic and extrinsic defects. For the AZO thin film deposited on SiOC at low RF-power, the deep level emission near the UV region is attributed to an increase of the variations of defects related to the AZO and SiOC layers. The applied RF-power influenced an energy gap of localized trap state produced from the defects, and the gap increased at low RF power due to the formation of new defects across the AZO layer caused by lattice mismatch of the AZO and SiOC films. The optical properties of AZO films on amorphous SiOC compared with those of AZO film on Si were considerably improved by reducing the roughness of the surface with low surface ionization energy, and by solving the problem of structural mismatch with the AZO film and Si wafer.
La doped CuO-ZnO-$Al_2O_3$ powders are prepared by sol-gel method with aluminum isopropoxide and primary distilled water as precursor and solvent. In this synthesized process, the obtained metal oxides caused the precursor such as copper (II) nitrate hydrate and zinc (II) nitrate hexahydrate were added. To improve the surface areas of La doped CuO-ZnO-$Al_2O_3$ powder, sorbitan (z)-mono-9-octadecenoate (Span 80) was added. The synthesized powder was calcined at various temperatures. The dopant was found to affect the surface area and particle size of the mixed oxide, in conjunction with the calcined temperature. The structural analysis and textual properties of the synthesized powder were measured with an X-ray Diffractometer (XRD), a Field-Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FE-SEM), Bruner-Emmett-Teller surface analysis (BET), Thermogravimetry-Differential Thermal analysis (TG/DTA), $^{27}Al$ solid state Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) and transform infrared microspectroscopy (FT-IR). An increase of surface area with Span 80 was observed on La doped CuO-ZnO-$Al_2O_3$ powders from $25m^2$/g to $41m^2$/g.

A thin film transistor (TFT) has been fabricated using the amorphous 0.5 wt% Si doped zinc-tin-oxide (a-0.5 SZTO) with different electrodes made of either aluminium (Al) or titanium/aluminium(Ti/Al). Contact resistance and total channel resistance of a-0.5SZTO TFTs have been investigated and compared using the transmission line method (TLM). We measured the total resistance of 1.0×102 Ω/cm using Ti/Al electrodes. This result is due to Ti, which is a material known for its adhesion layer. We found that the Ti/Al electrode showed better contact characteristics between the channel and electrodes compared with that made of Al only. The former showed a less contact and total resistance. We achieved high performance of the TFTs characteristic, such as Vth of 2.6 V, field effect mobility of 20.1 cm2 V−1s−1, S.S of 0.9 Vdecade−1, and on/off current ratio of 9.7×106 A. It was demonstrated that the Ti/Al electrodes improved performance of TFTs due to enhanced contact resistance.

Sodium zinc borate glasses doped with dysprosium and modified with different concentrations of barium oxide (0-50 mol %) were fabricated using the melting quenching technique. The structural properties of the prepared glass systems were characterized using XRD and FTIR methods. The absorption spectra of the prepared glasses were measured to determine their energy gap and their related optical properties. The density of the glasses and other physical parameters were also reported. Additionally, with the help of Photon Shielding and Dosimetry (PSD) software, we investigated the radiation shielding parameters of the prepared glass systems at different energy values. It was found that an increase in the density of the glasses by increasing the concentration of BaO significantly improved the gamma ray shielding ability of the samples. For practical results, a compatible irradiation set up was designed to check the shielding capability of the obtained glasses using a gamma ray source at 662 keV. The experimentally obtained results strongly agreed with the data obtained by PDS software at the same energy. These results demonstrated that the investigated glass system is a good candidate for several radiation shielding applications when comparing it with other commercial shielding glasses and concretes.
In this paper, we report electrical, optical and structural properties of Al-doped zinc oxide (AZO) thin films deposited at different substrate temperatures and pressures. The films were prepared by radio frequency (RF) magnetron sputtering on glass substrates in argon (Ar) ambient. The X-ray diffraction analysis showed that the AZO films deposited at room temperature (RT) and 20 Pa were mostly oriented along a-axis with preferred orientation along (100) direction. There was an improvement in resistivity ($3.7{\times}10^{-3}{\Omega}-cm$) transmittance (95%) at constant substrate temperature (RT) and working pressure (20 Pa) using the Hall-effect measurement system and UV-vis spectroscopy, respectively. Our results have promising applications in low-cost transparent electronics, such as the thin-film solar cells and thin-film transistors due to favourable deposition conditions. Furthermore our film deposition method offers a procedure for preparing highly oriented (100) AZO films.
Recently zinc oxide(ZnO) has emerged as one of the most promising transparent conducting films with a strong demand of low cost and high performance optoelectronic devices, ZnO film has many advantages such as high chemical and mechanical stabilities, and abundance in nature. In this paper, in order to obtain the excellent transparent conducting film with low resistivity and high optical transmittance for Plasma Display Pannel(PDP), aluminium doped zinc oxide films were deposited on Corning glass substrate by dc magnetron sputtering method. The effects of the discharge power and doping amounts of $Al_2$$O_3$ on the electrical and optical properties were investigated experimentally. Particularly in order to lower the electrical resistivity, positive and negative bias voltages were applied on the substrate, and the effect of bias voltage on the electrical properties of ZnO:Al thin film were also studied and discussed. Films with lowest resistivity of $4.3 \times 10 ^{-4} \Omega-cm$ and good transmittance of 91.46 % have been achieved for the films deposited at 1 mtorr, $400^{\circ}C$, 40 W, Al content of 2 wt% with a substrate bias of +30 V for about 800 nm in film thickness.
